Hi Mike, Same carb on my TD-20. It took me awhile to figure it out but found it not seated properly also. They are finicky and pour design. I love the copper tubes on it though that go so well with the original Sea Breeze paint.

I had a 2.5 Johnson of the same year, very similar. It ran fine but every time I tilted the motor up gasoline would leak out into the bildge of the boat which was. messy.

Have you ever ran into a cork float that looked like it expanded and would not ride up and down because it was hitting the sides ? In this situation would it hurt to sand it down some ?

I believe you can. Dry it out through. Coat it with shellac. Mike would know better of course. He's the pro.

Do you feel these vintage motors are as dependable as the modern ones? Once restored. Can they be used on a day to day basis so to speak.

Question on the plunger housing, both of my spacers or shafts fell out when the carb was upside down, does the small one face the same direction as the large one when you put them back in before the plunger goes in??? Anyone thanks for any info.

I just got one of these motors it fires when I put a little fuel in the cylinder so I'm pretty sure it's a carb problem I'm not sure I'm new to boat motors
