    Woot! Long time coming! Who's going to try jump cut editing now?

    • @SaraMakesArt
      @SaraMakesArt 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I don't layer my audio, but I have been splitting and deleting clips for a long time to take out my mistakes and pauses. I used to take out so much, though, that I cut off the ends of my words and even whole syllables sometimes so it made my videos very hard to follow, so I've had to learn to cut less. Speaking of making videos, I've found that I feel much more comfortable if I sit down to make one, not thinking "I'm making a video", but thinking "I'm sharing a tip with someone" or "I'm sharing information with someone". In short, I've learned to think about why I'm making the video instead of the fact that I'm making a video.

    • @focusonmeplay
      @focusonmeplay 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I tend to split and delete clips as well. However, sometimes I cut stuff out by accident.

      Jump cutting will help you not cut those words out completely! You should try the method to smooth it out.

    • @AmyTV

      use jump cut method to smooth it out. Don't cut off your words!

    I enjoyed this. I have done a small amount of video editing in the past. These days I am currently shopping for a refurb Mac book and other affordable pro audio and video gear . Do you have any advise, videos or links about this for building a small home studio?

    I always wondered how you created the pace. Thank you! Would it be appropriate to use a similar strategy for an audio only podcast?

    • @AmyTV
      @AmyTV  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think it can work but not too much. In a podcast you ONLY have audio to set the tone for the way you want people to hear. So every step you take with the audio matters for that reason.

    Nicely done Amy! The cuts don't line up sometimes because FCPX allows you to cut audio in subframes all the way down to 1/80th of an individual frame, but only between individual frames of video (the audio precision is there for precisely mixing, looping beats of a song, etc). If you cut the video first, the audio cut can snap to that video intra-frame cut above it :)

    Fantastic! I use jump cuts a lot, as I am far from a fluent speaker, so it is pretty much a necessity for me. I"m sure you realise you could put 6 ads in this video yet I only see a single preroll. What is your reasoning for that. Everyone is accepting of a preroll do you feel mid roll and end roll is too obnoxious or viewers are not yet normalised to seeing so many ads?

      I have no idea what you're talking about. There was one sponsor.

    Jump cuts are so annoying.
    I find it hard to get past one minute into a video because I lose focus. All I notice is the person jumping around.

    Amy, as a time optimization junkie, I can automate the removal of dead air with jump cuts, and even compress silence. Start a trial, run on your host computer, could save your countless hours of edit time a week. www.timebolt.io
