Mod Maker here, It is fun seeing unconventional ways of beating the missions. I have yet to come up with a way of making 1 Hp bosses interesting to fight, the journey to them is often the biggest hurdle. Medics and Medivacs reward good micro and are needed for some hero sections and missions. Grants skill level is also super good and he enjoys a bunch of crazy ideas to beat missions. You'd have to give them long range zoning abilities. So the player would have to navigate a maze of moving lazers and vortices to even get close to the purifyer to destroy it. But of course this will take quite some developement time and has the risk of alienating less micro inclined players.
The fact that random fodder units can be unbelievably lethal but bosses are jokes is IMHO a great aspect of the mod. It doesn't need to be balanced, just fun

@@GummieI it appears to me that the planets have damage reduction and armor, otherwise all planets would have died long ago due to splash, now we just gotta do simple math and then we will have the exact amount of armor and damage reduction

More range, more HP, more DPS, can transform to fly away. I guarantee if someone mods vikings to be marine size and collision, they would greatly outperform Marines.

I feel like the ideal comp is going to be marine viking in a 1 hp campaign. And since Grant is avoiding the Marine for obvious reasons, Vikings are going to be a staple moving forward.
something like that does happen in canon btw XD. During/after the brood wars Raynor and Taldarin (another Protoss) resque Infected Alexie Stukov and some of his infected terrans via a serum. Serum works and they take the infested to a protoss planet to live. Stukov then given to the Mobious foundation. AAAAAAnd this is canon. So in the time of Haven missions protoss does have an anti infestation serum aaaaand Raynor knows it. (i guess new and mutated infestation prevents the usage of the serum?)

As for the Battlecruiser mission, I am sure that mission received some heavy tweaks. Otherwise that mission would actually be the easiest mission, since Protoss stuff have 1 hp and 0 shields. Without shield, Protoss stuff also take damage and they would instantly die to their own ripfield generators (RIPfield more like)
We need to see the "HP of the Swarm", "Legacy of HP" and "Nova: HP Ops" corresponding remakes of other campaigns, that is bound to be hilarious yet entertaining

They are leaving to go to your base when they evacuate. Matt says it in the beginning. "Some of the colonists didn't make it to our base in time." I think the idea was for them all to evacuate to your location so it would be easier to protect them.

Maybe I'm crazy but I feel like the Hive Mind Emulator is actually really bad. Yeah, Mutalisks are broken when the enemy has them, but with the high resource cost and energy cost to mind control a unit that will almost certainly just instantly die seems like it would be pretty bad to me.
I was thinking the same thing. The reason why Hive Mind Emulator is OP is because we can capture powerful units with it. Now that all those units also have 1hp, they don't seem that powerful compared to low tech units.
At 0:23 we can see how weak the Mothership is as it fails to oneshot (and multishot) the Civilian Hut. Or that is the most durable hut having 1 HP and 500+ armor.
I think the psi disruptor is actually way better in this, because it's function is to slow down movement so it makes in invincible if used right The hive mind emulator is still good but not nearly as good, it still removes one unit from the battle but now that is not such a big advantage anymore, and you need zerg to get into range to get them, not only that but the zerg you control also have 1HP, so...yeah. Good thing we all know grant will never build a disruptor either way tho XD
If infestation is anything at all like Chaos in 40k or indoctrination in Mass Effect, I think Dr. Hansen may be genuinely unaware of the dangers each planet/area of space contains and just wants to spread the infestation further. Or maybe she's just a little psionic and that could give her some ability to delay the infestation, but still get stupid ideas that feel like good ideas from the our beloved Queen of Blades.
Grant~ If you enjoyed the reapers on the mission then I would recommend the co-op wings campaign in the EU server. Why the one uniquely in the EU server and not the US? The person who made it in the arcade made a lot of changes that seem to fit all kinds of play styles. You can turn on both nydus and air for all-in, you can cap both players supply at 70 a piece, every unit has unique upgrades in the mission such as hellions attacking on the move (best unit personal opinion for mod), you have custom units added, it has NG+ system so you can eventually get all research and upgrades if you take the time, it's not forced co-op but highly recommended for balance, the upgrades in game were altered such as diamondbacks hitting air units, some research was added and altered such as a buff to bio-steel. and you're not limited to just terran due to researches. If you don't play it on stream I recommend with your sister for a fun campaign experience together as you play co-op together already. Enjoy

Ya know, reapers are actually slightly worse against buildings in this mod. As their anti-building attack is slower and not hitscan. Granted only slightly, but it seems to mean it turns a fight against a spine crawler and a reaper from a win to a lose. I think.
The psi-emitter is actually kinda useless in this. Whatever you control usually dies instantly and you have to be on top of it 24/7 to get anything out of it. Otherwise they just vaporize on enemy contact. Not to mention they get expensive ti replace pretty fast with how many you need for energy production
Hive mind Emulator is interesting to evaluate. If whatever you steal has 1 HP it simply won’t last very long. It seems like Grant is thinking of grabbing mutalisks
Heyo Grant - Figure you may have answered this somewhere I dont follow you as I just watch vods here but, Any plans to check out the Lifeforce Mercenary Campaign that recently released? Watching Harstem play it and while I love him id much rather watch you play it as you are more of the campaign guy.
I actually do wonder if the Emulator is better in this mod? The strength of it in normal play is strong, resourceless units that can regenerate. But at 1 hp, they're all really, really bad. Mutas and broodlords are really the only things I can think of worth the energy cost, and broodlords are slow and vulnerable to mutas and mutas are super short range and therefore super unsafe in this mod - attrition on every attack means a massive muta ball is basically unobtainable. But the disruptor slows enemy move and attack speed, giving your units more time to acquire them as targets and possibly even letting yours hit first, depending on how the first attack from neutral is handled in the engine.
With the armory upgrades, why wouldn’t the Vikings be great? Extra range and AOE attacks plus they can be reactored out. Seems like they should be like the best anti air.
Idk if the Odin will have 1hp. The modder might come up with some other thing to compensate. However, i supposed with 1hp, pre clearing the bases might be possible.
I think HME would actually be bad here, it'd be tough to take control of a unit without having it instantly die to either the enemies or your own defenses.
The extra modpacks are nice for what they are but I think the modmaker just needs to re-balance the marine if he can. Making them more expensive is an easy way to do it. Alternatively, reduce their range - but give them extra range while they're in a bunker. That way you can still defend with marines in bunkers, which is especially important in the early missions.
honestly... balance just isn't the point of the mod. Him throwing the modpacks at the user and saying "if you want "balance", balance them yourself" seems like the optimal approach to me.
@@pikadragon2783 If he doesn't want to do any balancing, that's cool. But "balance them yourself" is never the optimal approach. At minimum, he should figure out how he wants to nerf the marine and implement that as a singular option, like a difficulty mode. That's much better than throwing 14 different options at your users every mission.

Both Viking upgrades actually seem incredible. With splash and increased range one or two vikings could wipe out swarms of Mutas on Char
And on the ground, the viking has 7 range on top of having almost marine levels of attack speed.

Odin mission will be a nightmare alongside with "welcome to the heck" there is no way Warfield gonna survive the hydras.

Apparently Warfield can't actually die in Gates of Heck, so it's probably fine.

I actually do wonder if the Emulator is better in this mod? The strength of it in normal play is strong, resourceless units that can regenerate. But at 1 hp, they're all really, really bad. Mutas and broodlords are really the only things I can think of worth the energy cost, and broodlords are slow and vulnerable to mutas and mutas are super short range and therefore super unsafe in this mod - attrition on every attack means a massive muta ball is basically unobtainable.
But the disruptor slows enemy move and attack speed, giving your units more time to acquire them as targets and possibly even letting yours hit first, depending on how the first attack from neutral is handled in the engine.
With the armory upgrades, why wouldn’t the Vikings be great? Extra range and AOE attacks plus they can be reactored out. Seems like they should be like the best anti air.
Idk if the Odin will have 1hp. The modder might come up with some other thing to compensate. However, i supposed with 1hp, pre clearing the bases might be possible.
I think HME would actually be bad here, it'd be tough to take control of a unit without having it instantly die to either the enemies or your own defenses.
The extra modpacks are nice for what they are but I think the modmaker just needs to re-balance the marine if he can. Making them more expensive is an easy way to do it. Alternatively, reduce their range - but give them extra range while they're in a bunker. That way you can still defend with marines in bunkers, which is especially important in the early missions.
honestly... balance just isn't the point of the mod. Him throwing the modpacks at the user and saying "if you want "balance", balance them yourself" seems like the optimal approach to me.
@@pikadragon2783 If he doesn't want to do any balancing, that's cool. But "balance them yourself" is never the optimal approach. At minimum, he should figure out how he wants to nerf the marine and implement that as a singular option, like a difficulty mode. That's much better than throwing 14 different options at your users every mission.
...Grant why are you hyping up Reapers in bunkers? Is it just a self-nerf because Marines in the same position are OP?

They're important for things like hydralisks because of the range. Ideally, you'd have one or two reapers and the rest be marines.

extra range is just very good.
Everyone here forgetting that spectres exist, which have both more range and can attack air units.
