There are few electric vehicles that can accommodate more than five people at the moment, so the arrival of the Mercedes eVito is welcome.
Yes, it's more van or minibus than car, but if you require space, it has a lot of it. On top of that, it has a 90KWh battery and a ranger impressive 221 miles of stated range. Perhaps you can move all that junk via an electric vehicle?

Agree. No parking sensors & cameras on such a large vehicle is a right downer on a £52,000 vehicle.

Maybe we can use an aftermarket sensors and cameras?

Have the Peugeot E-Expert van. Reversing camera and sensors front and rear. Much better value. Does real world 150 - 180 miles on a charge. 2.3 - 2.8 miles/kWh efficiency at legal van speeds.
Headwinds are an e-van drivers enemy. Range sapping.
1200 miles done last week no issues.
£15 to fill it up at home!

So Nikki that van would be ideal for a project I was thinking about doing, stripping out the seat and compliant with DVLA regulations covering side windows, making it into a Campervan complete with bed, cooker, fridge and all important toilet. What more could a person need, as everything else is already supplied and comes as standard.
Thanks for showing - and how far along are you before dropping said package?

It is really nice to see car manufacturers offering electric vans, you are right, the absence of parking sensors is really surprising. Nice review! Thank you for sharing! ⚡🔌🚙

Nice review! I kind of wish you had a side-by-side comparison with EQV 3 row 7 seater

It's a good base for camper van.
    Just more utility than EQV.
Can't get by that price though.

The Buzz will be the first real electric van using the ev advantages; it will be interesting to see the pure e-vans and the space they can offer when they come along.

A good van driver doesn’t need cameras or parking sensors, useful yes. I’ve. Driven a service van for many years and could easily park it in a space 100cm longer than the van.

Sensors are a hinderance when driving a van, drove a LWB Sprinter for years without any assistance options and could easily get it into spaces barely larger than the van. Cameras are useful but sensors aren't, the company went through two upgrades in that time, first one was cameras and the second was sensors which made driving almost impossible with the constant bleeping at low speeds and when parking.

for MPVs i prefer those based on a van platform rather than a car/suv? that space long term use and utility that people under estimate for a MPV...

I pleasantly surprised that it can get over 200 miles of range, especially if that's achievable with the 9-passenger version. If someone would configure one as a camper version, I'd be seriously interested, but… I doubt we'll see them any time soon on this side of the pond.

Trouble here is, base e-Vito looks rough… so you spec higher… pushing it to £55-60k. That’s only £15k short of EQV, which in terms of looks and interior/infotainment is a much better proposition! It could do with another 50-75 miles of range, too, as some days you might be nearer 150 miles ‘real world’.
Better, Mercedes, but still not quite there!

Whow, we already seen manufacturs building passenger EV's that weigh between 2 and 3 metric tons to transport 1 person.
Now they show they can build big heavy EV vans to, lets hope those transport more than 1 person and a handbag.
Or, let them show they can build small lightweight EV that can do 200mls range.

can they at least change it up a little compared to the original vito/metris? everything looks the same the infotainment system is still very dated and small, can they invest a little more into cargo vans? cus commercial drivers are the real users of these vehicles, they're in the van for like 6-8 hours a day, they pay so much for a luxury cargo van, why can't you give them a bit more? as a current owner of a Metris, I can complaint all day with this van with only one positive, thats the size, amount of room and height, no to mention, give us a 4x4 or AWD in North America please, we get snow here as well..

Nothing new about electric delivery vans at all. But there's a damn good reason why they all went out of existence, and the e Vans will do the same. What a waste of frickin money for a many-making climate emergency fraud.

Thanks for the test, MB is too expensive and the inside of the vehicle is just too plastic and does look good, who designed those storage compartments? It's still the same like 2014 model and it uses a key that is on he left! WTF in 2022. The same with diesel powered versions. No thank you other brands do offer 5y warr. too.

Absolute ridiculous price for a typical poor quality Mercedes van. Interior looks dated and for that price I would expect parking sensors and cameras as standard. Bet it doesnt have electric mirrors either like the Sprinters we run .
