Our Prius gets 45-47 around town. It is certainly sufficient. I do like to drive hard, but give up in that area to save gas. In the long run, however, I doubt if the savings in efficiency will compensate for the eventual battery replacement cost.

you can get an lx trim for about 19000 new pretty much anywhere, where Toyota sells there bottom base prius at 23000, and that's hard to find, since dealers will always upgrade the vehicles to add on cost prior to putting them on the lot

This car is doing horrible in the US market
They are barely selling 2,000 units a month when the Prius is selling nearly 14,000.

@@bodiejarvis Correct. I have a 2010 insight with 130k miles and ive had zero issues. Get 45-50 mpg always. Sure its not fast and looks like a prius but who cares? Aside from the CRX its the best car ive owned.

guaranteed failure? really? never heard that about the new jettas, especially not the diesel models. and anyway, you see what shit this insight is inside and out. i know it's a honda, but a car built explicitly to be cheap (this, every car from dodge, kia rio, chevrolet aveo, perodua myvi, etc.) is no good, and that stands true in reliability.

they rave about its "excellent fuel economy" but the guage clearly said it was averaging 33 mpg?!?!??!? a normal diesel will do better than that! a lot better, say 15 mpg better! no need for all the environmental damage that goes into making an electric motor, and no need for the worst interior in the world to save cost. no need for the air con to turn off at a stop, whether you like it or not, no need for woeful performance...
this is better than a golf 2.0 tdi because.... ?!?!?!

that's because i think americans are finally waking up that hybrids are bad. especially the insight, the prius is somewhat decent... why buy the insight when you can have a jetta tdi that does better real-world mpg for $2,000 more?
