Sure will, my oldest that runs is a 1950 sportsman single. Sure could use a few things. This should help. I do have a pair of 52-53? 10s that I’ve not even really looked at that probably need something lol. The rest are 55 and up and like you say are a much easier. I do hoard everything I can find which helps although my collection of dual line tanks would fill the back of my suburban!! Actually scored about six serviceable ones this past summer. I wish I didn't need this video but I do, During the restoration of my 1940 Champion S1F Kingfisher I lost the contact points (X3438). I am now in full on search mode! I just inherited an old Johnson color of it is seafoam green I think it’s a 5 hp maybe less where do I find on the motor itself what this thing is exactly model number I guess I’m a newbie I don’t know anything about engines except they need spark and fuel ! I want to get this running and I wanna order some parts please help any suggestions are appreciated

Hey mike speaking of hard to find parts I just bought some parts for a 1956 mile master duel hose fuel tank,Will you think about doing a video on rebuilding one of these tanks or something similar any pressurized tank for the Older motors.
@@michaeljsimon you can actually spend quite a bit of money on parts for these things however I've been using one that belong to my grandpa for 20 years never had an issue pretty solid engineering I think,like the motors.
T-Mike thx! Curious in your opinion does check valves have to be taken out and one plugged off in behind carburetor reed plate? When using a diaphragm pump on the side of of cylinder plate to use vacuum as a pulse?
@@michaeljsimon I suppose I misinterpreted what you meant. I thought you were mostly referring to the availability of parts, not fully appreciating that you meant the ease by which parts are found. I am just now getting into old boats and motors, and want to learn as much as I can. I recently bought a '58 Lyman 16.5' with a '59 Johnson 35hp, and am considering a couple other old wood boats with motors of similar vintage. But, after watching your vid, I am inclined to avoid any motors manufactured before 1958--at least, I thought that I should, perhaps, avoid those motors. As an old boat novice, I know I have much to learn. Thanks for posting your vids.
I have a 1955 Elto 22 HP -I believe it was made by Gale (OMC) - is it the same as an Evinrude/Johnson 25HP with a smaller bore?

There should be a metal tag on the side of the bracket with a model number.

About 1955 and up I find are relatively easy to find (here in Canada) so I stick to those years...

Marine engine.com does not have diagrams for pre 1958.
