- This is the last bass fishing trip I will ever make to lake Fairfield. Sadly this lake and surrounding property have been sold to a private developer for over 100 million dollars and will no longer be accessible to the public for fishing, camping, hiking or any other outdoor activities inside what once was a Texas State Park.

Bring awareness to the issue, if we stand by and do nothing they will destroy all of our parks and recreation areas do to development... It's a major problem all around the u.s.. smh it's pitiful.

This was my moms, (RIP) favorite place to go when they went went camping.
It is BS that they are making it a private lake.
It's BS that you can just buy a lake and all the property around it, when it's owned by the state and is a major public campground.

Theirs little to NO public land as it is in Texas let alone leased land to be just be selling it off like their a dime a dozen 🤷 sucks for the people of Texas! Most everything here is owned by the state unless it's just raw hunting land. If it's campgrounds and public facilities it's owned by the state mostly.
Hopefully they'll allow some permits to be sold and still allow some fishing and camping. Would be a complete waste to just bulldoze everything.

A few days ago, State Rep. Angelia Orr filed a bill while the Texas State Legislature is in session that would claim eminent domain of the property on which Fairfield Lake State Park lies. The land owner would be compensated fair market value for the land.
Going to miss Lake Fairfield. My folks live in that town, and I've fished it my whole life. My dad has been on the lake every day for the last week. Tomorrow is going to be a sad day. There are some big ole bass in there if you know where to look.
No one's buying the lake, at least not from the state. It's never belonged to the state. It was being leased by the state. The owners have sold it to a real estate developer.
So if you're going to be upset, be upset with the government that spent millions of dollars to improve a private property. 72 million since 1976.
Oh, by the way, there's a few others in the same situation.

It hurt my feelings real bad to find out Fairfield is closing. I went 2 weeks ago and caught 30lb+ bags. It was the BEST lake in Texas and will be missed...
Hate to see old parks shut down. I find it really odd how the state leases an area for 50+ years and build parks on it. What do they expect to happen at the end of the lease? They just hope that they're offered a renewal? Was their whole plan just to temporarily have a park? It just seems so odd to me.

I was lucky enough to fish this lake a couple times last year, it's so sad that such a nice state park people could bring families to is getting closed for a private lake and golf course.
Sad deal about Fairfield I used to fish it often years ago, haven’t been in a while but it was an awesome state park and lake combo. Really enjoy your vids glad to see you still do the old school camp and fish keeping it OG.

Sold to a private developer after the state sank 72 million into the park using your tax dollars over the years. I am surprised Texans are being so submissive in this scenario. I live 1500 miles away and I am angry about this.
I am glad I live in a state where the public land is considered sacred and easily sold off to the closest billionaire looking to develop it so they can sell it to millionaires. I am sure your tax dollars made the property quite appealing.

Love your vids LFG! I got a tip for your jerkbait….try to jerk twice in a row fast before you pause….watch the action with one jerk compared to two real quick. You will get a darting action. Also give it a little more slack after the last jerk. Can’t hurt to try it right! And don’t forget to throw 4-6” swimbait in those situations! Have your boy Zaldane hook you up!
