I recently had an aluminum front wheel and one of the studs was spinning in the hub. I tried drilling stud through center of lug nut, and that did not work at all. had a carbide burr and tried to grind the side of the lug, no luck with that as the cone of the nut is down in a hole. Tried air chisel, no luck there. After about 2 1/2 hours I got the torch and aimed the blow towards center of stud, and had it off in less than 2 minutes. Burned the clear coat around hole but no damage to wheel.
The aluminum isn’t effected because steel goes through an endothermic reaction with acetylene and oxygen. You can’t cut aluminum with an oxy fuel torch. Just FYI cool video tho! I might have to try this I have a vw lug bolt with no way of getting it out, the head is a circle with a weld on the inside idk who made it I bought it that way..
I have a stripped lug nut on the stud on my car 2014 Nissan Altima SV the stud is just turning. I took my car to so many shop and not one shop was able to take the stud off I'm really in need of help taking this stripped stud off I'm trying to put a new tire and replace three new studs I need help getting this stud taken off are you in Birmingham Alabama I'll be so happy to get this stud taken off and my tire replaced I took my car back to the tire place I bought the tire from they couldn't remove the stud they were the ones that stripped the stud
That’s what happened to my jeep!…. What worked for me was a lug nut removal socket and a sledgehammer, making sure the socket is all the way seated against the wheel!… how do use two different sizes one to remove the otter casing and then another one for the nut
I have rusted on Lugnuts on aluminum wheels will use your suggestion with high temp wheel bearing grease And map gas to heat up using Extended cheater bar! Didn’t know about the wheel bearing grease, thanks! The video would’ve been better without the heavy metal 👍
What brand of wheel bearing greas did you use? Discount tire guys broke and the welder said it will burn my rim. Thanks for your post. Trying to save my rim
No. If you do it how I show you only the studs need to be replaced. With the wheel in place it acts like a heat sink. There is very little heat transfer to the rotor and hub face
Well shit I don't have that imma have to try to drill them out, I was breaking it off with a chisel and hammer chipped some of the nut off but need more I have two bad ones imma just try to drill them off.
You can get high temp grease from any auto parts store, an oxy fuel setup will require a trip to a welders supply store and some training, there's some seriously important safety steps when working with acetylene.
It’s about time someone played some good music on TH-cam, from and ‘80s Black/Death/Speed/Melodic metal fan, when Metallica was a garage band, all bands seen at L’Amour, Brooklyn, Mercyful Fate, Exciter, Exodus, Metal Church, to name a few.
@@dkenderdine79 How much gas was used to melt those lug nuts ? I have 4 that I need to remove just like this video and I absolutely need to do this. Just making sure I have everything I need before I start on it.

I got the lugnuts off on my Dodge Neon with no damage to the rim. Thanks for your tips!!!
I’ve been trying to take my wheel off for weeks and ran out of solutions will indeed try this
The music accurately reflects my sentiment when doing a job like this.

Did it work?
Finally a video of my exact problem! Same shit damn you rusty pa. 570 here. Thx

Super ideas making Nepa great again!

You can mute it 😁
I had that same problem, but I used a hammer and a
Punch and three different sizes of cobalt drill bits, same outcome
Great vid N didnt knw about that grease trick n im aleways around welding n torching

Yes this is a good question just use any high temp grease that’s says maybe 1000 degrees
Wow! It didn't damage the thread of the rim?
I'm doing this with a vw previous owner welded lug nut on
Nicely Done. Thumbs Up!
It would have been nice to see how the Studs themselves look after u use blue flame wrench on them
Hey, is the rotor or wheel hub damaged by this torch process???
No. If you do it how I show you only the studs need to be replaced. With the wheel in place it acts like a heat sink. There is very little heat transfer to the rotor and hub face
Can this be done with a propane torch?
no
Propane oxy yeah.
is there any other way if you dont have an torch?
Drill bits to the studs. Slower but works. TH-cam videos explain
My 2015 wrangler has those and I'm in the same issue. The lugs bend and flatten WAY TOO EASY.
He made it look so easy😩

What’s the name of the grease and the tank to use the torch? Where can I buy?

What psi on gas and oxy?
Your setting will vary with your tip size. But I usually run mine around 10 Psi for the gas and 40 for the oxy. For anything less than 1 1/2" thick
MVP!
nice job
We can do without the stupid music that gives you a headache
Shit music, great video
Mine were so bad, had to cut the rim off.
Imma use a propane butane I tried everything to
Cool music
for chirst sake loose the music...wtf
Mute buttons exist for a reason. Might not be your cup of tea but I like it 😁
Got torch you can loan me? Lol
Anybody ever try this with propane/oxy?

thank you I will be try it thank you
Good video until that annoying music and I had to mute.
😂 that's good music
Shifty music
laredo tx😎
musics garbage, i had to cut the video short
Okay bye
Good job, but I guarantee you I would screw it up. Wouldn't try it on anybody's but my own.
It takes a bit a practice and experience with the torch. Keep in mind this is a last resort
