- It is definitely more fun in the Philippines when you meet this many welcoming, friendly locals!
When visiting a new city, it can feel like the same old story - tall buildings full with offices and no life.
Because of this, we try to travel as local as possible even when in cities. Staying in the suburbs, wandering from attractions by foot and interacting with people along the way. It helps us to really immerse ourselves in the culture and people of a country.
Today we walk to Fort Santiago and take you along to experience what a day in Manila can be like if you take it by foot.

Halo halo is literally mix mix... it evens out the flavor and the ice and condensed milk adds the refreshing feeling that makes your stomach full. Its a dessert/snack in one

You have been to the University Belt... the oldest University is located there... UNIVERSITY OF STO TOMAS.... good to go there on a weekdays or on schooldays... Lots of Streetfoods and Carinderias or eateries.Cheap food and it is the real and authentic Manila.
We had no clue, it was a pure coincidence, but a really nice place to stay! We saw lots of good looking street food. But we didn't quite go into Sto Tomas unfortunately!

I agree, touring a place by foot is awespne. When I went to Cebu 2 years ago, I toured the city by foot unless it was impossible to get to one place on foot.

Halo halo the purple ice cream is called Ube. Different from taro.
We had to Google it to see what the difference was! 😂
Halo halo is a mixture of different ingredients like banana, coconut strips , sweet beans, nata de coco or gulaman , a strip of jackfruit n top with ice cream , leche flan n ube on crushed ice....

For me, I get to eat first the UBE Ice cream (purple yam) and the Leche Flan toppings before mixing the HALO HALO. That way, I get to enjoy the Ice Cream and Flan separately without turning my Halo Halo purple-colored after mixing.
Oh interesting! Everyone has their own way of eating it I guess! Your way does make sense, I feel like we've been doing it all wrong 😂
@@DisappearforDays the ube ice cream needs to be mixed because if you ate all the ice cream and leche flan, you will just end up with a watered down and bland tasting halo-halo. this is the reason why everyone recommends everything to be fully mixed or else you'll suffer the consequence of a tasteless halo-halo in the end 😂

@@DisappearforDays yup.speaking of heaven,i watched how you immersed yourselves on islamic holidays in malaysia.we also have catholic festivities almost the whole year round.this august, there's separate festivals in cagayan de oro,albay and camarines norte (and cam.norte is famous as palawan and boracay of luzon with their white beaches)with their different patron saints.if ever you go in these provinces,dont eat full in just one house, because other locals may invite you in their houses as well. 😊

When are you going to travel to the island beaches?
There is nothing to see in the city except traffic and congestion but the kids are real.
They don't have much but are happy and kind.
We have a couple more videos out on our time in Manila, but will have beaches and other videos coming out very soon after so keep your eyes peeled! We loved Manila, the people really made Manila for us! Everyone was so kind ❤️🇵🇭

13:39 this is a part of the funeral tradition to host some gambling and players will pay a table fee every game (or a portion of winning) to the family who lost a loved one. You can see a picture of the dead relative printed on a tarp that's hung on the fence. Usually these funerals can last up to 12 days before the coffin is taken to the church then finally to the graveyard.
That's so interesting, we had absolutely no idea! It seems like an odd tradition to us. Do you know why it originated? Emma's gambling side wanted to join in, but now we know this, I'm glad we didn't ask to get involved as it probably wouldn't have been appropriate. Visit some of these place to know more of the history of the Philippines Corigidor Island the last bastion of filipino and American soldiers in world war 2 incredible unrestored ruins feels like Hollywood set , Vigan a UNESCO Philippines Spanish Town, Las Casas Filipinas de Acuzar a recreation of authentic houses and replica that mimic the bygone Spanish Colonial era

You have to visit the twin church. It's nearby that place in Bustillos Sampaloc Manila. Light a candle in St. Anthony church and pray for travel guidance.
Another thing, it's a common Filipino thing to knock 3x in church door and wish. That's if it is your first time in the church. So you will do it in every churches you first visit. Your wish will be granted as long as the intention is sincere without any hesitation.
Oh no! We walked past it so many times, but didn't realise and didn't manage to visit it! It gives us a good reason to go back anyway! 😜 We had no clue about the knocking thing, thank you for letting us know! 😄

You should mix the halo-halo well from bottom coz the sugar is in the bottom mix it from the start so that the ice will not get hard when they stick to the other ice you mix it like a .mixer

We didn't know it was called halo-ing the Halo Halo 😂 but thankfully Cendol in Malaysia is mixed the same before eating so we had it sussed out! We can imagine all the comments now if we had made the mistake 😬😂
