never forget Ernest Hemingway stayed at the Manila Hotel too. One of the ESPN writers covering the recent FIBA tourney this year specifically wanted the same room Hemingway stayed in because the McArthur suite is booked a year in advance. Trivia: the Manila Hotel's architect was American Daniel Burnham, who also was the architect of Baguio's Burnham Park.
Funny Hemingway seems to be following me. Aside from having my visits to Sloppy Joe's in Key West, he also stayed at the hotel where I had a drink on the rooftop in Havana. Excellent comment Luigi
Thanks for that info, missed the architect name Daniel Burnham in the video but recognized it in your comment for Baguio's Burnham Park.
He also designed the downtown Washington, DC that's why its quite similar to Luneta Park.
My first Hotel I worked with! We have very high standard and people are working as a team. I brought all the good memories and until this time I am still in contact with all superiors. Now I am in Europe … thank you Manila Hotel❤❤❤❤
I've never seen the inside of the Manila Hotel before, especially, that much content. Thank you for this video.
Thanks for watching!
I'm a Filipino. This is the first time I saw what's inside the Mla Hotel. Thanks for featuring it in your vlog.❤
@@ad1965lyn me too

THAT Filipina who showed you the building is good and smart. She is doing her job well.
Absolutely. Also, she is an intern.

My hometown NYC, thanks for watching!
Looks luxurious but affordable.
40 years ago they only allow couples to stay no single man before is allowed because they cannot bring women inside very strict 5 STAR HOTEL
The lobby changes to plenty of lights and plenty of cozy tables & chairs beautiful chandeliers wow‼️‼️‼️
I saw the movie of Christoper Reeves back in time
If one day i step foot in the Philippines this hotel is a must for me. Doing almost all my career in the botel management even went to a pretige hotel college in Ireland I love hotels with historical values.

How long will you be there making videos ?
I want to see them all.
Enjoyed your video I’m from the Philippines and thou you have seen the reality of our lives you are very accepting!thank you so much!
Wow!!! Manila Hotel is huge and beautiful. So full of historial building.
nice video, beautiful hotel. I need to stay there next time my family visits Manila. One suggestion when speaking with the locals, yes they do speak and understand English but it is a second language. if u want them to understand you better slow down, speak clear and limit western slang. enjoy the philippines it's a beautiful country with amazing people.
Common trap for most tourists, remembering the KISS principle Keep It Simple Stupid. But when you're vlogging understandably you tend to fall into the trap of feeling like you're communicating with your audience instead of the person in front of you.
I think McArthur lived in the penthouse of the hotel. He's very well loved and respected in the Philippines. Almost to the category of a king. 😊
@@JoeyZee-vs4kr I have fil in laws. They told me it's one year in advance booking with non refundable deposit.
Thank you for blogging this hotel MH.I work there for many years.very nice my memories.
Those are awesome uniforms the female staff wear in the breakfast cafe.
One of if not the best YT tour/vlog of the famous historic Manila Hotel. Beautiful.
Thanks Jim! 🙏
Such a great video Terry! I loved how you walked out of your room dressed in the robe and slippers, holding a can of beer in your hand, while everyone else was in suits and ties! I'm excited to see what's next!
Thanks Eva Marie! Stay tuned
@@BarefootVlogger hi. Do you know where in Manila, thank you.
Hello (Kumusta) Barefoot Vlogger! I really admire your video style. The Manila Hotel exudes elegance and truly transports you to another era. The female staff donned traditional gowns reminiscent of the Spanish period. My mom was honored with an award "Ulirang Ina" (Exemplary Mother award) at that venue many years ago! The detailed wooden carvings on that bench are characteristic of that time as well. You enjoyed an AMAZING breakfast! It almost resembles dinner food! The staff are exceptionally polite and welcoming. You got a taste of history too. So happy for you. Glad you're having a great time & more adventures to follow! Maraming salamat po for sharing your experiences with us. Onward & Upward! 😍😎😀CHEERS!
I love the traditional gowns! Wow, Elizabeth your mom had some great experience getting an award like that there. No higher honor than exemplary mother!
@@BarefootVlogger yes very proud! salamat po!😀

Filipinos tend to eat heavy breakfast- meat (tapas, tocino, chorizos, logganiza), fried rice, fried egg, pan de sal.

Manila Hotel me and my husband stayed there for one week the first floor change a lot before there’s a grand piano and cozy tables & chairs now there’s lots of lights and the refrigerator inside the room has beverages and they replaced it everyday and when you check out you pay the drinks you drank now I’m living in Japan with my family nice to see Manila Hotel after 40 years brings back beautiful memories 🥰🥰🥰
Thank you so much for refreshing me about the history of Manila Hotel. The last time I have been there was between 1976 to 1978 when my cousin used to work there as a carpenter when the hotel was under renovation. Your Vlog is educational and❤ entertaining ❤I was a freshmen college then:)❤
Hi there I’m new to your channel. I’m a Filipino American living in the Ph 🇵🇭. I have a radio show and an American radio show too being aired in California, Hawaii and New York.
Thank you for visiting our country i will be including you in my show for more mileage on your vlogs. Take Care!😊
Thank you for your support and kindness Mr Anonymous! I am a former reporter from Florida and appreciate your work
If am lucky enough to return to the Philippines once more, I will definitely stay at this hotel for at least three nights. I first visited in 1962 when I worked on the SS President Cleveland, and once more in 1989 on my honeymoon. I wonder if there is a library in the hotel?
I searched the hotel pretty thoroughly and didn't see a library but I suggest a tour of the Heritage Museum
It is near three national museums. There are 3 different buildings so I hope you can visit them one day to learn more about the arts, history, culture and many things about the country
Staid here my first 3 days on a recce tour of The Philippines. The breakfast was a daily 2 hour indulgence. ( the Chinese room or the large café). Pool had maintenance. Good you could use it.
Your view of the harbor is great. Yes, navy ships just in front of you.
Good location. To walk to Intramuros and cross the Pasig river into China Town.
Love your videos, Barefoot. I see you like historical stuff, talking about WW2 and Gen. MacArthur, etc. You should check out Corregidor Island located at the mouth of Manila Bay. It should be a treat. There's a ferry that leaves Manila once a day from Sun Cruise Terminal in Esplanade Seaside Terminal in Pasay City. Boarding time is 07:00 AM, and the estimated time of departure is 07:30.
Sir, a new subscriber I’m a Filipino but I live here in Florida. Good luck to your channel. enjoy in the Philippines.👍🏼
We are neighbors. Thanks for joining me!🙏
I am enjoying your video. I have stayed at the Manila Hotel and loved it. Your purple food has ube, a purple yam/sweet potato. I am sure before you leave the Philippines, you will eat some ube-flavored ice cream, which is very good.

We are booked here my big sister and I next year 2025 from January 22 to 28.The last time was in 2016. Is Robin the chauffeur at Manila Hotel still around?? He drove us in his limo to the Walled CIty and the Lucky Chinatown.
Good morning again idol BArefoot blogger enjoy in happy sunday idol nice place in manila.hotel in view in manila bay
WATCHING YOUR VLOG ROAMING MA ILA HOTEL, IT LOOKS LIKE I WAS THERE TOO. STAY SAFE.
I recommend reading: "Rampage: MacArthur, Yamashita, and the Battle of Manila" by James Scott. It recounts how the battle spilled into the Manila Hotel where many Japanese soldiers stubbornly held on to the Hotel against the determined American G.I.'s. It does describe MacArthur's life in the Hotel.
Great recommendation thanks!
Wow very nice hotel, thanks again sir for exploring my country. The beauty of manila hotel, is the opposite of Tondo squatters area.
Enjoy sir... have a wonderful stay in the Philippines 🥰🇵🇭 Stay safe ..🙏
