Bro I have done this exact build before back in 2011. I can share pictures with you, The hard part was putting in the door latch , windows, scissors door, and the headlights and brake lights, because I put sequential brake lights on from a mustang, looks pretty sweet.for door latch I used a Mercedes door latch, and the front windshield from a Toyota fits perfectly.I also had put in a full roll cage.So happy to see this being done on a BMW e36 platform, But mine was stolen around 2018, they broke into my garage and towed my whole project car away. I spent all my money and. 5 years on and off building this with my dad , when it was stolen I really wanted to cry so bad.So glad to see this build again! Thanks for sharing! I got pictures if you want
@11:10, youre gonna have to make a lower air guide/ diffuer that leaves an air gap between the bumper and the lip so air can ride ontop of the diffuer, under the bottom edge of bumper then up and through the intercooler. same way corvete feeds there radiators. "bottom feeders"
There's so much space in the rear and also oil also functions as coolant on rotaries. If they run a decent size cooler or 2 in the rear they'd have a larger oil capacity, and with how long the lines run front to back much more cooling
Awesome job on them mounts mate, loving your vids, your fast becoming one of Australia's best car channels! Keep going man, you got this! One day we will be right there with you mate, cant wait to bring one of our future builds over to the big Island to an event your at and finally meet ya.
This is next level Mike, nice custom brakets from you and your friend. Would be nice if you put some primer of coating on it (but the fabrication is beautifull work). I have to work in the garden (also custom) didnt want to but your movie got me pumped up to do it. If you guya keep up this speed, end result by Christmass is posible. Looking forward to part 7!
Hey mike lane, this is the first I've discovered of your channel from the first scamborghini episode, but this is really fantastic stuff, can't wait to see how it turns out!
You should put sheel metal with speed holes up infront of the windscreen kind of under the bonnet (kinda of how ford have the plastics around the Wiper arms)
Hey mate you dropped just like Curry with too much pepper😅 in the middle of the night but this morning is hard for a lot of people in the Caribbean so thanks for doing what you do
@itsmikelake Fair play. Can't wait to see what you do with it. I had a Diablo shell on a custom frame with a Rover V8 in the back. Didn't work out though, couldn't source the parts. So I'm excited to see the fab work and final product on yours. 👍
I wouldn't trust the swaybar mounts to hold the motor. They're just spot welded onto the rails and should be reinforced in my opinion. But I guess we'll see
Should there be a rubber of some kind on the trans mount? I know rotaries don’t make tonnes of torque but just wondering how long it’ll hold being solid mounted

MIKE - do me one big solid. Those engine mounts on the frame rail........ can you pleeeease gusset them to higher on the side of the frame. Just hate single sheet (no matter how thick) for mounts, when you could triangulate on the side to higher on the rail, and still get into the mount nut. Just saying..................
@@itsmikelake thought you'd go the plastic route abit safer anyhow especially for a drift car that could possibly collide with another while drifting side by side windows would for sure be first things to break
Please add drive shaft straps on each end of the drive shaft. Or whatever people call em fab a metal "U" brace meybe they are a necessity in FD, but this being a backyard scientist build its a bit of safety I personally wouldn't go without yeah you may not be pushing 1000hp but there's not alot between you and the drive shaft if something was to fail
HUGE thanks to Fenix Radiators for supplying the cooling for the 13b turbo 🙏🏻. Next up, turbo manifold and turbo install 😈
Dude how fricken cool are their products wow amazing
Nice 😍
Lameborghini
Every mount needs flat plate gussets. That tube is going to rotate flex, crack the welds. I was a race car chassis builder for many years.
Thanks for the advice!
Can't wait to see the BEEMBORGHINI drifting. Scamborghini sux for the name in my eyes

I’m sure we’ll settle on a name soon enough 🤔

KEEN TO SEE IT
You mean keen to DRIVE it 😜🤝🏻
oh no...
Maybe when your done you should just give it a shot at engineering and if it doesn’t pass oh well but if it does that would be a sick street/drift car
I’m considering making it street legal 👀 very difficult though
The mounts and radiator are SICK! she's starting to come together now 🤩
Every time we add something it just gets better!
Can’t wait to see the “Scam-brap-ghini” drifting! Let’s go Mike. 👍

Not a bad idea! I saw Jimmy Oakes running a fan on his intercooler so that's an option also 😁
Still one of the hottest builds on the INTE-WEBS right now.
So enjoying this.
Thank you my friend! Stoked you’re enjoying the build 😁
Would be cool if the oilcoolers was mounted where the headlights are.
They’ll be mounted just below the headlights 😁

@@itsmikelakealso good idea
Cant stop commenting „awesome work man!“
And I’ll love it every damn time! Thank you bro
You should do a air ram through the front of the bonnet for the intercooler instead of cutting the bumper
We definitely won’t cut the bumper. I’d rather run a fan on the intercooler before cutting the body!
@@itsmikelake not that I’m opposed to the body being modified. Keep up the good work man, the build is inspiring! So excited to see it sideways!
absolutely insane bro. this isnt even finished but its already my favorite car. love the effort bro.

It fits a lambo windscreen but theyre 3.5k 🤣. Time will tell about the passing tech 👀
I liked the video a lot, so I pressed the like button twice!

I run them in all of my drift cars without an issue 😁. Feels RAW but that’s a good thing in a race car.

Have you considered tilting the intercooler the same as the D1 FD's?
Cheers! V mount intercoolers are awesome. But I really like the clean look we've got going on at the moment. Let's see how this all plays out
@itsmikelake Fair play. Can't wait to see what you do with it. I had a Diablo shell on a custom frame with a Rover V8 in the back. Didn't work out though, couldn't source the parts. So I'm excited to see the fab work and final product on yours. 👍
watching you drill 10mm plate with a hand drill hurt my soul.
I need a drill press so bad 😅🥲
Gota do what you can with what you have 👍 I had the opposite problem: My coardless drill burnt so I used my bench drill in portable mode 😂
Need to gusset/brace the engine mounts - round pipe with zero bracing doesn't seem like it's going to end well.
These mounts should more than do the job for this motor and the power it will make
Hey brother love the build. What brand are your power tools you said in previous vids but I keep forgetting?
Thanks bro! I use SP tools. Love them 😁
I wouldn't trust the swaybar mounts to hold the motor. They're just spot welded onto the rails and should be reinforced in my opinion. But I guess we'll see
We’ll 100% be reinforcing when we remove the shell and spot weld the whole chassis etc 🤝🏻
Hey Mike, is the rota ported? If not is it gonna get ported?
This one is a stock rebuild. We'll tune brap into this one and V2 will have a fully built, ported motor
Should there be a rubber of some kind on the trans mount? I know rotaries don’t make tonnes of torque but just wondering how long it’ll hold being solid mounted
We put poly in between the gearbox and mount :)

It’ll all get reinforced when we remove the shell and do final chassis prep! Don’t stress haha 👌🏻
My question is what's the plan for windows plexie glass or actual glass
99% plastic as glass is impossible to find and insanely expensive 👀
@@itsmikelake thought you'd go the plastic route abit safer anyhow especially for a drift car that could possibly collide with another while drifting side by side windows would for sure be first things to break
If that gear box mount has 2 more it will be more secure
This mount is pretty darn beefy! The rotary won’t make a huge amount of torque so should be okay
Is the intake going to be sticking out of the window. They usually sit up pretty high
Nah we’re making a completely custom intake manifold with a plenum on top 😁
Awesome!!!
300zx z32 headlights will fit
