  • Hello, and welcome back to the channel.
    I have finally decided to pull the trigger on a new transmission my for 03 cobra.
    I have stated many times, that my personally my biggest gripe with the Cobra has been the shifting smoothness. From everything I have read and heard, this IS THE FIX. The T56 Magnum is essentially a TR-6060 which is the go-to transmission for the Viper, Corvette, Camaro, GT500, and many more high horsepower RWD applications.
    I also talk a little about the internals, drivedshafsts, and crossmembers.
    Also, hit upon my home security camera setup. They are 4MP Hikvision ColorVu

    I would love to go Magnum someday. Soley for the shifting effort as mentioned. I had a 2008 GT500 before my 2004 Cobra and that TR6060 was the cats ass, even with the stock shifter. Buttery smooth. You’re gonna love it man, happy to see that car get such a nice upgrade to compliment everything else!

    I like the stiffness of the stock trans 🤷🏼‍♂️ it’s part of the terminators character. You start changing the big stuff then you losing that terminator feel. That’s just my opinion tho, I like more of a stock car! Keep the killer vids coming!

      And here I am 9months later with a magnum transmission 😆.
      Hope the comments help the algorithms 👊🏼

    I love my T56 Mag...really a TR6060..great box...some mods were needed..1) driveshaft shortened 1/12”..new yoke..and high strength u-joints$ 375.00..2) trans cross member slotted..did it at work..didn’t know about Stifflers...!..3) electrical plug is on opposite side..so wire harness had to be lengthened...that trans goes through gears like a hot knife through butter..awesome shifter..no missed gears...cool vid...

    I'm currently running a 6R80 in my 03 and looking into the T56 magnum. I bought the car last year with the auto in it. Got a lokar select shifter and using the US Shift Quick 6 controller for it. Works great! barks 4th gear at 100mph. tuning it is easy with the controller. But it still isnt a manual. They suck when traffic is backed up but the overall feeling of driving with a manual is what I miss.

    • @Intervention302
      @Intervention302  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That is kinda my feelings. I know it would be faster with a 6r80, but the T56 magnum seemed to be the better choice for me

    Very informative video ty. What’s max power the magnum can handle though? 7-800? I’m building an ‘03 with 78mm turbo. Can I run this trans or am I going to have to go auto 😢

    The only drawback IMHO to the Magnum 6 speed is that MGW does not make a shifter for it and the Magnum shifter is so-so. You also need a shorter driveshaft but I bought the complete D&D Performance kit for mine which included the shaft & bellhousing. Stifflers crossmember is an excellent idea too because it not only fits but it comes with various adjustment grommets which you may need for proper alignment. It is critical that when the magnum is installed to get your pinion angle checked and if necessary adjusted(especially if your cobra has been lowered). I skipped this step with mine and had severe driveline vibration issues.

    • @racequad9
      @racequad9 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Where did you purchase yours from? And how did you fix the pinion issue? Is there some sort of tool required to make sure everything is aligned?

    • @tomkjr1
      @tomkjr1 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@racequad9 You need an experienced mechanic to make sure the kit is installed correctly and pinion angle is right. I bought my complete Magnum kit from D&D performance.

    Yes the 2.97 is trash in my opinion cause 1st is shorter 3rd and 4th are taller and fall on there face. The 266 178 130 100 80 63 gears are essentially perfect . look up a stock c5 zo6 speedo vid you will see what im talking about. The early 5th gen ss camaros had similar gearing in the manuals, its terrible. Some of the ls3 vettes had the shorter first gears to you have to be careful when buying them. The z51 option c5's had it too. I despise the 2.97 t56

    Does yours have the “box of rocks” gear rollover noise at idle with clutch pedal disengaged? Don’t lie! lol jk 😂
    But really,just finished installing mine and on idle the gear rollover noise is kinda bad,pretty irritating considering the price we spent on these transmissions and from I hear and read its normal,waiting to see what D&D says about it..
