The front looks very nice, the rear looks as a melted chocolate bar.., not so good. But is rare that cars look good in the front and the rear. The a-pillars are also much to thick and obztruct view. Same with the the D-pillars and the rear view window; to small and hopeless to do any backing..
I had this as a rental last year in the R-Dynamics trim, I thoroughly enjoyed it. I travelled 11 hours in it and didn't feel tired or suffered a bad back.
I love this crossover exterior design but I hate Jaguar interiors. The only thing I miss about older Jaguars are the interior that looked if not felt worthy of their price. The new interiors look so cheap and Matt confirmed some of the materials are a bit lacking.
The car looks great, but i cant help but feel bummed out about the average interior. Its not bad, but is that really how anyone should describe an expensive crossover's interior? :/

Agreed, I tested one of these...the interior of my 2010 Infiniti is better... And when compared to the Q5, GLC or Macan...it's just out of its league. Exterior is great (though that front grill could use a bit less black plastic). The interior has a great layout (for some), it's just the materials that were really a let down. If I'm honest...I thought the same thing about the Evoque... It would seem the the Brits have a certain design language to their interiors that just isn't for me.

The v6 petrol is better than you think, I have averaged 30mpg and you get 375 bhp the fuel is slightly cheaper and it goes when you want to. The v6d has a fundamental flaw with spinning bearings, I wouldn’t touch one without a manufacturer warranty.

Who drives around with 1,5L bottles? Everyone I know uses 0,5L for the road, so having space for 1,5L would just make the 0,5L fly around... Not preferable :)
MotionPlays I like BMW and I drive 320d Touring but its interior materials do feel cheaper than in Audi or Mercedes. It is not the quality question but just a feeling. Personally I would take BMW X5, but for a lot of people driving quality and infotainment cannot overweight leather and soft plastic.

I have had my 2018 F-Pace Prestige (USA version) with tech pkg/vision pkg/comfort - convenience pkg/ for a year and no problems. Love the car. It turns a lot of heads and I hear a lot of "I didn't know Jaguar made an SUV". I did order it custom so it was built to my specifications and shipped over, so not purchased off the lot, so don't know if that made a difference as I have read / seen reviews of people who have had problems. Most stem from the infotainment system and most who have the basic In Touch Control but many with the In Touch Control Pro seem to have less problems and that system comes tie the tech pkg. I am also just getting ready to take it in for the 1st year service and will have the new infotainment update that includes the phone pack update and finally give us Apple and Android car play!

Why do you insist on giving all the details of the diesel engined versions of cars and bypass the petrol engines? Often as not, you'll say something like... "there are two petrol engines, but you won't want one of those, you'll want the two litre diesel." Actually, no, I don't want the diesel. Not anymore. And nor do a great many other people. So how about telling us about the deisel AND THE PETROL? Then we'll make up our own minds based upon our own needs. Surely that is why we watch these reviews in the first place, to help us make up OUR minds. Otherwise your reviews are brillaint.
Dont get how people are so negative about this car. Goodlooking, fun to drive SUV and yes this is my opinion but I prefer the looks over a GLC or Q5 or even a X3/X4 every day of the week. Improvements are surely necessary for it to be a full blown luxury SUV but I am convinced the F-Pace is at BMW SUV level easily.
Matt, I'm surprised you didn't show how tiny the armrest storage is and how flimsy the glove box is when opening. Also, the glove box isn't even lined here in the US. I noticed like you mentioned that the fuel tank is really small for a vehicle this size. Not much range per tank. I really, really wanted one but I think I would be settling if I purchased one. It does look awesome on the outside though. Maybe some of these quibbles will be addressed next model year.

Volkswagen and Jaguar cater to different markets so we do expect Jaguar to be of higher quality. Even its Audi competitor (Q5) doesnt have THAT much hard plastics.

I still hate the fact that they made a Jaguar SUV. They have LR for SUVs. I'd rather they made a hatchback to compete with A3, A-class and 1-series. And this name, F-pace (and rear lights), referring to the F-type sportscar is like... they are trying to make customers think that they are buying a V8 supercar and not a diesel SUV
Dmitry L to be honest, it's far nicer inside than the Disco sport. I looked at and compared the F-Pace, Discovery Sport , GLC - AMG and a few others and the F-Pace was the nicest overall package "In my opinion" . It felt more refined than the Disco Sport , and while it doesn't have the same infotainment system as the Merc or the XC60 , or even the nice seats in the XC60 sporty seat version , overall it is a lovely motor. Biggest flaw is the tiny fuel tank, smaller than on my Qashqai (another British built car... In Sunderland). It needs filling up every 350 miles, which is shocking for a big SUV. The Nissan gives me closer to 500 miles on steady drive but overall it's a lovely car and even the 180bhp 2.0 awd diesel picks up well and cruises nicely.
It's great looking indeed (especially in red) but I think I'll stick to Rang Rover Sport. The interior of the Sport is way better and after all I'll spend my time in it not looking it outside.
I don't get why people are bashing the interior quality. They use certain materials in certain places to ensure that the interior will still look like new in 10 - 15 years. VW used that stupid rubbery coating over their plastic interiors for years. Looked and felt nice when it was new but in a few years it's all rubbed off and looks RUBBISH. F-Pace door handles for example, are cheap and simple, but they will still look good years from now. It's built intelligently, and to be rugged, and to last. Same story all over the car. And before you ask, yes, I have one and I love it.
I sit inside f pace and was little disapointed how plastic fells cheap. But I hope it drives well because I haven't had chance yet to try it. Local dealer is so ignorant and doesn't respond.
I mean like I wrote. I wrote several times to local dealer for appoinment for test drive but he doesn't respond or just say to me that he doesn't have test car to try. Also JLR customer support is awful and if they are ignorant before buying what it will be if I bought car and had some problems with it. Indian poor customer standards and poor quality standards I guess.

I don't understand something: why F-Pace is compared with GLC, X3, Q5 when his platform is Băsescu, like name, on XF and RR Sport?! XF is in competition with E Klasse, A6 and 5 series, and RR Sport with GLE, X5 and Q7. The lenght of this model is also in the same range like those in big class. In lenght Jag allways had been a litlle shorter, but the distance between front and back axeles are almost in par with GLE

I went to a jaguar showroom yesterday and I have to say the quality of the interior in the F pace was very disappointing. The materials were of poor quality, the door handles felt like they were recycled from an old van and everything was scratchy and creaky. It's a shame to see Jaguar making so little effort to maintain their brand.
My JLR dealer provided one for as a loan car. It's OK. There are some lower level hard plastics - there are on all JLR products. No one seems to care (except motor-journalists) and otherwise the interior is fine. It needs to be driven quite hard to get the best out of the handling and I didn't like the lumpy, rattly 2 litre Ingenium.
but it is shame that Volvo/which used to be swedish brand/ is now owned by Chinesee and it is shame also that JLR/which used to be british/ is now owned by Indians. Maybe Matt is also proud to be british because mayor of capital city of England is Pakistani.

VW used that stupid rubbery coating over their plastic interiors for years. Looked and felt nice when it was new but in a few years it's all rubbed off and looks RUBBISH. F-Pace door handles for example, are cheap and simple, but they will still look good years from now. It's built intelligently, and to be rugged, and to last. Same story all over the car. And before you ask, yes, I have one and I love it.

Because it is. The facelift last gen XF was on point for all round quality. Since then jag have gone backwards which makes me sad :(
I sit inside f pace and was little disapointed how plastic fells cheap. But I hope it drives well because I haven't had chance yet to try it. Local dealer is so ignorant and doesn't respond.
I mean like I wrote. I wrote several times to local dealer for appoinment for test drive but he doesn't respond or just say to me that he doesn't have test car to try. Also JLR customer support is awful and if they are ignorant before buying what it will be if I bought car and had some problems with it. Indian poor customer standards and poor quality standards I guess.
indelebilis11 where do you live? The Jag customer care we've had has been absolutely superb. They bend over backwards to make sure we're happy.
notformebeaky I guess its different everywhere you go. My mate says that the service BMW gave him was excellent. But in my experience they have been dreadful at customer care. Even after I've emailed BMW 3 times about my 320 and I still haven't had a reply!
Overpriced and poor quality interior. My Mazda has LED front lights at half the cost. The only thing I like is the exterior look, best in class.

this Jaguar look nice but the price is quite high regarding to its size and the quite dull interior and the quality is not good even interior or the exterior. the exhaust look cheap and the plastic in the rare plumber. last thing is the painting, I can't understand why it is not good as Jaguar XJ
I don't understand something: why F-Pace is compared with GLC, X3, Q5 when his platform is Băsescu, like name, on XF and RR Sport?! XF is in competition with E Klasse, A6 and 5 series, and RR Sport with GLE, X5 and Q7. The lenght of this model is also in the same range like those in big class. In lenght Jag allways had been a litlle shorter, but the distance between front and back axeles are almost in par with GLE

I went to a jaguar showroom yesterday and I have to say the quality of the interior in the F pace was very disappointing. The materials were of poor quality, the door handles felt like they were recycled from an old van and everything was scratchy and creaky.
It's a shame to see Jaguar making so little effort to maintain their brand.

The Mercedes is much more classier to me. I don't need everything to scream Sporty. I don't like matte-black grilles on cars.

My JLR dealer provided one for as a loan car. It's OK. There are some lower level hard plastics - there are on all JLR products. No one seems to care (except motor-journalists) and otherwise the interior is fine. It needs to be driven quite hard to get the best out of the handling and I didn't like the lumpy, rattly 2 litre Ingenium.
P.S. Jaguar and Land Rover are owned by Tata an INDIAN company.
