Clarification: There were a few machines in this video that I stated were "the only known working example according to arcade-museum.com" and the citation is true in all cases - links are in the description. If you know of others out there then that's great! But I'm not an expert on this older stuff so I deferred to what I thought was a reliable source. Ultimately they're all very old and rare so just enjoy the video and seeing this cool old stuff in action 🙂

It's been almost a decade since I last heard her but she still lives rent free in my mind.

That was lovely! I used to adore the mechanical dioramas for 2p a go at Butlins. The Night Watchman and the Haunted Graveyard and that!

I should have spent more time recording them really but we were very short of time and spent far too long playing games instead 😁

There is an older pinball machine at an antiques store we go to some times. I keep hoping it will be working each time I am there. Unfortunately I have been out of luck so far. Also around the turn of the century that light would have been fascinating.

They're really complicated and I guess maintaining them is something of a dying art. It's a real shame.

Fantastic stuff Rees! Loved the Horseshoe Rag, the cameo of your wife, and all the excellent footage you captured. Hope the rest of the trip went swimmingly!

Wow, fantastic collection! Thanks! I live just north of the Seattle area, but we take at least one trip to California a year. Can't wait to see this in person.

I visited there, and San Francisco in general, from the UK just before the lock downs, in February 2020. Great to see it survived.
It was a wonderful place to spend my pocketful of US coins on my last morning before flying back. I ended up exchanging a few notes for coins, which wasn't the plan but how can you not in there!

Surprised to see you at Musee Mecanique! I've been there once back when it was still at the Cliff House on the coastal side of SF about 25 years ago. I never made it back after it moved. I've got to make a return visit the next time I'm in the Bay Area.
