Fantastic Interview so far! Callum is one of the all time greats and his comments about simplicity speak to the beauty of his designs and the aesthetically challenged cars of BMW, Honda and others!
Great interview, nice to hear some subtle home truths about the automotive industry. Having been in the industry for my whole career it resonates about cost/ volume as well as beauty is in the eye of the beholder! Very enjoyable, thank you.
Nonsense from Ian, Gerry McGovern's Range Rover's sold very well at JLR because of his designs while Ian was struggling to sell his poorly designed Jaguars. I'm sure if Gerry McGovern had designed the Jag XE, it would've been the volume seller and the company would've been saved
I ordered my f-type r new in 2015 and still think the original design is one of best looking (and sounding) cars ever made - but I do remember Ian’s first concept with the swing arm rear window
It's a bit cheeky for Ian to blame all of Jaguar's probelms on JLR accountants. Gerry McGovern designed Land and Range Rovers models sold very well under the same company using the same components. The bitter truth for Ian (hiding under that dodgy baseball cap) is that the majority of his design's at Jaguar were poor and self indulgent. I'm surprised Tata put up with his antics for so long. The electric XJ was rightly cancelled as it was just a saloon version of the I Pace.
Wow he is completely out of touch with the realities of the current global car industry. There is nothing random about the German's shouting. They are designing for the Chinese market. Chinese love big grills and badges.
@@MRCFRMINLIan has created some great designs in his career, but he totally out of touch with car designing reality probably because of his old age. He sounds quite bitter to be honest
Loved him & Jodie Kidd having a blast together. Tickeled pink so he was. Wisdom from a humble man. Thank you.
Fascinating to hear Ian's musings on the car industry and car design. The connect of this channel goes from strength to strength.
