February 2023 Black History Month, U-betcha! This is one of Motown Reconds finest instrumental backing tracks ever., with Earl Van Dyke & The Funk Brothers, James Jamerson on bass, Pistol Pete on drums, Ron White and Joe Messina on Rhythm guitars, Just to name a few of The Funk Brothers On this session. Written and produced by Stevie Wonder.
This is great! This song should be broadcasted on the radio airwaves as well as on the Internet. Finding this work of musical art is amazing. The only regret that I have is that almost all of the Funk Brothers are dead, but I will try my best to enjoy this favorite music of mine.
I heard this at the Apollo Manchester when the Funk Brothers performed, I felt like I was in the Snakepit when it was recorded.....Hairs on the back of my neck still rise every time.........Beautiful!
Incredible take and instrumental on this great stevie wonder written track and a must for all soulies big thanx for sharing with us also like their instrumental of ( ITS ALL YOUR FAULT ) the unreleased Supremes track
Robert White on the intro guitar and James Jamerson on the bass, Jack Ashford on percussion (tambourine, vibraphone), Pistol Allen and Uriel Jones on the drums, Bob Babbit and Eddie 'Chank' Willis on the guitars, Earl Van Dyke, Joe Hunter, STEVIE, keyboards....one word DYNAMITE!!!
Love the guitar. Great musicians. I have tried to listen to The Funk Brothers instrumental version of "For once in my life" but I have been unable to find it, shame I love it. Any ideas?
Stevie played the drums but you can definitely hear James Jamerson on the bass and Robert White is playing the guitar. They helped him on this one just like they did on Shotgun by Jr. Walker.
You can tell Stevie is playing the drums but Jamerson is definitely on the bass and Robert White is playing the lead guitar. That is the Funk Brothers on the horn section. They helped Stevie.

@@Suzyfromtheblock Yes!... but Stevie Wonder wrote it for them... he also took over the drumming because the original drummer hired for this song couldn't nail down what Stevie had in mind, so he played drums and the rest is history...
Some right-wing talk show host used this a couple of weeks ago. I think he's on what used to be Mark Levin's spot on KSFO. Why do I listen to these pundits of hate? You got ta, got ta, know the enemy

Never get tired of hearing this cut. Memories!
Great base by Mr. Jefferson. Best of Motown with Spinners, Temptations, Marvin Gaye, Stevie, Super Supremes, and I could go on.

I don't think this is actually The Funk Brothers, though. I believe Stevie played most of this himself.
Stevie played the drums but you can definitely hear James Jamerson on the bass and Robert White is playing the guitar. They helped him on this one just like they did on Shotgun by Jr. Walker.
