Getting Rolled Over Salvage Chrysler Aspen 5.7 Hemi To Run, WITHOUT A Key!

  • Some of you wanted to see some other sides of the salvage industry, so here it is! I'm trying some new type of content! As my returning viewers know, I own and run a full service auto salvage business called ‪@importapart‬ located in the Saint Louis area.
    We buy wrecked, totaled, and salvage vehicles and sell the parts from them, recycling the rest.
    Often times, these cars come in without keys, missing parts or parts damaged that make it a challenge to start and run the engine, or drive the car. The parts we sell we like to test as fully as possible, so we will go through some length to get engines running to prove or disprove their condition. This is one of the things I spend a few hours a week doing. Whether its programming new keys, swapping parts, repairing harnesses, that's part of the job.
    I recently bought some property that had this 2007 Chrysler Aspen beached in a car port next to the house. The previous owner bought it at the auction several years ago, cut the cats off, scrapped those and the wheels, battery and left it on some bricks in this carport. I dragged this thing back to the shop. This isn't a vehicle I would normally bid on at the auction but I want to make the most of it and I would hate to throw away a good 5.7 Hemi.
    This video shows our normal process for cars that come in needing some work before they'll start.
    If you'd like to see our inventory you can go to www.Importapartsales.com or email us at Importapartsales@gmail.com.
    I really hope you enjoyed this video, as always, I love all of the comments, feedback and even the criticism. Catch you all on the next one.
    -Eric

    Junkyard revivals, full engine teardowns, fixing unique cars, I watch all of it. I feel like you are one step away from just wearing a bodycam and hosting live everyday, then still edit the content for regular videos. This gives us insight into your day to day, and that is always great. Keep up the content, good bad gritty and ugly it all has a home with papa Eric, and your videos are great too!

    My jeep engine just blew up so I bought a 2008 Aspen Hemi, it's a rocket for a big heavy car. I love it. Everything works and it has everything. They stopped making it because they closed the plant where it was made, not because it was a bad model. It goes to 4 cylinders on the hiway to save gas. It's great wand will be my last car.

    • @sdannenberg3
      @sdannenberg3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I learned something as well. Now what I want to know is, what is he actually doing? After taking the cap off, is he physically pushing a plunger down or something to close the switch inside?

    • @castinn
      @castinn ปีที่แล้ว

      @@sdannenberg3 It looked like he had something shoved under the relay, probably to bridge the two pins on the control side to energize the relay and close the contacts on the load side. Maybe a piece of flattened tin can cut a certain way.

    • @sdannenberg3
      @sdannenberg3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@castinn But then why does he need to take the plastic cap off the relay?? I just went and took a spare one apart and I still am confused lol.

    • @castinn
      @castinn ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@sdannenberg3 You are right, he removed the outer shell of the relay. This would allow him to push on the part that closes the contacts on the load side. Never thought of that. On this relay, the wide lugs are the load side - where the heavier current flows. The smaller lugs are the control side (the solenoid) that has a small current flow. @6:27, it looks like he is pressing on the end of the solenoid that bridges the contacts so current flows between the larger, heavier lugs or spade terminals. Some relays have 4 terminals that allow the relay to be plugged in two different positions. These relays, however, have 5 terminals arranged to only allow one orientation. Tyco 4671168E 72472V

    • @jamescole6846
      @jamescole6846 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@castinn Yep, I agree. This is just a small magnetic solenoid. Power from the ignition energizes the coil pulling the plunger to make contact with the starter leads. Been working on cars all my life and never thought about doing this. I have always just used a flathead to arc the starter relay usually on the starter motor. This is much easier.

  • @charger664404
    @charger664404 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Definitely keep it up! Maybe even a day in the life style video? Film parts of your average or not so average day, drive to work, shipping out orders, buying vehicles from insurance auctions and just random day to day stuff but from beginning of the day to the end! Or maybe a what the heck happened here type video, show some mangled cars or trucks and try to use clues to figure out what happened to the vehicle or don’t tell us and let the viewers speculate on the events that lead the vehicle to you! Maybe if you know the details then make it a contest to see who can reconstruct the events based on clues pointed out in the video. Whoever gets it right or closest to right wins! If more than one then do a bonus round tie breaker?
