    This renovated home is better than new . It doesn't have the "fancy" look but the junk quality of the new factory homes that cost a fortune. I like that the floors are the same throughout it looks so clean and crisp. This is the way they should be built plain and simple.

      My sister had me put in her flooring the same way. I at first thought it was strange, but then I realized what filth must be on our shows. I couldn’t have imagine having vinyl flooring throughout the whole house with no carpet. But she absolutely loves it. She sanitizes everything and easily with a wet dust mop. She doesn’t allow shoes in her house. She has a large rug for her baby to crawl on and I have a large mat by the door I can stand on when I visit temporarily. If I am going to move through the house I must shed my shoes. I told her several times how weird it seemed to me to have hard floors throughout. She kept reminding me how gross carpet is. I remember loving carpet in my bathroom, but she is right, it’s very disgusting when you think about it. My next remodel will be like you said, Chrisp and clean, no carpet, just like in this video.

    This is my first time on your video so I don’t know the backstory, but I can tell you did a great job and I think most people are waking up and going to a smaller homes and trailers. If you can find somebody clean delivered by you that’s the biggest thing it’s not having a big house it’s being safe and people are learning they don’t wanna give up 60% of their income just to live in a big house.

  • @jonathanking6546
    @jonathanking6546 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

    Brother, I noticed the gap between the trim and the wall. You have white baseboards so can take white caulking and fill all the cracks, then wipe down the seams immediately with a damp rag or sponge to get any caulk off the walls. This will also work around the plug and switch plates. Also make the screws on the plate all face the same directions. Someone told me this years ago and I did it on a home I remodeled. Before I put the caulk in the gaps, people were telling me it looked nice, but after caulking they told me it looked so much better and several people said it looked cleaner. All said they never seen the gaps the first time they looked. They did but couldn’t identify what was changed and different before and after. Today they make caulk in stainless steel color, so my up coming remodel will not have gaps between the stainless steel parts like towel holders and door handles. I also took baby food jars and kept touch up paint. I would touch up every imperfections and ding caused by moving in, every time I cleaned. It was the most beautiful home I had ever seen at the time.
    Just so you know, yours is one of the best remodels I have ever seen. The video inspires me to make a TH-cam video of my remodel. I have some videos, and lots of photos before and what I have done so far, but things seem so much more expensive today, so it’s not going fast.
    I buy new stuff from thrift stores and have been doing so for years. My double wide was probably a fentanyl house and I bought it from the owner for back taxes and a truck and travel trailer. She almost lost it for back taxes and I bought it days before the auction. Thanks for the video.

    • @frugallandlord6974
      @frugallandlord6974  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Yeah I am aware about the gap, if I’m repainted the home I will caulk then tape and paint but on this home I just painted the walls and trim separately and nailed the trim on after I painted, I understand what you are saying with white caulk I just have never thought about caulking walls without painting over the caulk, maybe it would look ok 🤔. Anyway thank you so much for the kindly worded tips, I definitely appreciate that.

    I own a 1995 Fleetwood double wide--in excellent condition, mind you-and the man that came and installed our walk in shower (courtesy of the Veterans Administration) told me that I could not install tile in our bathrooms or on any of the walls because they wouldn't support the tile and the base (?). I noted when we had to have some other repair work done that the drywall on our walls is very thin--less than half an inch! Did you have to put in 'real' drywall--the 3/4 inch stuff in order to install that tile in the bathroom? I really want tile around the top and sides of our shower, but not sure how to go about it.

    • @frugallandlord6974

      @frugallandlord6974 My youngest daughter pays for her trailer in October, and she will pull her trailer onto the land in front of my place. I will continue to use my house as storage. My place has holes in the ceiling all over, and some areas of the floor are weak (a hole under my couch). The shape it's in no one would rent it or buy it. The place I'm in now was built in 2018, 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms. She bought all new furniture that suited her taste. It's a nice to live, but not my home.

      @@jeanbaker2087 so sad to hear. I understand having a home that is yours. I lost my first real home. I have lived in several places before and since but still miss my home. I am getting older and have made homes for others. I am now remodeling a double wide to sell, and will use the profits to build my final home. Don’t give up and don’t hang on to the old homestead. Let it go and build your new home. It’s not easy or cheap these days, but I believe it is still possible. I have dreams of a home powered completely by solar. Completely paid for and no utilities. I will overpay my taxes by several years, and keep overpaying as long as I can afford it, so I can’t ever lose it. I don’t feel like we can ever really own anything in America.

Fewer and fewer people now days have a kitchen table much less want a dinning room and they don't want a HUGE kitchen either, they want more living space because enteaining their friends in the home is becoming a thing again. I would have moved the kitchen to the wall in the front and made more living space, I might have even bumped out the wall of the bedroom a foot or so to make the small bedroom a little bigger, by moving the kitchen to the front wall and building a Kitchen Island and making the living area bigger you wouldn't even notice that foot by moving the wall and making the bedroom bigger.
