It's real. Having my grandmother give me my dad's magic box is one of the most surreal moments of my life. She took me to her basement and pulled it from the top shelf of a closet. She had kept it with her all those years until that moment. I didn't know it even existed. I never once brought this up during the whole Fool Us production, but her last words were, 'There is magic in the world.' I talk about it on @chriscanfieldmagic (instagram/tik)
Penn has talked about it on his podcast, how the point of the show isn’t to actually fool them. That’s just the hook to sell it to TV. The real point is just to give a platform to magicians who would never get that large an audience. There have been acts on the show who did tricks that Penn and/or Teller literally taught to them. It isn’t about fooling anyone. It’s about putting on a great show.
@@The_Jantofyes. But at the same time, they have so much history and respect for the art form, they love being fooled as much as they love not being fooled yet enjoying the performance. They challenge others but in the most respectful way
This performance is beautiful, because even if you can guess that the cards are being manipulated as they're dropped, there is still a lot of room for being impressed by the technique in which the cards are manipulated, and even if you figured out exactly how the cards are being manipulated (single-handedly, no less), you will still be impressed by the story being laid out by that performance and how poetic it is!

Absolutely astounding performance, such control. But definitely recognized the inspiration for your routine with colors being separate and coming together again in your narrative. It can't be done any slower haha
My grandpa lost his arm when he was only about 10 years old after breaking it and having it go gangrenous due to a too tight cast.
