The era when batting & bowling were equal tasks, the time when scoring 250-275 was a biggest thing & scoring 280+ seemed to be a giant chase, a golden age of cricket🏏 for 90's kids like us.

The ball would swing, seam, spin and reverse in 50 overs. Even slow dibly dobly bowlers like Harris, Larsen and Ealham were difficult to get away. Quality spinners in most teams. Batters nightmare to bat after 15 overs.

Well said! The last of quality cricket!games were gripping sometimes till the last over!the 70s 80s and 90s were proper for the development of bowlers, (which made batsmen better in their technique)-can't see it now with the balls and rules being replaced to suit the batsmen.I feel now 'cricket' is going through its leanest phase (not in terms of 'revenue' but in terms of quality)!

One of the underrated batsman of all time is ………….. Aravinda De Silva. His innings against India in 1996 WC semis was spectacular. Specially loosing early wickets of Jayasuriya & Kalu he played flawless innings under tremendous pressure👍👍👏👏

@@UmairSajid Respectfully disagree. Best would always be Warnie. To this date, there is no single bowler who has bowled the doosra legitmately. Saqlain invented it and I would say it was the cleanest doosra that he bowled. Saqqi was unplayable in ODIs. I think he was part of the big spinners league that werent afraid to bowl in last 10 overs. Kumble and Saqqi bowled many time in last 5 overs. Sad that Saqlain didnt play enough test cricket. If these spinners were playing in the last decade, all the Virats and Smiths averages would have taken a hit by at least 6-10 runs

All the modern day Batters averaging 50+ in ODIs would struggle to play spin in middle overs of this quality. One white ball, which swung prodigously when new, spun after 25 overs and reversed after 40. Add to that the size of grounds, heavier bats and quality bowlers. No wonder why Averaging 40 was a benchmark of greatness in ODIs during 90s.

Chasing 80 runs in last 10 overs was tough task those days because premier bowlers would be bowling the final 10 overs.
The old ball would swing or reverse swing
In T20, nowadays batsmen are chasing 120 runs in last 10 overs.
ICC made Cricket batsmen friendly. Size of the Cricket ground has reduced throughout the world in last 10 years to see more 4s and 6s.
Free hit in ODI is utter nonsense.
ICC killed ODI thrill for sake of money. Cricket is business now.

The outfields were so slow, so that the balls were not even reached to the boundary... At that era Batsmen & bowlers got same type of chances to contribute in cricket, but today cricket mainly batsman based game... 90's cricket was best with best condition...
Today cricket is modernized so much with lot of money & the real attraction has reduced....

Being 90s kid ,and cricket fan I didn't watch this game ,but read in newspaper and became sorrow to know so close defeat . I think Asia lack players like Tendulkar, Ganguly or Dravid or it might be Jaysuriya .If any of them would have played ,the result of the game might have turned .

Wasim Akram rightly named the captain ..
He was the player of 90s decade ,, and easily the best player and captain from Asia in 90s ..
Sachin might be better if we look overall career but Wasim Akram definitely superior till 2000 !

Wasim was a natural leader, whereas Sachin was not. Sachin was not a strong captain. There is no comparison between Wasim and Sachin in terms of captaincy.

the era where cricket was all fun. rules were made for cricket not to favour bowlers or batters. there were no politics involved in cricket at that time indians and pak players played togather from one team in asia teams. but then bcci put politics ahead to gentle men game

Chasing 220, at one point Asia XI needs 85 runs in 120 balls, with 6 wickets in hand. Then Suddenly ROW came back to the game and won the match by 15 runs.
This types of classics can't be seen in this T-20 era.

Cairns was a beast . Hitting huge sixes to best bowlers and a strike bowler. Better than Kallis in one dayers. Bcoz he was a impact player as he could easily change the match with his bat and was a opening and death overs bowler.

Cairns, Klusener and Flintoff- all more effective than Kallis in ODIs. Though Kallis is a legend but this is the fact !!

@@gourabchatterjee5011 yeah kluesener was good batsman known more for his hitting. Cairns had the ability to score 100s . Flintoff was more of bowling allrounder. Cairns was slightly above them . He was a star could hit sixes at will. In today's t 20 era he would have been most expensive. His only drawback was he was injured often.

Flintoff is the best all rounder in modern cricket as he was equally good with the bat and ball as carins rarely win matches with his bowling but Flintoff can win matches with the bat and ball ……

@@NITINKUMAR-uc8jz some says Flintoff, some Klusener, some Cairns.. Actually this is subjective and thats the fun of any game. But all of them are at par for sure !
