    Man, Imagine this car with a 100kWh battery. That would be great. But I don't think there is enough room for it on the short wheelbase. Thanks Bjorn, have a good time in Thailand now.

    Great roadtrip....my 23 Kona EV charges dog slow as well but at least it is very efficient and is not too "thirsty"! We pile on the miles though...4 months and almost 20,000 km....we love it!

    To put the charger implementation issue in context and I imagine this is similar across the EU: A 6 rapid charging station location drawing at 372 Amps if connected without battery demand support would need the same grid connectivity as a 23 unit housing estate.
    In the UK new commercial requests for connectivity that exceed the local loop capacity have to pay for that to be upgraded in its entirety. This may well account for why we have so few locations with more than 2 chargers.

    8:45:Kempower: "*375 A continuous in +25˚C with double charging outputs. Requires at least 2 output terminals connected at Power Unit, and a specific hardware configuration."
    In other words, you can not run a 300A cable at 375A if it do not have the correct configuration (for instance equipment installed before this option was available?)

    • @charliewhittuck
      @charliewhittuck ปีที่แล้ว +1

      For me personally it's actually cheaper. Last year it was about 5,500kr for november. This year 4,500kr. The government is subsidising private electricity more now. But in 2020 it was 1700kr for the same month. So roughly 3x for the last two years. Without subsidies maybe 5-6x!!

    If Toyota doesn't get it's BEV-act together soon, they may very well end up Kodak themselves....

    • @Mr820121
      @Mr820121 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      There is not enough mineral supply to replace every ICE car on the planet. For the amount of minerals in one BEV you can get 10 hybrid vehicles. Toyota knows that different parts of the world requires different types of transportation. Also there are emerging new combustion engine tech that uses hydrogen and has zero emissions. In other words for BEVs the future is not that clear.

    • @leftcoaster67
      @leftcoaster67 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Mr820121 That depends on battery chemistry. They are finding different ones all the time. It's more of a matter of when, not if. Be it ICE, or EV, they both need steel, rubber tires, electronics, springs, suspension, etc. If battery companies got subsidies like Oil companies get things would move even faster. Bottom line Toyota is being smart. They are using the hybrids to be the guinea pigs on new battery tech. The problem with hydrogen. It's leaks just with the car sitting there. And there are very few hydrogen stations to fuel your car. (There is 2 in the whole regional district I'm in ). The future of EV's looks a lot brighter than hydrogen. Hydrogen might be for aviation, maybe marine?

      nah its a completely different market with entirely different market dynamics.
