blak238 if you can swing an extra couple grand, I’d recommend the Si. Got a 2019 coupe in June and have been loving it. Plus for 2020 they added new rims, the LED’s from the Type R, and Honda Sensing
I’m saving up to get myself a 2020 si myself. I’d recommend it if you’re looking for something more sportier. The best of luck to you I hope you get the car you want!
I have had my civic si for a year now and the car still puts a smile on my face every time i drive it. dont always listen to the numbers of this car, it doesnt have the most HP or torque but its such a joy to drive. its hard to explain but the car just makes you feel connected to it and handles like a dream. i have driven 500 plus HP cars and honestly would pick this every time.... ya its not the fastest in a straight line but rowing through the gears and just being able to use all the power it has makes it such a great little car.
I'm a detailer at a Toyota dealership and I worked on one of these yesterday. I did play around with it a bit because it was a slow day and I was honestly really impressed with this car. What impressed me the most is I adjusted the driver seat to where I was most comfortable than I jumped in the back and I fit comfortably behind myself. (I'm 6'3") So this car will definitely fit taller people with ease.
You're half right. 6'2 here and the legroom is definitely there. The headroom, not so much in the coupe form. Head pressed firmly against the roof, and if you slouch down you lose the legroom.
The trunk of the coupe is, indeed, impressive. I'm a musician, and this car works just fine. I am able to fit 3 guitars in the boot, plus a small amp! Seriously!
Consistently reliable and sporty fast economical car. I had two different friends that bought a brand new Dodge Dart and Mazda mazda3 respectively. Everyday that they sat in the Honda Civic they were jealous. Much better MPG, faster stronger engines, very spacious interiors, durable machines. No nonsense with rear view mirrors literally falling off, no door handles that broke apart. Just because you bought a cheaper car doesn’t mean that you should suffer. I respect that. The one thing I will have to zonk is that if you get the base model, the seat cloth material isn’t as soft as the older generation’s carpet like material. Yes their new fabric is easier to clean/maintain and much more durable but to nitpick, it is less soft. With a 0-60 in the 7 second range, it is much faster than a lot of the weaker competition, even with a CVT. Really speaks to how well designed their CVT’s and Engines are compared to the troubled Nissan/Chevy/Toyota/Subaru competition. However, I firmly believe that Honda is missing an opportunity by not offering a Civic Si with optional automatic transmission. You look at the sales of a Volkswagon Gti and Elantra Sport, and overwhelmingly you see folks out there who want a faster small car but are incapable of driving manual transmission. Right now when people want a slightly faster Honda Civic with leather seats, they don’t look at the Acura ILX, they see a Hyundai Elantra Sport with 10 year warranty. Time will tell if this becomes important as small cars across the globe seem to be falling out of fashion.
Thanks for the review. Showed my daughter this video and she liked it so much that we actually just bought one today. And that’s the exact color (Aegean Blue) and model we got. Her very first car so pretty big day. Great car for the price in my opinion. Happy New Year Guys. Now back to my wife having a nervous breakdown.
I like how the Coupe has the Tailight that connects from one side threw the hood and all the way to the next headlight. Wish the Sedan had this feature, makes the car look more sportier.
Boom!!!!! 300k Subs my dude!!!!! Level up!!!! Watching some of your older videos and this one here is gold!!! Congratulations on reaching this epic milestone!!!! Cheers!!!
Great review as always. Honda dropped the manual transmission on the LX coupe in the US (still available in Canada) so the Sport is the least expensive manual transmission coupe. For those that don't want a turbo car and like to wind it out with VTEC like old school Civics the Sport is plenty fun and a performance bargain.
It was Joe's reviews that finally convinced me to buy a 2020 Honda Civic Coupe EX 1.5T. With 16,000 miles on the odo, I really love the handling. The interior is a quality all the way. The styling is far and away the coolest of all the Civics by a mile. My mpgs from Day#1 is 38.1. Even measuring consumed gas and calculating consumption based on mileage, my number is 38mpg. There have been NO ISSUES. However, I have 2 gripes. I live in the desolate, desert southwest. And this car has no altimeter or compass. These should be standard on the base car! I hate those crappy dash or visor units at AutoZone.
UPDATE: My Coupe is at 46k miles and has been 100% flawless. Our Sport Hatch had its A/C crap out (nothing new there), but Honda fixed it and extended the warranty. When I'm not allowed to drive "gas only", I'll pull this engine out and drop a hybrid in ($10,000). These were excellent value purchases. MPG on the Coupe has averaged 38mpg. Not bad.
HDMI Exhaust... I hit the floor on that one Joe. Nice job, I think it is a great value commuter car. But if I had to get one, it would be a manual for sure. I just don't care for the way the CVT operates.
I'll take the Sedan. I believe 2020 is basically a carryover, but hopefully will have the same new wheels as the 2020 Sport Hatchback. The present wheels, especially gunmetal, instead of bright silver from the Si are nice, but the new wheels are even nicer. The coupe is great to have for those that want a 2 door. I agree with the turn signals in the mirrors, but it's to keep costs down to have all the other more important goodies. I also agree with the side window trim should be blacked out. Other than that, I can't be picky for the price point. I just wish it had a CD player, and/or at least an auxiliary audio input jack. Alpine has that aftermarket digital processor, amp, and subwoofer that bolts right in to improve the sounds. And storage pockets on the back of the front sedan seats. Even on the Sport Sedan, the front and rear lower corner panels are about the same. And I think on the 2020 Sport Hatchback, I think the update is pretty nice. Again, I have said many times in answer of the other comments, like you mentioned during the driver portion of your video, this car was not meant to be an Si. Or Sport Hatchback turbo. You can't get all this at the price point on a new Corolla SE. The XSE is about the same price as the Sport Touring Hatchback, but the latter has so much more with potential performance mods, fir those that want it, even the regular Sport Hatchback, which like I mention now has very little compromise now that it has all the goodies from the Sport Sedan/Coupe. I would rather have an automatic, but if I get this, instead of an HRV Sport for more utility. I will try to get the 6 Speed, for better performance, reliability, durability, and longevity. You can't beat this Civic Sport Hatchback Sedan/Coupe for the price and other things mentioned at this trim level. In this call of vehicle, Toyota is a great alternative overall, but their base engine is seriously lacking. The higher output engine is only available in the SE and XSE, and the XSE has no 6 speed in the sedan, while the Civic Sport Sedan/Coupe, Hatchback, and now, Touring Hatchback have the 6 speed available.
@@RaitisRides I just wish I knew the details for the changes for the 2020 Civic Sport Sedan and HR-V Sport. The 2.0L would be a nice upgrade for the latter. They already have the 2020 Si and Sport Hatchback on the website, but the Honda website seems real glitchy. But the Civic Sport Sedan/Coupe is only $21-22K. I think they dropped the price a bit a few months ago.
I know you took a look at the 2020 Kia Forte GT at a car show some time back but I think they should be on dealer lots pretty soon if not now. Would love to see a review of them and your opinion of them on the road!
Unless you live in a cold climate. The mixing of oil and fuel in the cylinder sleeves can wreak long term damage. Honda has extended the warranty on many 1.5t Honda Civics and CRV's and claims to have modified the software. Only time will tell. Living in the warm Southwest, I'm not too concerned.

If you utilize the paddle shifters in sport mode. You actually get a faster 0-60. As the statistics are based on running it in automatic. I wish you had commented on the fact you can use the paddleshifters while in normal drive mode. Which allows you the same control as the manual but without the added rpm from sport mode. Helps a lot on slippery roads like snow. On that note. If you plan to drive this in the winter. Be prepared to buy new wheels. There are next to no snows tires for the wheel dimensions that come with this car. And the ones that do exist are expensive! You're better off buying blanks and getting a more narrow winter tire on there. Because the all season and winter's on the stock rim are just wide enough to create displacement gliding on heavy snow (central NY driver here with one white knuckle winter with this car under my belt).
One downside to the coupe, there's no way you're getting a child seat in the back of that car. At least not without some difficulty. Great review, and you're right that the chrome on the side should be blacked out. Engine seems a bit starved, but for daily driving, it's within the acceptable range. Certainly better than a Corolla. Speaking of the engine, which one for the Civic do you find buzzier? the 1.5 turbo or the 2.0?
My mother told me to buy a new car instead of having my old car custom wrapped. Now I have mixed emotions and some second thoughts if I really wanna get an upgrade or just get my old 2014 Honda Civic coupe custom wrapped. 😓

I really appreciate your reviews and detailed breakdown of the new and used cars. I was fortunate enough to purchase a new 2019 Honda Civic Sport Sedan in June. My Civic is called Modern Steal in color. I told my salesman at Thousand Oaks Honda, California that I wanted a Civic with a automatic transmission so that my wife could drive the car as well. I also told him that the car needed to have a little swag to it. For me the car offers a lot of bang for the buck. Since I just enjoyed my 65th birthday in August so my driving style has really calmed down a lot so the fact that car has a CVT transmission was no big deal because I have no intention of heading to the track to put the car through the paces trying to push it to the limit. Honda could have left off the paddle shift paddles. That's just my opinion. What I like most about Civic Sport is that It has the race look even though I know that it can't really hold up to the SI model or the Type-R model.
I live in Thousand Oaks also! I have a modern steel metallic sport sedan as well with the 6 speed manual transmission. Maybe I’ll see ya around one day 👍🏻🙂
i can't believe they dumped the 1.5T engine for this sport version. It should be number 1 on the list for 'sport' items. I'm so glad i got the 2018 ex-t over this one.
All Civics are slow, even the type R is slow AF in a straight line. People buy civics for affordable, reliable daily drivers. The 2.0 naturally aspirated port injected engine is bulletproof reliable, and will last WAY longer than the 1.5 turbo direct injection engine. Smart buyers get the 2.0 engine as it will last hundreds of thousands of miles . If you buy a Civic for “performance” the Type R is the one to get, it’s a phenomenal handling car for a FWD in the corners. But it’s still painfully slow in a straight line.
@@bretthansen8166 i assume the 2.slo will last longer than the turbo 1.5 but honda engines historically live longer than their cars (at least in this climate) so im nit worried. Sure wed all love the type R engine in our civics but beside the obscene price it also comes with a hideously riced out body style.
@ Dave Anderson I agree completely. The markup pricing on the Type R civics is ridiculous. Hard to believe people are paying $10k over MSRP for theirs. I also agree completely on the Type R’s styling. 👍🏻
With how you can customize the color theme on the infotainment screen in the center, can you do the same with the instrument cluster, in case a driver thinks that red is a bit garish for gauges on a commuter car?
I've always wanted an Si with an automatic. Most real world driving is sitting in traffic and construction etc. Computers shift faster than humans. My friend has a Hellcat with an automatic. The new GT 500 also has an automatic. No sunroof on this Honda?
Why does a 2.0l Honda only have 158 hp? I would expect at least 180 to as high as 200. I would buy this car if it had a bit more power because I am not a fan of the 1.5 Turbo in the SI. Friend of mine own a few SI's now and he said he finds the 1.5 boring compared to the older naturally aspirated SI and I agree.
I had 2015 civic my car payment was in the low 300 .Anyway in an accident not my fau.t but my car is totaled 😢.I was looking forward to no car payment. I have to get a new car I love to get another civic just not so sure I can get it in the low 300 again .I got a great deal plus I had trade in on my last civic

I've been shopping these (6mt of course). MSRP of 23,300 was a great price. Carmax currently has a used one for over 28k!!!! F that.
Lol
One downside to the coupe, there's no way you're getting a child seat in the back of that car. At least not without some difficulty.
Great review, and you're right that the chrome on the side should be blacked out. Engine seems a bit starved, but for daily driving, it's within the acceptable range. Certainly better than a Corolla. Speaking of the engine, which one for the Civic do you find buzzier? the 1.5 turbo or the 2.0?
That is a very good point Herman!
Their blue paint rivals Mazda’s blue paint
AGREED!
My mother told me to buy a new car instead of having my old car custom wrapped.
Now I have mixed emotions and some second thoughts if I really wanna get an upgrade or just get my old 2014 Honda Civic coupe custom wrapped. 😓
Second, that’s a review man you are the best joe I hope one day meet you man when I buy my trackhawk I’m working hard for that sub , and you are the man for the review, o man sorry for my English I’m 🇨🇺 cuban
Thanks man I love the trackhawk more than the challenger o charger any way my wife doesn’t like when I go more than 70 miles 😖😂 but she don’t think the Jeep is a wild beast ajajaja
Maybe I’ll see ya around one day 👍🏻🙂
Good job! Please review the 2020 Civic Hatchback sport or touring, thanks
Peter Scanlon it’s already a done deal!

Thanks, I must have missed that one.
It's okay Peter! I really appreciate your support!
i can't believe they dumped the 1.5T engine for this sport version.
@ Dave Anderson
I agree completely.
Thanks for sharing your input and perspective! I really appreciate you watching!
Based on your reviews I like the SI coupe and the hatchback sport or touring, sedan versions.
Does this version includes cameras on side mirrors?
Yes
2020 Civic Si review coming soon? 🤔
Of course! They are not at dealerships yet.
I gotta zonk em for doing 45 in a 25mph zone
this is the exact same look of the 2016?
Gd reveiw its the ultimate budget car
Thanks Jay you are so very right!
Someone said don’t get a sport but seem like they not bad at all
I've always wanted an Si with an automatic. Most real world driving is sitting in traffic and construction etc. Computers shift faster than humans. My friend has a Hellcat with an automatic. The new GT 500 also has an automatic. No sunroof on this Honda?
There is a sunroof on every Civic Si. Just learn how to drive stick Greg. It's way more fun!
When are the 2020 Accords coming out?
They should be very soon!
I'm thinking should I get one or the arteon
Why does a 2.0l Honda only have 158 hp? I would expect at least 180 to as high as 200. I would buy this car if it had a bit more power because I am not a fan of the 1.5 Turbo in the SI. Friend of mine own a few SI's now and he said he finds the 1.5 boring compared to the older naturally aspirated SI and I agree.
It's naturally aspirated and they want to keep a performance gap between the trims.
With a Ktune and some mods (downpipe, intake, exhaust) you can get to 180.
I don't have the attention span for manual. CVT is the only thing I can drive safely.
Attention span???? The F?
@porfiriato84 manual driving takes a portion of attention away from the wheel to the gear shift and extra pedal.
I have one of these in Aegean Blue metallic....2.0L engine....very nice :)
Coupe?
@@justincui yes...
Can you review Audi A5 Cabriolet??
I will try to track one down for you.
Thank you for sharing your input and perspective! I really appreciate you watching!
Why does it sound so loud ?? I have the same one but mine doesn’t sound like that. Is the muffler removed ?
That is a great question!
Nope that’s just the way the CVT transmission is very loud. It doesn’t really have gears so it imitates them. I have a 2018 Honda Civic coupe. And I really don’t care for the CVT either but great gas mileage, great handling, I live in West Virginia so the bumps are like driving on the moon. But as he said you don’t even notice it. Great review. 👍🏻
Can someone tell me if there are seated seats. Many say there is. Many say there isnt
So if i slap an aftermarket turbo kit on this later down the road.. do i then have a type R without the aggressive body?
kenji86 let me know if you find out lol. I’m also curious
Bump
You'll be lacking the LSD, suspension, and brakes part of the performance. but yes! I'm sure it'd be a lot of fun! Probably a lot of tire spin though.
wow! this car is what i was looking for!!!! i feel inlove!! and ill save money 23k for this beautiful car!
Where can I get rubber floor mats for this car
at your local Honda dealership, online parts websites, Amazon, eBay, etc.
When will you review the kia forte gt
AfricanAvenger as soon as I can get my hands on one.👍🏻

Is that the regular Honda Civic coupe or si
It's a sport.

AGREED!
How do you feel about the spoiler on the honda civic si 2019? Zonk or no Zonk ?🤔 lol
I like it!
This or a BRZ?
What’s different bettween coupe vs sports 2 door
this car in the video is a 2 door coupe. A coupe is a car or SUV with a sloping roofline.
Nothing. Coupe is two car. Sedan is 4 door.
I got the sport coupe edition so my girl can drive it too
Cvt?
Flat I think so
Joe Raiti from Raiti's Rides
That is me! :-)
Why would I choose this version when I would choose a Hatchback Sport tbh. I'm more of a hatchback guy
Sport coupe has the reliable and nice sounding 2.0NA. The hatchback, however, has the infamous turbo engine.
I own a Sport Hatchback (CVT unfortunately) and I love it, but I also want to add a 6MT coupe. So to answer your question, just get both!! :-D
is this an ivtec engine?
Yes made by Earth dreams as a call it
I’m ready for the 2020 Si. I think I made up my mind.
Eric Sabol as soon as it hits Tampa Honda I am all over it!
Y baila baila baila ponle música pa' que esto no pare💃
