I just adore you, Amy! I'm SUCH a perfectionist and beat myself up when I see things I "should" be doing but then you always take the guilt off when you allow for that "slack" during the learning process! For example when you were talking about planning and had this uber organized book in today's vlog and I was thinking "geez, I'm not worthy! I'm SO unorganized and have SO far to come!" and while I'm thinking that I hear you say "you're probably thinking, 'if I'm just getting started, do I need to do all of this?' No. BUT at least you're thinking about planning..." Sigh of relief! Pressure off and now I can put that suggestion on my list of things to work towards. Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU, once again, for being YOU and being awesome, and sharing ALL of your wonderful expertise from years of getting it done! xoxo
As a working mom starting on youtube, planning is key. It's so hard to find the right balance in the beginning. Thanks a lot for sharing this tip. I am definitely going to use this advice.
Thank you for being so organized and sharing this. The visual layout truly helps. Content buckets or themes is perfect. Amy, you have truly giving me direction. I have saved this video to rewatch again. Seeing your notebook is phenomenal. Thank you!
LOVE this process!! I am so new but I know myself and if I don't plan it won't get done. I also love how you have 3 "buckets" you work with! I have a hard time thinking of only ONE area of video to do - I love the idea of rotating around a few instead. Thanks for sharing!!
I love that you do this with real, analog paper-and-pen. I find the tactile aspect helps my brain with certain kinds of organizing/planning tasks. I have been struggling with trying to map out podcast episodes in Google docs. I will try this technique of your with the color-coded stickies. I think it looks brilliant. Thank you, sister!
Amy this is really really good stuff here, seriously I don't know that I can adequately articulate just how powerful these five minutes are. Laying out the framework in this way, aligning it simply and quickly to brand identity / topic coverage, and mapping out execution calendar. . . fantastic. Probably going to start suggesting that my clients give this one a look. Keep up the great work.
Good idea with the sticky notes, I might try that. I have a hard time doing content planning in my bullet journal because i like to move things around.
yes it's quite good and visual. I have a master list of ideas in mine. I go back to it when I need inspiration. I write it in my weekly spreadsheet when I need to actually do them. I check off when done. :) I love having a master list where I can just dump all ideas as they come without sorting them out. (that's for later.)
Amy's on fire, every video!! The book was fantastic and the bucketing of categories is a brilliant way to break apart all of the ideas and schedule appropriately ! Keep at it Amy - crushin' it!
I've been binge watching your videos over the past couple weeks and this is it, this is the video that pushed me to order your book. I hope it gets here soon!
I really appreciate this perspective! So many encourage creators to zero in on a niche to maximize their growth but I am with you and have a few categories (healthy & happy living tips, finding joy in motherhood, connecting with God) that i hit on each week! I enjoy this so much more than solely focusing on one topic and I've found it's working well with my audience too and bringing new people to my channel. Also Tubebuddy has benefited me so much! Especially in figuring out the wording for my titles :)🙌🏻
Zero-ing in on a niche doesn't mean not having a set of themes to help contribute to it. Your niche should be the type of person who will watch and like all the themes within your expertise! Go girl!
I appreciate that perspective. :) 👍 I also think it's easier to get away with less variety if you aren't uploading super frequently because who would want to watch 3 of the same type of video in one week from the same person?!? Not meee at least! ;) Appreciate you and your videos💕
I agree. Very helpful. I've been doing maybe too much on presentation skills and using the buckets will help me hit some topics I've been away from for a while like communication skills for leaders and conversation skills. I think viewers like the variety.
I´m def purchasing a bullet journal to organize my TH-cam schedule and thoughts. Thank you for the graphics in the video they made it very helpful and easier to understand your process.
I’m definitely going to utilize your calendar technique to map out videos. I have been doing a video a day for the month of December (not vlogs). I wish I would have seen this video before starting. Oh well! You can’t go back. Just learn and move on. Great video! Definitely earned a new subscriber. Enjoyed 🙌🏻
This is so helpful! I sometimes do too many get to know me vlogs and not enough practical ones due to a lack of planning, this is way more structured and organized
Hi there, I love this! I've been making whisper videos since 2010 but I uploaded very irregularly. I'm currently working on stepping up my game, I never took TH-cam that seriously, but somehow that's changed. However, I'm quite chaotic so I never had a posting schedule. Posting three times a week sounds about good to me and thanks to you I'm, as we speak, writing down in a notebook what types of videos I want to make and when I should upload them. Seriously, I'm getting more enthusiastic about TH-cam with every video of you I watch! Thank you! :)
This was very helpful! I recently started monthly sketching out.. i liked the sticky note idea .. i will implement this bc when things shift I can easily make the switch.. I agree with another comment that other advice was to niche but I like "buckets" within the theme.. it is actually a conversation I had with my therapist when I was struggling with the whole "niche" idea and she was basically like you talk about "balance" within money and career and travel .. thanks for sharing this video!!
Thanks for giving me ideas of how to plan out my videos. I do find that I get abit overwhelmed with what I want to do. But if I plan it that will make life much easier
Great video as always! It's like you read my mind this week. I REALLY struggled with time management on my channel this week, and this was a much-needed kick in the butt! Thanks!
What an awesome video. Lots of vids out there about making them but I hadn't yet seen a thought out schedule regarding planning. Nice job, thanks for the help!!
I love this! I do planning each week rather than monthly though. As long as your planning ahead, you will be set up for success 😊 great video as always Amy
Amy you are so organized. I loved this video, It made me realize that I need to be more organized in my video planning. I plan to shoot a video tomorrow...and the script is still not finished. I need to stop floundering.Thank you Amy
Thank you for making this video! I really need to get a calendar together and make some consistency. I am literally only a few videos in but it sounds like consistency (even at the beginning) is key!
I'm just getting interested in blogging/vlogging. Your book was the first one to pop up on Amazon so I ordered it and it arrived today! Came here to find you and watch as I read! I'm excited to get to know you through your book and the peek into your life you share on YT...already, I can see your personality is approachable and you are very charismatic! Thank You for what you do!
This was so helpful for me! I've been running around like a mad man trying to create a ton of travel vlogs. I am going to take a step back and try to create less but be a bit more organized.
I am new to your channel and can't wait to binge on your videos! You have such amazing tips and I am excited to start doing some of these things with my channel!
You are just so adorable, I love listening and watching your videos! Thank you for writing your book , it helped me get over my fear of hitting upload :) it is so well written, and it sounds like you!
Amy - Thanks, again, for the very helpful, practical step-by-step advice for planning one's content calendar. Besides coming up with a catchy video title, how important is story? What storytelling suggestions do you have for us? Thanks!
Absolutely LOVE this! Such a good way to plan a mix of ideas and keep organised which is something i've needed to look into when planning content for my TH-cam channel! Cant wait to get started :D
New to this TH-cam thing! A Full 5 videos in, soooo happy I discovered you. Learning to Film, Edit, Plan, TubeBuddy Etc! Thank you for all of your help, you rock girl!!! 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻❤️❤️❤️
So 1 month planning, topics from current events related to field or viewer questions or ideas. Have 3 or more? buckets of topics, see how planned topic fits in a bucket- spread them out over the month to avoid boredom from all quarters!
Published on my bday (last year 😅). TH-cam’s algorithm is kicking out tons of throwback videos lately, but I hadn’t discovered you yet, so totally binging. The best advice, TY! 👏🏻🙌🏻
Love this! Scheduling in to do this tonight after the little one goes to bed. Reminds me of @ramitsethi's personal finance system with the envelopes (your buckets). Much love sista!
Great Tips. I have been thinking a lot about how/when to upload certain videos. I'm not sure if I should make a niche channel or make different playlists for everything I love. I think with this approach I can have the best of both worlds. Thanks for your advice!
Hey Amy! I’ve been watching your videos for a couple of years and I can’t remember you gave any tips on what to use to automate your post? Thanks for being you!
Really great suggestions! Really love the calendar with the stickies. On another note, do you know when the book that I won will be shipped out? Thanks for the very helpful video.
I have a feeling that I have too many buckets AKA topics, what would you advice? Put them in a regular rotation or scratch some for some time and then replace an existing bucket with a new one? I had an ambition to do daily videos but then I was neglecting my blog so I settled to cca 3 videos a week.
As always, thanks for sharing! Just coming off #SSSVEDA, not sure what my next plans are xD After last Aug's VEDA, I had all sorts of plans, and ended up hibernating for the winter lol You book is helpful though. We'll see how it goes ;)
And as always, it's great to see you. Working on upping the video game ASAP for my biz. Really loved this plan you have. Very helpful. Hope all is well in your world! =)

As a working mom starting on youtube, planning is key. It's so hard to find the right balance in the beginning. Thanks a lot for sharing this tip. I am definitely going to use this advice.
I loved this video. The #1 thing I've been trying to learn this year. Content planning makes things so much easier. Thank you
Thank you for being so organized and sharing this. The visual layout truly helps. Content buckets or themes is perfect. Amy, you have truly giving me direction. I have saved this video to rewatch again. Seeing your notebook is phenomenal. Thank you!

The buckets and color coordination to the calendar is an awesome tip!
Thank you!

Is "Vlog like a Boss" available on audible? Wanted to renew my subscription and that would be a good first title to get :)
Coming soon!
Perfect - that will enlighten quite a few rides to work :)
That is great news! I prefer to listen when it comes to certain topics and books.
