Well said!The last of quality cricket!games were gripping sometimes till the last over!the 70s 80s and 90s were proper for the development of bowlers, (which made batsmen better in their technique)-can't see it now with the balls and rules being replaced to suit the batsmen.I feel now 'cricket' is going through its leanest phase (not in terms of 'revenue' but in terms of quality)!
One of the underrated batsman of all time is ………….. Aravinda De Silva. His innings against India in 1996 WC semis was spectacular. Specially loosing early wickets of Jayasuriya & Kalu he played flawless innings under tremendous pressure👍👍👏👏

Aravinda De silva was a stylish batsman. He's pretty underrated by today's standards. My dad told me about his batting skills when I was a kid. He used to take down our bowlers despite the venue. He could perform in both home and away series against us. Sad to see what happened to Sri Lanka team. Anyway big fan of De Silva from New Zealand

Saqlain invented it and I would say it was the cleanest doosra that he bowled. Saqqi was unplayable in ODIs. I think he was part of the big spinners league that werent afraid to bowl in last 10 overs. Kumble and Saqqi bowled many time in last 5 overs. Sad that Saqlain didnt play enough test cricket. If these spinners were playing in the last decade, all the Virats and Smiths averages would have taken a hit by at least 6-10 runs

Saqlain mustaq was dangerous than warne and murali at the time he played ! He was a serious wicket taker his stats say it all . It’s just that he did not play too much match ! Mustaq , Shane bond , agarkar , dale steyn Donald now rabada , they have picked up fastest 50 or 100 wickets .
All the modern day Batters averaging 50+ in ODIs would struggle to play spin in middle overs of this quality. One white ball, which swung prodigously when new, spun after 25 overs and reversed after 40. Add to that the size of grounds, heavier bats and quality bowlers. No wonder why Averaging 40 was a benchmark of greatness in ODIs during 90s.
Those days when matches were played less so, these matches were the fillers. Today cricket is played throughout the year and with IPL and BBL there is no room for exhibition matches.
Kumble bowled a great deal in death overs in 90s. Shane warne did the same for Australia. 90s were different, one white ball meant spinners were in the game all the time after 15 overs
Chasing 80 runs in last 10 overs was tough task those days because premier bowlers would be bowling the final 10 overs. The old ball would swing or reverse swing In T20, nowadays batsmen are chasing 120 runs in last 10 overs. ICC made Cricket batsmen friendly. Size of the Cricket ground has reduced throughout the world in last 10 years to see more 4s and 6s. Free hit in ODI is utter nonsense. ICC killed ODI thrill for sake of money. Cricket is business now.

Wasim Akram rightly named the captain .. He was the player of 90s decade ,, and easily the best player and captain from Asia in 90s .. Sachin might be better if we look overall career but Wasim Akram definitely superior till 2000 !
Wasim was a natural leader, whereas Sachin was not. Sachin was not a strong captain. There is no comparison between Wasim and Sachin in terms of captaincy.
Look at those shots ,back foot pull ,leg side flick ,straight drive , cover drive , square cut ! I have never seen any player playing fast bowlers in Blackfoot so beautifully than Arvinda desilva and inzimam ul Haq ! Desilva and inzimam were better than any batsman in pressure situation ! They have won many games for their country in pressure situations ! Most importantly they were heroes of semi finals and finals of World Cup , they played for their country !
