Many of my favorites here. I would suggest two additions: Halston Z-14 and Dunhill for Men. Paul Sebastian Fine Cologne is MY ultimate barbershop scent and my absolute secret weapon is: Giorgio Beverly Hills for Men + Brut 33 aftershave + Mennen Speed Stick deodorant. Moses wore this combination to part the Red Sea.
My secret is : use the oil Al rehab dakkar, spray over the oil belcam drakkar noir , a tiny bit of both, ULTRA performance, unbelievable fougere for 12 hours, just wait the first hours untill settle.
One of my biggest compliment getting combinations is Paul Sebastian find cologne paired with old spice original deodorant. The old spice, original deodorant has a little bit of a floral/spice note to it that pairs well with the Paul Sebastian. Find Cologne. Whenever I wear this combination, I am always down to get some kind of complement throughout the day.
Fantastic list and content, thank you! Jōvan - White Musk, Sung - Homme, Kanon - For Men, Geoffrey Beene - Bowling Green, Bijan - Men, Oscar de la Renta - Pour Lui, Giorgio - Red For Men, Hugo Boss - Number One, Jacques Bogart - Signature EDT...and my first signature scent from the 70's, Jōvan Musk!
I would certainly say the most overlooked classic scent is Dunhill for Men released in 1934, the same year as Caron pour Homme. The Dunhill is £20 and a real gentlemen, floral, leather scent..Having followed you gents since your inception, this would definitely appeal to you. Great video and very enjoyable...
Sounds like a gem I need to blind buy. After discovering Guerlain Vetiver, I've been incrementally getting into vintage fragrances more and more. Caron Pour un Homme is already on my list.
I sort of see Grey Flannel and Fahrenheit on the opposite poles of the violet spectrum, Grey Flannel being very cold and damp, and Fahrenheit warm and dry.
Own Davidoff,Lapidus and Jaipur edp…all already classics…I can imagine many of these, wearing some bussiness men/movie/rock stars back in the 80’…such evocative perfumes(most of them) from the best decade ever.
Really enjoyed this video. Azzaro pour homme was the first fragrance I owned back in the 80s when I was 13-14 years old. My cousin bought it for me when she came to Cyprus for holidays from the UK as my birthday gift. I asked for it and she was surprised that a 14 year old asked for a fragrance for a gift. Still love it. Also Zino has one of the best drydown's ever. Beautiful. The one I bought recently and it's still great is Dunhill Edition.
I love all the fragrances you mentioned and have 4 bottles of Azzaro pour Homme. 3 vintage and 1 new. I have 3 vintage Zino and one new as well. Both of those fragrances are still great in modern form . I love Dunhill Edition and think it deserves more hype
Elated that the first thing you recommended was Jaipur Homme as I've just bought it (blind) and been overwhelmed. I've worn it repeatedly now and coming into autumn feels like its a perfect match for me this season.
Love this video! I've been into frags since 2018 and only this year got into classic scents. Once I got past the connotations/memories of old folks at church, I could actually appreciate the classic frags for what they are. I have and love almost all of these listed. I recommend Jovan Musk, Obsession for men and women, and especially Halston Z14
Dan and Jo, thank you for putting this installment together. It's wonderful that you wanted to demonstrate how there are great values in these fragrances. You started off with a fragrance that I discovered last year -Jaipur EDT. It's quite potent, and a little goes a long way. Boucheron Pour Homme is a nice fougere. Also, I have Azzaro Pour Homme in giant bottle. It's a great bargain, and a modern classic that's still quite good in it's current formulation. I used to wear Grey Flannel and Stetson in my younger life. I sought out a vintage formulation of Grey Flannel, based on advice I read online. It's very nice, but the top notes are dull. At the same time, I sought out vintage versions of Paco Rabanne Pour Homme (2nd formulation) and Halston 1-12. I think they're cousins to each other. In addition, I picked up bottles of Halston Z-14. I've read that it's current formulation is quite as good. I like the formulation that I found. I wear Aramis and Havana, which you mentioned, by Aramis frequently. Again, I read that the current formulation of Aramis 900 and Devin are not as good as the original, but I think you've convinced me to at least try Aramis 900. I've also worn Lalique fragrances for years. I started with Pour Homme le Faune, but it was sadly discontinued. I found some minis online, and they bring back memories. I've switched to Lalique Pour Homme Lion and have yet to try Equus. Encre Noire is very nice, and I've read that the Encre Noire A L'Extreme is good too. Also, I've read that Lalique Hommage a L"Homme is good. I need to try it. I've been found of the House of Lalique for many years. Thank you again for showing that there are many great values available today.
The more I ventured on into my fragrance journey, the more I discovered it's not necessary to spend a fortune to buy a single fragrance, unless it is truly unique and outstanding under all aspects. Thanks to enthusiasts like you, I own all of the fragrances you mentioned (plus some other...). To your list I would like to add (if I may): Paco Rabanne Pour Homme, Sergio Soldano Uomo (black bottle), Open, Agua Brava, All Aramis's except those Which are expensive (Tuscany and JHL),. Anyway, amazing, amazing list!!! Waiting for Part 2...
Jaguar for men is fantastic. I have a small vintage bottle in the modern. I have to say the modern sticks around a little bit longer. But the Vintage is much deeper and Richer But not by much. It’s definitely worth buying at $16 USD here in the states.
Fantastic video gents - this is an excellent run through of some diverse, fun and characterful #fragrances - been buying #greyflannel #zino #quorum #stetson #tabac for years too. 😀 The value inherent in them is comparative to any of the big designers. As Joe says, you could wear a few of these in different seasons and stand out from the awful #dior #sauvage crowd too. I remember those first sprays of Grey Flannel and Lapidus PH - jaw dropping! #perfumes
Wow! You just reviewed 2 of my absolute favourites: Azzaro and Zino. Iove Jaïpur too. Thanks guys! Oh one of my other favs is Yatagan but the price is going up on that.
I like Azzaro Our Homme also. Finally bought a bottle this year. It cost be $17, and I was very pleased all the way around with it. Going to get some vintage soon.
Surprised Bogart Pour Homme wasnt on the list, but overall great video, very nostalgic having been around the 80's and 90's and seeing all these again.
This content I can relate to Azzaro and zino I've had for years and absolutely love them, I bought lagerfeld recently and it's fast becoming one of my favourites. Fabulous vid I would put forward myself for review YSL opium edt for review before it's discontinued
I really like these kinds of videos more! Thank you. And by the way I have a fragrance recommendation for you to try out Bijan for men cologne is a great amber fougere and I think both of you will love it.
Oldies but goodies for sure👍👍 those scents are just amazing! And much better blended than some expensive so called niche scents! & We must treasure all of them♥️ I love Zino♥️& The Aramis line is just amazing too! True blast from the past! Good job mates😉 Cheerio🥂 PS you should do a part 2 perhaps?
Oh god Stetson was my first ever fragrance I owned, and my dad gave me his English Leather. Mine were splash bottles, not spray. Memories of the 80s and early 90s!
Thank you gentlemen. As a woman, I enjoy Tabac quite a bit, especially layered with a rose soliflore for a touch of the feminine. Caron Le 3' Homme is another inexpensive gem that I really like; I wonder if it's still available?
I have a lot of memories with some of these, for example Jaipur my father got it from his wife when it came out and I was like there is no way I can use this one at least for the next 20 years probably and here I am loving it now, Lapidus I got some samples when my grandma gave me CK ONE as a present and I remember liking it I mean I knew It was a bit mature for me as a teenager but It was something really pleasant that i enjoyed wearing: Lagerfeld Photo it was used by my father too so the whole bottle it was like so modern at the time 1990 with black and flourescent green i remember saying this is something that I am goingo to wear when I get old hahaha, the ones that I want to own are: Perry Ellis.Perry Ellis, Boss-Number one, Gres- Cabochard 2019, Lancetti- Lancetti homme, cacharel- pour Lhomme, Lancaster.eau de lancaster, Fragonard.Zizanie, Very NIce content asl always guys!!
Hello from Oklahoma U.S.A.. I've been wearing Greg Flannel since the 90's. Out of my entire collection I go for it in the fall. Polo Green is another one I go for more than others in my collection.
I thought Tabu might've made your lists tbf. Other great cheapies that could've been included are Oscar De La Renta Gentleman or Pour Lui. Both awesome for less the £16 each. Boucheron Pour Homme about £22 for 100ml. Animale Animale beast mode Frag £26 for 200ml. Mauboussin Pour Homme £18 for 100ml. Roberto Cavalli Uomo £20 for 100ml. Moschino Uomo £20 for 100ml. Faconnable £16 for 100ml. Pinaud Clubman aftershave £14 for 177ml. Jeanne En Provence Neroli Intense or Acqua both £12 for 100ml. 0lenty of belters for about the £20 mark. I've only scratched the surface..
@@WaftsfromTheLoft I thought that might've been the reason. I bought a Violin style bottle first and the wife loves it so much she purchased a bottle the same day..
Thanks for repping these oldies but goodies. Only wish they still made Oleg Cassini by Jovan and Lagerfeld Photo. Have or owned most from your list and those I prefer have ALL garnered consistent compliments, year after year even through their newer formulations. Simple but gorgeous mens fragrances. Will add GBH soon (older gent at work allowed me one wrist spray, still detected it 2 days later). Only things that approach these beauties compliment wise are Dior H and Armaf CDNIM. And if anyone’s wondering, older men are not cheap - we’re just frugal!
Completely agree about Paul Sebastian Fine Cologne! I was looking for a stronger, fuller, richer, more fleshed-out analogue to classic Old Spice, and I found it in Paul Sebastian Fine Cologne. It smell remarkably similar to Old Spice. But as you say, it lasts all day. Lagerfeld Classic has some roughness to it, typical of 1970's and '80's "Powerhouse" masculine. Similar to Lauder for Men. Has a bit of dirtiness to it. Right on the border of likability for me. Not that easy a wear. Davidoff Zino does have a superficial resemblance to Tom Ford Beau de Jour, but it only goes so far. Beau de Jour is so, so much more complex and elegant. Beau de Jour is my favorite "barbershop" Aromatic Fougere ever. I believe Yves Saint Laurent Pour Homme was the fragrance in American Psycho. And finally, I would also recommend a cheapie that came a little later (1999): Oscar for Men by Oscar de la Renta. I believe it was de la Renta's second masculine fragrance after Pour Lui. Oscar for Men has this last-all-day tangy fresh "dirty orange". It seems like a fresher, cruder precursor to the "dirty orange" of Terre d'Hermes. It's in my personal Favorites Collection.
At least my Drakkar got a mention. Not in a good light but a mention. The only one I ever wore in your list was Stetson. What about Royal Copenhagen?? I wore that for years.
Couldn't agree more with your reviews of Jaipur. Amazing Frag for even 3 times the price. I've been wearing Giorgio BH and Quorum quite a lot this last 2 weeks. Blinding cheapies.Zino I find too faecal on my skin tbf. Grey Flannel is a classic. I also have Bowling Green which is also very good but not quite as good as Grey Flannel.
I have 4 on this list: Giorgio For Men, Aramis 900, Paul Sebastian and Grey Flannel. I love them all, but to my shame it's rare that I wear any of them. I'm 45, so I'm definitely in the right age group to be rocking these old school scents, the issue is I look about 30 so people often don't correlate my look with what fragrance I'm wearing. I can only wear the classics when I'm suited up, which isn't that often nowadays unfortunately due to working from home more, and when I am I'll usually reach for something else I like more such as Gucci Pour Homme 1, Gucci Envy, Givenchy Gentleman, YSL Jazz etc. The classics will have their day though, I'm never getting rid of them, so once I look old enough to pull them off they'll join my regular rotation. Great video though fellas, I've added a few to my online baskets to give a try. I'm not sure making a video in a chapel is the best idea though, the echo was really annoying after a while and made me feel a bit disorientated 😂
The edp of Jaipur much more balmy and always reminds me of a chai tea that I enjoy. Beastly projection too. "For the sole purpose of attracting women...at will...man can never have enough." 🤣 For some other great cheapies, check out Open and Open Black from Roger & Gallet. Couldn't believe that Open Black was released in 2012. Almost shocking. A scent that frightens children. And the aftershave splash of Quorum is a tad better than the edt too. I just decant it into an atomizer and it works just as well. YSL Pour Homme in the bathroom cabinet of Bale's American Psycho! Cheers gents!
What’s tough is missing out on the opportunity to stock up on the cheapies before they become more expensive and rare, for instance, my thought on Van Cleef and Arpels pour homme.
Just passing thur💯what's up fellas cool channel iam goin to try to watch 47 minutes long. , some of these cologne i never heard of before for that reason iam going to watch and learn p.s. i would love to smell that davidoff zino maybe ross or Marshalls might have it if ...if they have it i will pick it up✌ good job fellas.
Veeeery similar 😊 of course, Meharees is missing the class and refinement of Ravageur, but it is so close. I have to try layaring Meharees and Khiel's Musc, because I love the animalic kick from Ravageur (which it had before they neutered it, as I was told).
even though i have some nice niche fragrances i find myself wearing some classic cheapies quite often with my favourites being mandate, aramis and encre noir.
Dear Guys, Great video thanks for making a video about price and these absolute gems. Out of all the fragrances mentioned which contains heavy dose of Patchouli? Thanks a million
About Azzaro, the Pour Home Intense EDP (2015) is excellent, still has some of the OG but is more modern & boozy 😉. The Pour Homme Cologne Intense EDT (2021) is good too but very different, more of a fresh citrus scent (very different from Azzaro Chrome, although I love that too).
I bought Machrie on the strength of your review and it’s terrible. Smells OK for a minute or so and quickly dries down into a rather unpleasant little skin scent. I can’t believe you would have had the same experience. Is it possible I need to let it ‘mascerate’ or something? If so, how should I do that?
I hate Boucheron "Jaipur Pour Homme EDP", and in this case, I think that I would hate the EDT version also. I do like "Zino" by Davidoff, and I can like "Ted Lapidus Pour Homme". I hope to try some of the other fragrances which you both mentioned in this video.
Lapidus Pour Homme....I hear reviewers talk of honey, pineapple, amber....I get the brother of Kouros. And i'm not not mad about it. :) Love them both.
among all those fragrances from the past, my favourite and the one I wear and have all the time is QUORUM, I have a few fragrances (vintage old school fragrances) as the new fragrances do not have that strong character or solid personality as the old school fragrances have; I also have ARAMIS(1966), PIERRE CARDIN(1972), BOGART(1975), AGUA BRAVA(1968), BRUMMEL(1975), GIVENCHY GENTLEMAN(1974), ENGLISH LEATHER (1949)......... simply old fragrances are the smell of real men.
Great selection. You can find plenty of personality in new fragrances, but I think you have to look away from the designers, and even mainstream/luxury niche
That was absolutely fun!!! Really interesting to hear about your impressions. Not one really bad fragrance in your video came up. More like odd bottles, packaging and sprayers. I’m adding to the list for the rabbit hole. Ha! Let’s see. Dunhill for Men 1934 Dunhill Edition Royal Copenhagen (Black box) Oscar de la Renta Pour Lui (Just Wow!) Bogart Signature Boucheron Pour Homme EDP Monsieur de Givenchy Monsieur Musk by Dana (Amazing!) Jeffrey Beene Bowling Green Aramis Devin Cartier Santos (Concentre) Sergio Tacchini Lomani Pour Homme British Sterling ? (Lol not sure what it smells like now).
40:28 "If something smells good, wear it". Great video, thanks guys.
I'm usually ashamed about what I'm wearing when I watch your channel, but today? I'm wearing Aramis 900!!
Ha. Great comment. I like even the newer less complex Giorgio BH also. Good dry down. I remember the Halston well! Good.
One of my biggest compliment getting combinations is Paul Sebastian find cologne paired with old spice original deodorant. The old spice, original deodorant has a little bit of a floral/spice note to it that pairs well with the Paul Sebastian. Find Cologne. @@markcoffman494 sounds good. PS also has their own stick deodorant and it's pretty good quality.
Quorum was my absolute favorite back in the day. Though…Kouros is maybe my all time favorite for that time period.
Do you find it soapy?
Fantastic list and content, thank you! Jōvan - White Musk, Sung - Homme, Kanon - For Men, Geoffrey Beene - Bowling Green, Bijan - Men, Oscar de la Renta - Pour Lui, Giorgio - Red For Men, Hugo Boss - Number One, Jacques Bogart - Signature EDT...and my first signature scent from the 70's, Jōvan Musk!

Dunhill Edition too
I sort of see Grey Flannel and Fahrenheit on the opposite poles of the violet spectrum, Grey Flannel being very cold and damp, and Fahrenheit warm and dry.
Love this video. Thumbs up!
I suggest making videos on perfumes decade by decade like "Perfumes from the year 1960-1969" etc.
Some of my fav Oldschool cheapies are Versace L'Homme and Boss Nr 1.
Great video! Zino, Giorgio and Grey Flannel are probably my favourite classic cheapies. I also like Pierre Cardin Pour Homme and Sung Homme.
I forgot to mention Versace L'Homme, so classy for what it costs these days.
Own Davidoff,Lapidus and Jaipur edp…all already classics…I can imagine many of these, wearing some bussiness men/movie/rock stars back in the 80’…such evocative perfumes(most of them) from the best decade ever.

And GUORGIO RED is not harsh, in my opinion: more a dense, fruity chypre ❤
I'll recommend Bijan for men and Bogart signature both great cheapies
Thanks for the video guys
The absolute last place I ever thought I'd hear a reference to the Pontiac Silverdome. Brilliant. 😄
Oscar Pour Lui Have vintage Lagerfeld and modern version. Lagerfeld lovers generally prefer the new version.
True. Cause eventually the price gon increase and become rare to find
Lapidus is THE BOMB that lasts forever and doesn’t smell like anything else.
Excellent musk for a nightclub vibe
Great list.
I'll add here a few more :
Aramis, Halston z14, mandate, london burbery, open ( also by roger and gallet )
lagerfield, azzaro pour homme, jovan sex appeal, lapidus, and jaipur are the best ones on this list.
Kindly asking for a comparison video:
L'Erbolario Méharées Eau de Parfum
VS.
Frederic Malle Musc Ravageur
Veeeery similar 😊 of course, Meharees is missing the class and refinement of Ravageur, but it is so close. I have to try layaring Meharees and Khiel's Musc, because I love the animalic kick from Ravageur (which it had before they neutered it, as I was told).
Lalique Encre noir extreme is another amazing cheapie.
👍
ALTAMIR by Ted Lapidus is also a scent-dream 😃🥰
Must check that out
Is quorum soapy? Because i love the soapy smell in paco rabanne pour homme and kouros
even though i have some nice niche fragrances i find myself wearing some classic cheapies quite often with my favourites being mandate, aramis and encre noir.
Dear Guys, Great video thanks for making a video about price and these absolute gems. Out of all the fragrances mentioned which contains heavy dose of Patchouli? Thanks a million
Giorgio Beverly Hills For Men
Great variety! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I bought Puig Quorum. Now I have to try them all.... :-P
As always a great video.
About Azzaro, the Pour Home Intense EDP (2015) is excellent, still has some of the OG but is more modern & boozy 😉. The Pour Homme Cologne Intense EDT (2021) is good too but very different, more of a fresh citrus scent (very different from Azzaro Chrome, although I love that too).
great video guys,much appreciated.from phila,pa.usa.
SEX APPEAL is the cheapie, which easily could be the moooost expensive niche❣
finally video with this topic from u
I’m with you o alot of these but grey flannel I can’t do it man! It’s terrible.
Have you done an Aramis video? Seems like he has a few. I'd find that interesting.
Azzaro Pour Homme is fantastic.
Certainly is!
Great video, thank you. Would it be rude to ask for more?
Check out Anucci Men from 1989
I agree to some extent with all of these. My favorite of the bunch is probably Giorgio.
Some really important fragrances here. To your point exactly why they've been around so long. ✌
I would add Paco Rabane Pour Homme , Boucheron Pour Homme EDT or EDP anything from Lalique. Last mention Rochas Moustache edt a class act.
Zino Davidoff is the best of this list. Such a great great great fragrance.
Im strapped in for 47min, lets go!
That's what we need!👍
“Some of them might not even be around in the next 50 minutes.”Hahaha brilliant!!
Thanks.
In the book American Psycho wears Paul Sebastian fine cologne
I'm just mad for Grey Flannel!
I have Grey flannel “reformulated version” and it smells great I didn’t like the vintage that one was too oakmossy.
Lapidus Pour Homme....I hear reviewers talk of honey, pineapple, amber....I get the brother of Kouros. And i'm not not mad about it. :) Love them both.
It's rank rotten. One of worst i have smelt.
@@markdavidson9743 Give it wears and time.
among all those fragrances from the past, my favourite and the one I wear and have all the time is QUORUM, I have a few fragrances (vintage old school fragrances) as the new fragrances do not have that strong character or solid personality as the old school fragrances have; I also have ARAMIS(1966), PIERRE CARDIN(1972), BOGART(1975), AGUA BRAVA(1968), BRUMMEL(1975), GIVENCHY GENTLEMAN(1974), ENGLISH LEATHER (1949)......... simply old fragrances are the smell of real men.
Great selection. You can find plenty of personality in new fragrances, but I think you have to look away from the designers, and even mainstream/luxury niche
Tremendous content
Quórum one singular favorite anounced by Placido Domingo
What church is that?
Even though I can like "Ted Lapidus Pour Homme", I still think that most people wouldn't wear it past the year 1992.
I love you guys, I am not on Insta, so I need you 😃
Your tastes are outstanding!
Classy, cool and unique 😘
That was absolutely fun!!! Really interesting to hear about your impressions. Not one really bad fragrance in your video came up. More like odd bottles, packaging and sprayers. I’m adding to the list for the rabbit hole. Ha! Let’s see.
