Using a handle would probably make your painting process more comfortable and enjoyable. You can either buy a dedicated painting handle like the Hobby Holder from Game Envy, or you can just use some sticky tack and an old pill bottle or anything else that you can stick your mini on top of and grip.
You’re totally right!! I can’t believe I didn’t use them in my actual video, but for some reason only in my thumbnail. I have 2 Citadel handles and they are truly awesome in making it easier to paint altogether. I’ll definitely check out the Hobby Holder though. I concur, handles make life much easier. After many years of many Citadel handles I purchased the Red grass games handle which is supposed to be one of the best.

I’ll be covering this Starter Set for the next couple of months with a complete breakdown of how to build each map and prep for each chapter along with all the minis featured in the adventure. I got the stormwreck isle story pack the campaign case terrain and the ''DM handbook'' for christmas as a gift from the girlfriend after that i bought the
'''player handbook'' spellbooks, items and artifact, monstercard and portfolio''s anything to help me keep on track and make it easy for the players (also new players.).yust ordered the 2d mini's you revieuwed. and 3 others 2d mini's yust to give something to build with 😁honestly i didnt know they excisted.
Will be getting the 3d miniatures very soon.

Just wait until you get into painting 3D minis! I only did it so I would have the minis needed for the original Starter Set (Lost Mine of Phandelver) 2 years ago. I didn’t expect to fall in love with painting minis as I was only doing it out of necessity. Now I’m trying to find an excuse to paint minis whenever I can 😀 So happy for ya man, glad to hear you’re feelin pumped cause I totally relate!!

Curious as to why you primed all the miniatures. All Wizkids unpainted minis are already primed and ready to paint.
I totally understand! When I was learning about painting minis 2 years ago, many channels had recommended priming them for yourself. I didn’t at first, but then when I did prime them…it just seems to tack on better (at least The Army Painter paint sets didn’t take as well, I have not used Vallejo’s Prismatic Paint sets yet). When I apply a really thin amount paint onto the unpainted mini, it doesn’t catch the same way (seems to roll off more than when I apply primer to it). Also, the grey primer is darker than how the mini comes out of the box and I believe that the colours you apply on the mini are impacted by this. Ideally you would prime your entire mini with the base colour you’ll be using for that specific mini. I don’t have any other coloured primers yet, but will probably invest in the rattle cans later (hands down the best way to apply primer from what I’ve read). I just purchased the Vallejo paint sets though, so I’ll be doing a comparison on these to see if there’s any difference to The Army Painter (apparently Vallejo is much better). Sorry for the novel of a reply, but I hope that answers your question and thanks for watching ✌🏻
the wizkids minis come preprimed so you can skip the primer step if you want to save time, paint and not obscure fine detail
I could be overthinking it, but my first few months I didn’t apply primer and found that the paint would chip after a month (or not tack on properly after my first coat). It could be the actual paint I’m using, which is The Army Painter D&D set. The new D&D Prismatic Paint Sets are made by Vallejo, and I hear they are MUCH better. Ever since I’ve diluted and applied the primer it’s been pretty good to me so far. But yes, I definitely don’t want to over do it to keep the detail! I’ll be posting a video as soon as I get the new paint set. Thanks for watching ✌🏻😄
@@darliniansdungeon I saw the vallejo D&D paint set at my FLGS today. I was super excited up on until I found that they were selling 8 mL bottles for $4 CAD each, which is about what you can buy 17 mL bottles of the same Vallejo paints without the D&D branding for.
@@Jimalcoatl Oh wow, I didn’t know that!! I already pre-ordered my Basic and Intermediate Paint Sets, so they should be here any day now. Good to know we’re paying double for the license lol 😂 Once I get my hands on the new sets I’ll be sure to check out Vallejo’s other paints now that I know they’re cheaper than expected. Much appreciated for the heads up!
@@darliniansdungeon My LGS may have just been overpriced, but it was pretty shocking. Vallejo paints are really good though and if you've already ordered them, I'm sure you'll enjoy them.
