I don't use power armor except to go to the Glowing Sea, but I still collect as many suits as I can. I've got my own little terracotta army clogging the streets of Diamond City by now.

There is a third option for A Loose End. Give Virgil the cure and wait a few days, return to his cave and he will be human again. You can then tell Captain Kells he is no longer a Super Mutant and you get the power armor piece.
i didn't do kells quests till I killed rr and inst, so I had to kill poor virgil

There is a chest and arms set called the 'Tesla T60 armor' with all 3 pieces equipped increase energy weapon damage :) trouble is I cannot remember where I found them :(
The Tesla Armor is part of the Automatron DLC right after you meet Jezebel. There's a female Rust Devil in a suit of power armor that includes those three. Same person drops the Tesla Rifle unique weapon.

I ended up getting the visionary t-60c helm by convincing Captain Kells that he isn't a threat which is easier instead of going over there
I know this sounds kind of silly but I wish you didn't have to almost exclusively do brotherhood quests to get the the Legendary Power Armor pieces

Already been one year of your comment but here i go. Pair Tesla's Power Armor pieces with Aeternum from Nuka World DLC and you have yourself a pretty powerfull nearly unstoppable war machine.
If you have the Automotron DLC you can get a pair of arms and a torso piece that are legendary if you play though the quest. Tesla Power Armor I believe
I am going to use that set, and Im going to use UCO to put the overboss PA torso legendary mod on a t-60 torso to truly have a tesla set
I died a little on the inside every time he referred to the isotope of Uranium he just called it "isotope" ;P
I have been pretty disappointed in the unique items so far. Usually they end up being weaker than the stuff you already have, or their unique quality(i.e. the Visionary's Helm only refreshing your AP) is pretty lame. There's never a point in the game where you just feel super strong like there were in NV and FO3. Maybe that was intentional, but I always enjoyed starting weak and ending like a God lol.
A couple additional paintjobs. T-45 can get a 'minuteman' paint job. T-51 gets a Railroad tactical black paint, and the T60 can get the brotherhood paintjob. These are specific to their respective armor suits.
Don't forget about the Institute paint job on the X-01 Power Armor
While completing the mission to get the Ashmaker, i accidentally clicked on the wrong wall for the robot to destroy. I ended up uncovering a full Set X-01 power armor with a Mirelurk King guarding it!
I found the X-01 too, but missing right arm and right leg :(

+TOBI OBITO I know this thread is old, but I once found a full set of X-01 armor lock in a small cage in S. Boston military checkpoint, thankfully with Nick's hacking skill as my companion. I did find another X-01 suit but only with the left leg, arm and chest piece in the abandoned shack in the glowing sea. Just to toss the location out there if anyone wanna find the another armor suit.
Awe man, I wish I known about these special pieces sooner, I went ahead and destroyed the Brotherhood of Steel :(
Tessa's Fist is absolutely useless. Unless you are interested in getting power armor pieces and potentially heavy combat armor, don't bother. It is a Raider Power armor fist so it has miserable protective stats and Quincy Ruins is quite tough on harder difficulties because the named commander on the church roof normally has a missile launcher and takes a path that makes him very difficult to snipe from the ground. Most of the time he, along with 4+ normal gunners and Tessa will all engage you simultaneously.

Randy Savage I actually play on Survival. I have a fully fletched melee and unarmed build with both the stats maxed out, maxed out blitz, and 13 strength.
TonierShadow You are still basically paying the price of repairing your power armor limbs for just the absolute worst piece of power armor ever. I farm it on a gunslinger build for legendaries without power armor and even with the ability to stack 8 crits in one vats It can be annoying to manage all of the missiles and plasma bursts.If it gave more protection than basically a combat armor arm I'd be more for it.

Tbh i completely forgot that we are talking about Tessa's fist. XD I think what i was trying to say is that the fight to get Tessa's fist is not that hard depending on your build, but you are right Tessa's fist is the worse.
You can finish the virgil quest by getting far enough in the main quest and curing him, kells will accept this as a satisfactory end.
You can also buy the atomcats paintjob for like 4k caps. The lack of paint job mags is annoying frankly.

ANYTHING seriously, it's painful and the fact that you can only paint certain armor models with certain factions, I want to paint my x01 minutemen but I can't.
+e Well I was hoping that you can make your own custom paint jobs like in forza motorsports. But I guess that mods has to fill that out.

loved the cambridge lab quest.very cinematic. but the torso is less powerful than the one you get from the hot rod power armor guys

It's not called isotope, it's Uranium but it's the isotope of Uranium with an atomic mass of 238 so it is really good for nuclear reactors.
Also I found the creepy parking lot and pink hot rod paint myself and I felt awesome.

Siding with the institute can net you two unique power armor paint jobs. The first one is a special unique X-01 paint job, just complete the institute storyline. The 2nd is a T-60 power armor with the Brotherhood Elder paint job. You get this by killing & looting Maxon in the final fight against the brotherhood by siding with the Institute.
I got him to turn himself in and I killed the ghouls. With him standing right there. I got the power armor too!
That quest was such a pain because after done talking to him (after convincing him to turn himself in) the slightest touch would turn him hostile to me an extra 30mins took complete it.

There’s a couple of other options I’d like to add that you didn’t mention.
1.) In “Duty or Dishonor” you can still open the door that leads to the ghouls and get the Exemplar’s Torso. Just pass the persuasion check with Clarke first to turn himself in. You can either hack the terminal to have protections kill all the ghouls or just open the door with the keycard.
2.) It’s not necessary to even speak to Virgil in order to get the Visionary’s Helm if you’ve completed the main story/misc quest where.. *SPOILER ALERT*
...you give the serum to Virgil and turn him human again. After that, all you have to tell Captain Kells is that he is human again (Persuasion check). He will then give you the helmet without you having to do anything. This option is much easier in my opinion.
Don't forget the tesla chest and arms you get in the atomatron add on those are wicked looking

I kind of wish that I could build a full set of legendary power armor without joining the brotherhood. I myself am on team railroad with my current play though I found the radioactive chest piece and tessa's fist and was wanting to make a patch work armor of all unique effects. Oh, well.
just try to get full sets and then start customizing so u have variety
You can complete the brotherhood quests to get the Power Armor without locking yourself into that faction

Even though this is a bit old, TwoDynamic you can also get 'The Lost Patrol' mission from Paladin Danse if you work with him early on in Cambridge police station.

Kenny B If you play on PC, you could use console commands to get them, if not, I am sure maybe there is a mod that adds them to a different store or something! Even for PS4, that shouldn't require new assets...

All disappointing power armor pieces... I'd like to see some X-01 pieces rather than raider or T50/60 pieces.
Good thing he made videos on where to find X-01 suits? Or better yet, he made videos on where to find power armor. Because any power armor that can be found in the game that isn't gifted to you by a character can be one of those rare sets of power armor. If you want a whole bunch of X-01, just avoid the spots where the power armor spawns until you're a high enough level to get the kind you want and bam, you got what you want.
Just because one video doesn't give you what you want doesn't mean there isn't another that does.
Side with the Institute for an exclusive X-01 power armor paint job. It may not be legendary armor but it's something.

GoodWithHands27 That's not "legendary" X-01 power armor... that's simply X-01 power armor. I'm talking X-01 models of stuff similar to Piezonucleic and the like. Most of the legendaries so far are raider power armor which sucks ass.
The Tesla armor from the rust devil is really nice to in the mechanist quest
You can pick up the Lost Patrol quest at the National Guard training area as well

For power Amor piece 2(the visionary) if you cured Virgil before you did the duty or dishonor as soon as you complete duty or dishonor you can immediately finish the next quest.
+TwoDynamic , I did manage to get the first piece of armor although i did kill al the ghouls. This happened because I told the Clark that I was going to kill the feral ghouls, because they where a threat to the brotherhood and he seemed to agree as i persuaded him. So i am just letting you know man, keep making your amazing videos!!
You got a 3. Option with Virgil.
If he is heal already u can try to tell it to the captain and if your Charisma is high enough he will let him live and you get your Power Armor
Hey just saying as a bit of interesting information from past experiences with fallout 4. If you can strike a home run with the 2076 worlds series baseball bat on someone in power armor there is a chance it will knot them / force them out of their power armor frame due to a bug with enemies sometimes not being able to get back on their feet when in power armor.
From there if you find an empty frame with no armor on it (HAS TO BE AN UNTOUCHED FRAME) sometimes if you tell your follower to get in the frame before you ever do they have a random chance to cause a bug in the game that will spawn a piece or more of armor on it.

You can run a fully legendary set of t60 if you count the Tesla armor as well

For the virgil quest if you transform him back to human when the quest is given you can tell captain kell's and he will accept that as a third ending
BTW same place with the shark paint, do the Atom Cats' quest then you can get the Atom Cat paint from Rowdy, the vendor
How I persuaded Clarke, I save'd the part where It says turn your self in. So if I failed I'd try it again so I could get the armor, this might useful
7:35 I remember I went their for the kid in a fridge mission I had x01 power armour and there were like 3 bosses including Tessa I killed 1 with a mini nuke
you can actually find virgil's serum in the institute and when you give it to him you have to play the game a bit and then you can go back and check on him and he is human, you can tell that to lancer captain kels as well

I came to Quincy ruins by mistake, ( I was exploring) and I didn't know this at the time. I never knew what it was until I picked it up, its also where I found my rapid .50 cal sniper
Not sure if anyone has mentioned, but if you get Virgil the cure and he has already turned back human you can pass a speech check with Kells stating that he is human again and no threat to complete the mission and get the helmet.

this is pretty late but I've been playing Fallout 4 alot recently and when I was playing the duty or dishonor mission I collected holotags in the tunnels and done the speech check with him and he didn't turn hostile when I did it maybe you need the holotags to do it

The 'Tessa's Fist' can be find anywhere in the map also around the house that very easy for new players. The easiest one is in 'Outpost Zimonja', it is on the east and a little north from the sanctuaty hill. Hope you find it.^^ (you will need the power armor, because the TESSA'S FIST find with the boss there(he wear it (he weak)) you just need to use power armor for safe the damage and just keep shot him with any gun(shot gun is good) and just keep move back, do not leave him attack you much. 👍🏻👍🏻

For duty and disonhonor in the ruins you can find a dead knight called knight Rees take his holotag and show Clarke so you don't need to pass the speech check
When it comes to power, I only need my full titanium xo1 armor, aka Titan suit. I always get the xp's tearing the flowing sea apart with that armor and my furious stunning super sledge.

You can also get the Lost Patrol quest from Danse while in the police station.
If you pick up all unidentified samples you will be stuck with them in your inventory forever, you also don't need to put them in order, it will work no matter which one you place on left or right. Placing gold on the left or right won't matter, the end piece will always be a T-51 believe me I tried many times to get it in an X-01 or at least a T-60.
I know this is 7 years later but mine just spawned as t45. Not too happy bout that
