- It's early season bass fishing pre spawn with grass lines leasing into spawning bays. Me and Matt from @CatchCo are playing with some new baits and rods while trying to target bigger bass on the deeper edges of grass beds after a cold front has dropped air temps from 80's to 40's.

Live bait bucket, rope or line, oar or some type of rod. Hold the rod at center while your buddy hangs the bucket and fish. Fill the bucket with water until rod is roughly level. Draw a line at the water line. Weigh the bucket filled to that line later. Fish like that calls for drastic measures!

In the future take a piece of fishing line and wrap it around the fish to get the girth, then put it up against the ruler. Use the formula for length and girth and it will give you a pretty good estimate.

How in the world do TH-cam fishermen never have a scale? I have one just as standard gear in my tackle box. I literally will never be fishing without one.
Talking about lengths compared to weights I caught a bass off bed about 2 years ago had a cheap scale with one battery bar left it said 9.47 but the fish measured 27in long and 17-20in around I don’t believe the weight what’s your take on a estimated weight?
