You are so right… I’ve only been to Vienna a couple of times but I want to spend more time there, would love to meet people like her and enjoy some great conversations and food at Disco Volante. (I love that place and that neighborhood.)
This reminds me about what Arnold Schwarzenegger said about growing after the war that "Austria was a country of broken men". I hope this young woman and people like her find encouraging communities that's full of life.

She must have lived in an English speaking country for a bit or partly grown up speaking it. It's very fluent and with almost no Austrian accent. It's kind of soft American. And sure, there's a lot of English in Austria (well, Vienna), especially if you're young, but not quite that level.
Good thing about knowing German is to voice out your point of view which is why the German speaking culture is the ground of very organized time, why she mentioned about something in the past have an impact in the present.
Dunno about why the distrust in post-war Austria, but now worldwide it’s politicians aided by media, especially but not exclusively social media, driving divisions… ‘divide and conquer’.
She seems like such a sweet, beautiful and well-grounded soul that anyone would love to get to know more about and explore shared experiences with. The world needs more people like her!
wow, it's touching what she is saying. She is so reflective and smart. I wish I knew more poeple like her. WWII was just so unbelievable terrible. It still affects my family so much. The trauma is passed along over all the generations and it hit me so hard. Thankfully we have therapists and can do more about it than previuous generations.
Well, i was very surprised seeing this interview. I have to agree with her statement or view. Vienna is my hometown too and i feel isolated or lets say excluded. We are not really friendly open people and when i say that i know that i am guilty too. Yes, many are dead inside, especially outside in the streets or in subway or other places. Everybody has his track through the city and is not willing or prepared to open up. People life in their bubbles or lets say in viennese Grätzl. You have your friends, family, people you know from somewhere and thats it. If you do not have that it can be very tough. But maybe i am wrong and not society is the reason for me living almost in solitude. Maybe i am not good in connecting to people. Vienna is the city of Freud, Adler, Frankl, so there has to be a foundation of madness.
@@0711floflo Ok, thats interesting. I guess, with the big amount of quantity, in terms of possible connections, especially through internet and travelling came the lack of quantity or depth.
Interesting, both what you said and the woman in the vid. My Dad was from Vienna and Salzburg, Austria. During the war. They left, lived in Shanghai for some time, and then to the USA, in the 1950's. I thought it was just my Dad, as he was very closed off, feeling of isolation, immense anger and rage. Couldn't relate to him
@@johnmarengo3988 I understand, my grandparents moved into a house in vienna mid of the 1950ies. Before the war it was owned by a jewish family, some of them could flee, some not. Some could escape to Shanghai. I see the first steps of the Holocaust as a betrayal. By the government, by friends and neighbours. I think this trauma can last for many decades and can influence whole societies. I did a little research on this family from my childhood home, it´s interesting but also sad. My parents generation experienced violence through their parents. So i guess we inherit some forms of violence.
@@leokorn1629 yes i guess ? But actually i think it has nothing to do with war like the woman in the video. I've met people who are from family that are here for generations, and they say the same. They only are friends from school since young and hobbies, or whatever context where people see each other very often. Once studies are done, and we work, people don't make friends with other people even in hobbies, I experience it myself. Everyone just come and go as soon as classes are done. At school, we see people all the time all day, in adult life, we work all day and hobbies people apparently stay hobbies people that's sad. I've tried several times to be open and speak to people but they are really close minded when it comes to be friend with strangers outside their circle that already existed. For people who lost friends, or got betrayal, abandoned or whatever reasons and got no one reliable anymore, it's very hard to approach others. I have been meeting new people the past decades. But no one last because they are either judgemental, or there was once a girl i met in a bar, she said I need to "take a test" with one of her friend and talking to her and that "if I pass, she will present me to her other friends gang". Like what the hell, are we supposed to pass test to get to know people? Lol. And this girl i met I was meeting someone else and she interrupted it and I found her funny that's why i asked we exchange number to hang out. Turns out she's not that nice, she also judged my life easily since she hasn't experienced the bad things i had. Anyway people are always like this I just cut it off after several times of seeing disrespectful words from her. Not everyone is like this but I met bunch of people who were nice, turning out weird and close minded. If you don't make the effort to make the first move, no one will. I've always made the first contact and sometimes it's tiring. Lately I've again made first contact with 2 people, a girl in my dance class , who i never talked to during whole year (because last year I made an effort but there was a girl who used me as a bridge to talk to other people I was talking to, she also was weird and not assuming her choices I got annoyed she was disrespectful and not honnest), there was a show for the class in last June, I had the opportunity to speak to her so I did. We had fun, I just talk for getting to know her because I was like "funny we've never talked all year so let's talk now while we wait". I , again, decided to make the first move and search her on Facebook, send a message to say it was fun and if she wants we can hang out. Turned out it was mutual so we met twice and until now it's been going good. Making the first move all the time is always tiring in the sense that, why people don't make the first move ever in my situation ? Because simply they have already their friends usually and "dont feel the need to grow their friends circle". Even on reddit of my country, the people who ask for friends also say the exact same "they want to meet new people because they are bored or just want to grow their circle they already have, otherwise they just don't want to grow it" We don't need thousands of friends for sure, but they are people like me who were hit by abandonment, betrayal, lies and decided to cut off with the bad people. It's better to be alone than with bad people who mistreat us. What I thought was a pro to make the first move is that I get to "choose" who I hang out with. It's my decision and then I just see if it goes on well or not. Another guy i met during afternoon of guitar lesson, he's younger than me a few years but he seems nice, though there are some traits that bother me a little, like being late for meeting up and saying nothing by text, or not saying sorry for being so late (more than 40 minutes sometimes). not everyone is perfect of course. But i just hope being like this is not a habit, because myself I say sorry when I'm late and send message saying I'm on my way. That's just politeness. These 2 people I hang out recently, it's only beginning. Both already have their friends. I just took the chance to speak to them more than in the context of hobby and turns out we could get along. I'll see in the next months haha I think it's cultural here. But also the way society works. Everyone is tired because of work, people just wanna go home after hobbies ,which I understand , but people really litterally run to exit when time's o clock. The Belgian are comfortable in their own life, circle of friends. They usually don't see the need to meet new people if they already have their own friends from childhood or teenager or university high school. What i state is true unfortunately because redditors and other forums confirm the struggle to make new friends with Belgian. They feel rejection, loneliness and such. Btw I may ask the girl I see if she's ever realized why herself never talked to anyone after lessons. It seems like people talk before class but not everyone can come early especially when taking the bus so I always arrive at time. Meeting people is a thing, I've met people in different situations, even bar like i said 😂 or apps (which i never wanna try again. Bad experience. Fake pictures, filters, old pics and they are dirty in real life and weirdos). Building connection is the hardest step. It's rare I've met people who want to connect more than "outside a beer or a drink". When they want to have fun, they are here, but when you need a real friend and you suffer, they disappear. It's a matter of "luck". I still haven't given up, but now I'm focusing more on myself and my well-being ,so I set my boundaries and don't allow any disrespect, bad treatment ever again ( I try) And don't forget, not everyone is this way but no wonder if most of them are 😂here I'm myself Belgian. But my open-minded may come from my own culture where my parents aren't from here, because of war unfortunately. Im asian and was born here. So I like people who are open minded, respectful and such. Living racism all the time even as an adult, in the street, even yesterday while i was in a shop, is another hardship I live with. Fortunately not everyone is racist, but I did bump into racists and im sensitive to it. I just hope one day im indifferent to it. Technologies made communication more superficial too. Meeting people too. But like I said ,at least in my own country, I don't wanna use apps anymore. It never feels genuine and people always search for interest for them. I prefer meeting people the old way, face to face. It's just that we need to break walls and make the first move ,contact,in a world where rare people do, like me. I hope you understand what I'm saying😂 Hopefully we meet the RIGHT PEOPLE. We are millions in Belgium. Billions in the world. I'm sure I haven't met the right people yet 🤣though it takes lots of time haha But meanwhile I'm focusing on my happiness

What you feel is infatuation. Love requires knowing a person. I am quite sure that, when people say that they "fell in love at first sight", their infatuation blended into love over time without them noticing.
@@Hexanitrobenzene Thank you for being so intuitive that you can interpret my emotions from afar. Actually, I was referring to her insightful responses. Good try though 😏

"Love" is probably the most overused word in the world. I would reserve this word for people you have known closely for a long time and would go out of your way to support them in trouble. There is a great book which discusses love philosophically, called "The Art of Loving" by Erich Fromm.

This is why women like her want nothing to do with the average man. Creeps like you who say they ant to marry her without even meeting the girl based on how she acts with a camera in her face
Incredible interview. It's hard to have such a perspective when so deeply embedded in a society, it shows a strong spirit of enquiry and questioning, particularly in someone so young. I wish her the very best where ever she is in the world.
She’s absolutely on point. I’m part Austrian. My grandma is full Austrian and barely spoke a word to me as I got older. To be fair,I rarely saw her when I was growing up, but still, I could be in the same room as her and she’d ignore me, the entire time she was there (visiting my father). My father one time told me what she saw in the war, so it gave me a higher understanding. So much rigitity too. I’ve had to heal it out of myself.
What if your grandma was autistic and didn't know it. Maybe she was like that to most people? If it was just you that she was so rudely silent to, then that's another story.
Are all you repliers 'slow'? She just said, 'I’ve had to heal it out of myself'. How does that statement raise a suspicion that her gramma was autistic? One way or another, I don't want to see what they saw.
Cool video, My relationship of 5 years ended a month ago. The love of my life decided to leave me, I really love her so much I can’t stop thinking about her, I’ve tried my very best to get her back in my life, but to no avail, I’m frustrated, I don’t see my life with anyone else. I’ve done my best to get rid of the thoughts of her, but I can’t, I don’t know why I’m saying this here, I really miss her and just can’t stop thinking about her.
its difficult to let go of someone you love, i was in a similar situation, my relationship of 12 years ended, but i couldnt just let him go i did all i could to get him back, i had to seek the help of a spiritual counselor who helped me bring him back
Beautiful conversation 🙏 I think she is echoing the idea that it is people, relationships and shared experiences that ultimately define our lives, much more so than material things… I’m so glad that she has realized this at such a young age!👍🙏🙏🙏
I could watch these kinds of interviews for hours. A deep look into the human spirit is here. This woman is a philosopher, with courage to look at What Is, deep insight, curiosity to observe, and fearless honesty. I wish the best in the world for her. This was a fascinating interview! To think this was not in her native language is inspiring. How do you interview someone on the street so they open and share? That's a brilliant skill! What a cool intelligent dude you are. Please do more not only of more Viennese but of all peoples everywhere. Tourists rarely get to know the citizens where they visit and these people where tourists like me visit are teachers... even depressed people can be full of insight. We will rarely get to know any of the citizens when traveling unless we are very fortunate. This kind of video makes the world a better place. ❤️Subscribed.❤👏👏🌹🥰🙏🏼Bravo!
What an impressive and wise young lady! Once we know the causes we can begin the process of transformation, and we can only start from ourselves. Please continue to ‘lit the candle’ and pass the candle on in your own way, in time it will be really bright. Best wishes to Austria, it’s such a beautiful country ❤
I agree with most of what you said, but simply knowing the causes of a problem is not enough, transformation can only happen if we accept the problem and genuinely want to resolve it. I think the problem for most western countries is people are lost, they are so divided, so entrenched in their own reality, they don't accept that they are the problem. What most people want is for other people, the ones who have differing opinions, to change. Governments, however subtle, encourage this division, it's easier to control a divided people than a nation that is united in it's goals.
I live half an hour away of Vienna and it makes me humble that there are other people around who make a change out of the stuck old thinking the parents and grandparents generation has to a happy and healthy thinking. Thank you for your words and the video. I am grateful. 😊
She picked up on it being a psychological war without even living in the era. Her self-awareness and intellectual articulation of thoughts is incredible. She needs to get out of Vienna... in Australia, we are not dead inside.
Not yet maybe. Is it one of the states in, or Australia that has appointed a minister for changing men's behaviour? Is it Australia where feminists had boys in school apologizing for things men who died long ago did? If you think that kind of mentality didn't create the Europe that exists today you need to study recent European history. You can't have generations of people being made to feel guilty for the sins of their fathers/grandfathers and it not affect people for generations to come. Australia seems to be on the brink of waging warfare on men, if you don't think that will divide the genders even more, and result in a nation of depressed lonely people who are dead inside, you are failing to see the bigger picture.
@@jaidee9570 - I agree that those things can have an impact on you… if you lean into them, watch the news, be consumed. Most people are too busy surfing, doing river runs, taking adventures into the outback, fishing, building successful companies in a thriving economy, hanging in gym communities and even cool church communities (not that it’s a very religious country they still do very much exist), it’s got great weather, fun people, just don’t get caught up in the negativity of life bro.
@@jaidee9570 What you see in the news or read on the net and the experience in your own personal life here in Australia can be two very different things. That weird wokeness you read about doesn't exist in most people's lives here and that minister for men's behavior in the state of Victoria will not be able to do a thing.
That is such a good explanation for what happened to people in world war two and how that got passed on to the next generation. There was a mind control that played with peoples minds and brought them out of alignement with themselves and their soul. I love her vision and action to heal that.
This lady is stunningly gorgeous and has humility that makes her sweeter than honey. Her sense of understanding is a reality that is touchable. Amazing woman.
She's wonderful. Exactly the kind of person I've been been looking for. It's really rare to find someone capable of introspection and expressing their thoughts clearly and calmly. Just trying to have a conversation with most women near my age feels impossible when their only interests are celebrity gossip, "fashion" and trashy TV shows. The older I get the more it feels like all the good ones are gone.
Wow, she is so on point with not only the history that has so damaged her own country, but what is happening to communities all around the world at this very moment. I'd love to sit with her and talk about history, philosophy, and current events.
I clicked this mostly out of curiosity in the choice of thumbnail/title and to see how well it worked. This young woman who most would feel should never need to be lonely based solely on appearances. Pretty and vibrant, with a lovely smile and yet her tired eyes suggest she has a lot more going on. This appearance makes her look even more approachable because you might feel like you want to give her a hug so it’s even more strange that she might feel markedly lonely. Ultimately, I don’t;’t think she actually explained the “The surprising reason for why [she] feels lonely”. She gave a removed intellectualisation of her analysis of society and history but her own story is probably too personal. The fact she is cleaning floor could mean a number of things (apart from just that it’s the regular day where she cleans the floor). She may be coming out of a difficult time and the cleaning is part of her process for reordering her surrounds to try and get back on track. This interview possibly came along at the right time and might have been a good boost for her to have this conversation. She may also just have tired eyes all the time, even when everything is going well, like science TH-camr Steve Mould.
@@dandylion2837 Yes and eventually these videos lead to videos about cleaning floors so she finally pulled herself away from the screen to go and get some cleaning supplies.
I think I’m in love! She’s so insightful and grounded. Being this honest about one’s life and struggles is testament to one’s character. And her curiosity to understand existence is another example of her soulfulness. I may not have any plans to travel to Austria, but I hope one our paths cross one day.
Line up, boys! This is a remarkable woman, brilliant beyond her years. This is a scholar, best friend, companion wife, and mother extraordinaire, and she's clearly fine wine. She will get better and better each year!
Absolutely the type of woman I would really open up to. The best are often really hidden gems in society. Most of the time the most painful part about dating is the superficiality and fakeness...and smartphones. She's right about just being more present, real, unapologetically authentic.
Vienna is one of the cities with the most social helps and social institutions. It's obviously not a mediterranean city, but from a rational point of view, it's a very social and therefore communitarian city. But what she expects is it to be "visually" available too, she expects a form of community that is a mediterranean aesthetic, but it's just an aesthetic in the end. Some places have that, but they don't have the services our city offers us. So I'd prefer that. By the way, the "coldest", least collectivist and most individualist countries interestingly also happen to be the most social ones. It's mostly North- and Northwestern Europe and North America, but Austria also falls into this category I'd say. Sometimes, the reality doesn't match the aesthetics that we expect. But we shouldn't be superficial. Aesthetics are just a facade. What's behind it is decisive.
Aptly put. She seems like a person who just has a more reserved demeanour which would probably affect how she sees people and the world. I doubt she would feel much different in other cities. People in central/northern Europe definitely need more time to warm up to people and may not be as overtly social as other cultures but they value community and genuine connections just as much if not more.

What a gem you have found randomly on the street: a young, imaginative woman with so much insight and wisdom. It is truly nice to hear such a rich conversationalist, but then this is what I experienced of Vienna - the cultural level is so sophisticated and refined. All over the world, there are way too many people glued to social media, taking selfies, and generally obsessed with themselves, never once pondering about the world around them.
She brings up WWII, but I kind of feel that way since the end of Covid. Post-covid here in the East Coast USA, I feel changed people to being even more insular than they were before.
@meraj205 Yeah I understand what he meant, but what he meant was very ignorant. It’s assuming that an American accent is the “neutral” way of speaking and everything else is “an accent”.
@@stanislasdarjeelingSo you watched a 3 minute video with loads of positive philosophical ideas and opinions, and the one thing you have to say has got to be sth negative? I wish you more happiness in the future. As for the accent, I come from a German speaking country, and usually you can tell a german speaker apart pretty easily by their accent. Not this young lady though, it takes a lot of very thorough listening to pick up the small nuances. I myself was told many times that my english is "accent-free" by native speakers and I always took it as nothing but a compliment 🤷🏻
It's really not that bizarre if you consider the casual and geographical context. Sure, you wouldn't write it in a formal essay. But clearly on the streets of Vienna, speaking casually, it means 'you don't have a strong Austrian accent'. It's rather bizarre of you to not allow this context to forgive the imprecision.
Yeah what would you rather him add on the extra words to indicate she doesn’t have a strong Austrian accent in Austria? Or would you mind just pulling that stick out of your ass?
The opinion of one girl does not reflect the entire reality of living in a city. This is no fault to her but she seems to have a rather timid and reserved demeanour and outlook which probably makes her perceive things a lot differently than they really are.

WWII was just so unbelievable terrible. It still affects my family so much. The trauma is passed along over all the generations and it hit me so hard. Thankfully we have therapists and can do more about it than previuous generations.
No one knows or talks about the trauma of Bangladeshi Hindu refugees and their children. I'm realizing now how much it affected me and my family too.
Beautiful, intelligent, emotionally mature, and articulate. And, you just found her walking on the street with a mop in hand!
Its actually people with attributes like she has that I can imagine going on the street with a mop or a vacuum cleaner.
It's the fucking same in Belgium unfortunately, Wallonia
Even on reddit of my country, the people who ask for friends also say the exact same "they want to meet new people because they are bored or just want to grow their circle they already have, otherwise they just don't want to grow it"
We don't need thousands of friends for sure, but they are people like me who were hit by abandonment, betrayal, lies and decided to cut off with the bad people.
I'll see in the next months haha
I think it's cultural here.
I still haven't given up, but now I'm focusing more on myself and my well-being ,so I set my boundaries and don't allow any disrespect, bad treatment ever again ( I try)
And don't forget, not everyone is this way but no wonder if most of them are 😂here I'm myself Belgian.
I hope you understand what I'm saying😂
Hopefully we meet the RIGHT PEOPLE. We are millions in Belgium. Billions in the world. I'm sure I haven't met the right people yet 🤣though it takes lots of time haha
But meanwhile I'm focusing on my happiness

What an incredible lady, intelligent and thoughtful

What's behind it is decisive.
what do you mean by mediterranean aesthetic?

I think he meant that she didn't speak English with a typical Austrian accent.
So much for Vienna being named world’s most liveable city.
It is most because of the social services and features. It js very stressful anyway. Salzburg is better to live
It's up there though. Safe, clean, lots of features and services, people don't bother or annoy you. It's peaceful
The opinion of one girl does not reflect the entire reality of living in a city. This is no fault to her but she seems to have a rather timid and reserved demeanour and outlook which probably makes her perceive things a lot differently than they really are.
