  • We literally just pulled the doors off and spray painted it, it cost me $300 to own this magnificent machine. I challenge anyone who owns a side by side to a showdown of mediocre proportions.

I had a 2006 Spectra once. It was gutless, but very reliable. It was my first KIA and I was hesitant. I've been buying them ever since. There is a secret turbo button, the AC off button.

My 1998 Chevy Lumina had a automatic secret turbo as when you put in too much throttle it would shut down the A/C and blow hot air into your face until you were done demanding power then kick back on.

Awesome! I never had a go-kart, 4-wheeler, or motorcycle but I did have a ‘79 Chevy Malibu four door! It was a family hand me down that my brother had hit a few deer with. It sat by the barn and I finally talked Dad into soldering the rad holes and letting me drive it in the pasture. I learned how to power brake, do donuts, and parallel park between trees. I came really close to rolling it once. It was a great time!

I would say this thing was almost in better shape than my $1,000 2000 Nissan Dentra I've been beating on for 5 years, but the Dentra has a 5 speed, working AC, and it's not a damn Kia / Hyundai POS. Awesome little project, should be a fun beater for years with a yearly oil change and a few mods to keep from deleting the oil and trans pan. Just be sure to wear seatbelts in that thing, lest ye may be thrown out. Ejecto seato, and all that.
Keep up the great work, hope JD has fun with this little pile of junk, they aren't much count as real cars anyway.

I had a 1990 Pontiac LeMans 2 door hatchback that I got for $200 back in high school that we turned into a go kart. Had so much fun. Got it stuck on a hill at my buddies parents property. It was wedged between two trees on a 45-deg slope. I hear its still there some 24 years later. I really miss the bargain corner classifieds in the Sunday paper. Was promptly replaced with a $300 1992 Olds Cutlass Calais. It was 80% rust. And loved to randomly strand you.

That's a cool idea. I would get rid of the glass, rear bumper, headlights, cut those trunk hinges off and maybe put some snow tires on it all around for better grip in the woods. My dad did something like this with a big old '50's car back when I was about 2 or 3 years old, around 1967 or '68 I'd guess. We had a huge sand pit behind our house and some muddy spots back there at times so he had a lot of fun with that thing. I can't wait to see what else you guys do with this thing!

You basically built a Swedish folkrace car. We used to build a couple very much like this each year in my youth. And go race them on the fields after harvest, it's called Stubbrace. Great, cheap fun! And you learn weird things too, like how the stations wagons always last the longest. Still don't know exactly why? But that was always the case for us. 😂
A tip; If you weld a "T" shaped tube between the front seat backrests going from the driveshaft tunnel to the roof, and out over the drivers and passengers heads, it will be safer if it should turn over.
ATV tires are also great, and cheap. They're also made for lighter vehicles, which this now is. And if you just put them on the fronts, with some hillbilly slicks (worn tires) on the back, you'll slide all over!
    These things are great fun!
