      No, it's just an overall issue with aerodynamics that has changed on newer cars, and the "Fächerdüße".

      There is actually a screw for adjusting it. You can adjust it perfectly however it will always be a compromise. Either you adjust it in a way that it works well on high speed and not so well on low speed or the other way around. This is due to the low power and because it spreads out so much creating very thin mist being influenced by wind easily.

    Where the RWD in winter really loses to FWD in (especially automatic transmission rwd to manual transmission fwd), is when you get stuck / have to maneuver the car in tight spaces with very limited grip levels (plain ice) or in heavy snow (relevant, in Finland at least, maybe 7-14days per year few day at the time (certain weathers)). Also usually there is some incline or slope present in the problematic situations :D. You just don´t have the same amount of tricks you can do by driving to manage the situation/get moving, and have to accept to find another place to park or go shovel/push. :D Good winter tyres help alot, but still..

    A bus like this one should have the windscreen washer integrated in the wiper. You need much less water, it gets everywhere, the speed doesn't matter. But it is more exprensive for the manufacturer.

    @6:40 I still think that the right side _is_ actually the right side. That's where curbside chargers in cities are mostly located. If the charge port is on the left you have to route the cable around the car, and the plug is sticking out into traffic.
    Even better would be a charge port more to the middle of the vehicle (e.g. in the B-pillar), as this would be accessible with a 5-meter cable in most cases, regardless of the charger position. Eg. in cities there is often one charger for two parking spots, i.e. the charger could be behind the car or in front of it when you park.
    @22:45 the spray nozzle should actually be on the wiper for a large windscreen like that.

      @darekmistrz4364 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can park the car facing the other way (well not in all countries). But it being on left side, it's so much more convenient if you need to unplug it after you get into car, sit behind steering wheel and get a message that charger needs to be unplugged

    OK, the suspension and tracking VW got very well done in all their BEVs. Unfortunately the software in our Skoda lacks a bit too many things (ME3.0)

    A big van is the last type of car I need, but looking at the ID Buzz my feeling is just "I want one!". Awesome job VW.
    I find it disappointing though that it indicated 44% SOC at arrival, but it actually arrived with 14%. Does the VW navigation not consider inclination, altitude temp or both? Or was Björn just hammering it? Especially for EV novices this is not acceptable imho. A few percent is OK (with normal driving), bot not 30. EV's need to have dependable range info without the need for external apps. If ABRP can do it, why not VW?

      At 1:07 you can see that the planned route includes 5 minutes of charging at the point of arrival (Circle K Geilo). This is why it estimates 44% SOC. If you deduct this charging stop then you probably would still be off by a few %, but not 30.

      Rear where drive has never been a good option. When young, 50 years ago people like me made rubber band power cars, and rwd was terrible and spun out. In later life engineering taught us that it was unstable, and the petrol ford Mustang taught us it was hilarious.

    • @tomooo2637
      @tomooo2637 ปีที่แล้ว

      The main issue I see with people is that outside racing and rally, oversteer will catch people out as the action when you screw up is counterintuitive ,while fwd is intuitive, just turn the wheel more.
      How many times have I seen someone exiting a junction and in a rush to catch the gap. In a fwd they spin the wheels, in rwd it spins out and hits the curb if they are lucky

    • @ouch1011
      @ouch1011 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Depends on weight balance. A RWD car with a heavy rear weight bias will be unstable (like a Porsche 911, especially an old one). A RWD with a front weight bias (like most RWD ICE vehicles) will have poor traction in poor weather since there isn’t enough weight on the rear tires, but as long as they’re engineered by someone with a basic level of competence, they aren’t unstable. A RWD EV with all the weight in the center of the car is incredibly stable and will have better traction than FWD, hence the reason that pretty much every EV is going that way.

      Because he is TeslaBjorn, so if Tesla does it one way, that’s the only correct way.
      Or maybe it’s because the right side is the passenger side in Norway.
      Or maybe Norway doesn’t do parallel parking.
      Who knows.
      There is no right or wrong side because any side will be wrong in some part of the world. I think the front makes the most sense because the vast majority of chargers (around here) have you pull straight in, but I also live in an area where it doesn’t snow much and we don’t salt the roads (thank goodness), so there is no chance of charging port getting covered with snow/ice/salt like it does in Norway. Again, there is no answer that is right in every situation.

    • @nordemoniac
      @nordemoniac ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Of the 4x2 cars, RWD is best in the winter. FWD will loose grip uphill, while RWD gain grip.
    Where I live it's not uncommon to see my neighbors reversing their FWD up the hill.

    • @tesla-spectre
      @tesla-spectre ปีที่แล้ว +4

      With EVs I think RWD is always better than FWD (aig one cannot have AWD). when testing EVs to select mine I often experienced that the wheels tended to spin in an FWD car, brcause it could not bring the torque on the screen, practically never happens in an RWD RV

    • @james.telfer
      @james.telfer ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Maybe, but you're more likely to spin out in a RWD. FWD is pulling the car in the direction of steering, RWD has no direction control so too much power and you can spin out.
      Obviously, modern traction control can counter most of it, but the physics remains the same.
      Still remember watching an ICE BMW trying to handle a mild slope in freak London snow - basically doing donuts cause they used too much gas 🤦

      @stickygeiden ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MichaelEricMenk so why all new bmws I saw in winter are spinnin’ out then ? Stop your bullshit, the electronic you need in a RWD to maintain the vehicle on the road is useless in a FWD, just that prove that FWD > RWD

    • @ouch1011
      @ouch1011 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Depends on the propulsion. For front engine ICE cars, FWD will be better since the entire drivetrain sits in front of the front wheels, so there is a significant front weight bias. On RWD, there is typically less weight on the rear tires than the front, so there will be less grip. You won’t get enough acceleration force to get any significant weight transfer in a low grip situation, so that’s an invalid point.
      For EV, RWD will always be better than FWD because there isn’t the front weight bias (due to the substantial weight of the battery) and the weight of the motor will be over the drive wheels regardless of which wheels are driven. FWD will offer better regenerative braking in low traction conditions, but I don’t find that to be worth the improved acceleration traction of RWD in all situations vs FWD (again, specifically for EVs) and the improved handling of RWD vs FWD (due to the separation of duties for acceleration and turning)
