    Thanks so much for making this video! I'm not a supra guy. I have an all stock 06 Pontiac GTO that needs a transmission. Doing some research, and seeing that places like Tick want 4200 bucks for a bolt in magnum with a modified Fbody/GTO tailhousing. Then i find your blog on your website and realized Tremec is cutting out the middle man for us guys with OEM applications and selling it direct for essentially the same price as a box stock magnum. This is big news and nobody is talking about it!

      I have a stroker 383 with an LT1 based T56 in my 89 formula firebird. My car was a factory 305tpi / 700r4 car but I didnt have to cut my tunnel farther back. I attempted a lt1 center console and it all fit perfectly fine. The console was junked and I made a custom metal one to hold my switches in something stronger than plastic. This was back in 2001 or so when I built that car. I still have it. The biggest problem back then was getting a clutch to hold and actually last because the engine was a bit over built for driving on the street but I did it anyway. You dont need to cut up your tunnel to run a T56 unless you moved the engine back, as far as I know. I think I remember something about t5 cars that went to a T56 would have to cut about an inch off the back of their tunnel's shifter hole. I don't know your build though. The T56 conversion was rather easy with a car that started off as an auto

    As far as i seen the tr6060 in Australia have removable bell housing like the magnum but the same flange output and remote shifter with the 2.66 ratio. I have one sitting in my shed and it took me ages to figure out wtf it was.

    • @GrannasRacing
      @GrannasRacing  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yep, but i am 99% sure the falcon/Aussie tr6060 also has the issue with the input shaft not being right length for the 2jz bell. Basically gotta swap the input for a GM version. And it’s not super easy on these trans, gotta tear down the entire gearset

    I dropped the trans in my 2000 Mustang v6 to fix the clutch fork & throwout bearing & the parts that I got for it didn't fit. It looks like the trans is a T5 Tremec but a used one put in after market. I have NO CLUE how to read the serial number or anything on the trans to identify what car it came from. The throwout bearing seems to be just a little too small for the trans main shaft. I cant get the parts for it until I can identify what car the transmission went to to tell the parts guy

    • @CP110
      @CP110 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      well the T56 Magnum is rated for higher TQ, has way more aftermarket support, and a wide selection of gear ratios to match up to diff ratrios, however the cd009 was designed to fit in G's and 350's so it would probably be a relatively easy swap into ur car.

  • @Drunken_Hamster
    @Drunken_Hamster 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Several questions: Is there any reasonable dog-ring upgrade for any of these? Would you rec the long ratio for a street car? Which one do you pick for/how do you set up a Corvette-style transaxle in a custom application? I'm trying to decide between a 6-speed manual vs a ZF8-speed auto for my "dream" project car. Goal is to not have a ridiculous cruise RPM, still have a good holeshot, and no "the split between these gears is too long" like with my current trans (though that can also be attributed to not enough power and RPM since I'm stock RN, lol), and be enjoyable and daily-able.

      Mk3 uses regular magnum. Lines up near perfect, check out my website for the mk3 kit pictures www.grannasracing.com/products/mk3-supra-t56-magnum-swap-kit-2jz-mkiii-jza70
      Also the magnum-f does NOT have the mech speed output which the mk3 needs.

    Hey, Great video. I was hoping you could help me decide which 6 speed would work best with my application. I've got a 1970 Chevelle SS with coilover Suspension and a 454 Super t10 4 speed. My buddy has 6.2 out of a wrecked 2010 Escalade for sale. Which 6 speed manual would work best with that motor and be easiest to line up the shifter and linkage with my bucket seat floor console setup. Thanks for any help you can give me.

    Do you prefer the wide or close ratio?

    • @GrannasRacing
      @GrannasRacing  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I sell 99 close ratios to only 1 wide. The wide has bigger gaps between 1-4 gears which causes a bigger drop in rpm on shifts, which causes a turbo application to fall out of power more on shifts.

    • @GrannasRacing

      They rate them at 700 ft lbs at 4000lbs… So drop 25% of that 4000lbs and the rating goes up accordingly. And yes these trans are freakishly strong

    • @GrannasRacing

      The GTO T56 is the same as the Fbody/LS/Camaro/Firebird T56, the only difference is the shifter is slightly different, and the "lever cup" for the shift rail is a bit different. You would need a Magnum-F
