Kakilai, Thanks for making this video. I had exactly the same old ceiling light as yours. Also glad to find another Singaporean who like to "kakilai". Your voices also very inspiring especially with your good command of english. Keep it up. Subscribed.
I been using led panel for my house since 2014 damn good n long lasting i have 1 square panel at my living room wall, and bright, install in 2014 till now haven’t die yet,
for this type of LED ceiling light, would replacing the LED lights be a hassle in the future? because the led panel seems to be attached to the ceiling light base itself, whereas those replacement LED panels are all those magnet type
That's a great question! I share the same thoughts when I first did the unboxing. I think it will be a hassle to unscrew the LED from the base plate because the 3-section LED is being secured with a total of 9 screws, if we consider replacing the driver, that is an additional 2 screws (total 11 screws). But once we get past that, you will be able to use the magnetic LED panels. In fact, the same retailer is selling at just $12! Quite a decent deal if you ask me. The link is too long to be posted here but you can just do a quick search on Lazada for "beacon led light panel".
Could the power supply alone be replaced? I have similar led ceiling light for years but it could be light up occasionally. I think my led power supply maybe failed. I may try to look for one power supply and replace my existing one.
I think you are referring to the LED driver, yes you can find compatible ones and replace it. I did that recently with one of my lights but it wasn’t very economical. The full LED lamp cost ~$26 and the driver alone cost $16. It probably better to just buy the whole set and keep the LED light as a spare incase one burns out
You can either do a full replacement or just unscrew the existing LEDs and replace it with new LEDs that has magnets beneath to easily install onto the original light’s base plate
Your old light has 2 fluorescent, how come? Both on at same time or can each switch on separate? Then use remote control to switch or 2 switches? Seems like new LED is only one switch, so cannot save electricity use.
@@kakilai wha, your lights all so sophisticated (expensive). Wonder what is the toggle called and whether u can still salvage and reuse (no wonder your old light has another device besides the ballast). Sounds like good idea to save electricity, so can have 2 bulbs, one much brighter than the other, so as to optimise electricity use (reduce wastage).
Thanks... I saw taobao only few dollars.. can I buy from there ? And also buy ceiling led light need to have safety mark or tested passed label either one will do or both or no need to have it?
Yeap that’s true, you can either just cut a slot on the plate or just install it without any modifications which was what I did. The plate will be warped a little but it doesn’t affect anything
Hi I live in the UK and I purchased some lights with the same design of your led bulbs but my lights have both failed, I need to buy replacement bulbs bug Amazon can't help me, as this product isn't made in the UK I was wondering if you know of anywhere I can purchase these from
Hi, it is best to seek advice from a local hardware shop in the UK, so that in the event that the light doesn’t work, it’s easy for you to get a replacement from them. I typically do not buy lights from unknown online retailers for safety reasons. In Singapore, retailers are regulated and the products they sell have to meet certain safety standards to protect consumers.
Thank you so much for the video, i have a doubt, i have a similar model, one that is supposed to change when switching on/off fast the temperature of the light, but it is working the other way, once i turn on/off fast it maintains the light temperature and when i use it as per normal light it changes the temperature every time i left it open for some minutes, do you have a clue on what can be happening? again thank you so much!
Hi, just to clarify the LED lights are not dimmable. You can replace the LED itself by buying this www.lazada.sg/products/beacon-led-light-1415182024303536w-led-magnetic-panel-light-round-rectangle-panel-light-ceiling-light-panel-led-light-plate-ceiling-lamp-source-easy-replace-up-to-2-years-warranty-i515656321-s1522842201.html?
I didn’t do that cause the camera will auto adjust the brightness, so you can’t tell the different before and after. Oh and also the room is in a mess 😅 but you can be sure it’s bright enough for a normal hdb size bedroom/study room

Awesome thanks for the sub!

if the bulb spoil, must rechange the whole thing?

Seems like new LED is only one switch, so cannot save electricity use.
The old one has 2 lights that can be used independently. It’s single switch so you need to on/off to toggle which light you want to switch on.

😎 awesome , thanks don't fall off the ladder.
Is this magnetic acceptable or just normal led light? How heavy is it cuz I have no experience no budget also thinking can use super glue?
this isn't magnetic and you shouldn't need to use glue for this DIY

How the change the sequence od the light color mode?
It’s not possible to change the sequence for this lighting

Hi! Unfortunately, I haven faced that issue myself and I don’t have a solution for it..
Hi bro... may i know 20W light how heavy estimate 100g 200g 300g?
it been awhile since I installed it,but it’s very light probably around 100-200g
I use back the same old fluorescent round casing…just take out everything and buy those magnetic round LED with built in driver…no need to drill hole
Yeap! you can totally do that if your light casing is not out-of-date
If the led dimmable stops working how to replace only the led?

Hi
Nice video but this cannot be a DIY for the average person with little knowledge of how electrical circuits work
Worse decision every to use led light. S simple light change becomes a big project
