      About boosting a dead battery: NEVER, EVER put the negative cable clip on the battery as you did. Discharged batteries emit hydrogen. A little spark will ignite it instantly. Disaster. You clip the negative as far as possible from the battery, on frame or engine parts. And you install the cables on the dead car FIRST then on the healthy car battery, engine non-running, you could damage/fry your alternator electronics.
      Hey, I know, I live in Canada. Gets frigging cold up here sometimes. Done a lot of boosting in my 45 driving years

    Most of us know a lot of what he tells us. But he is a good regular guy and tells it like it is. Sometimes I just watch his videos because they pop up and he can remind me of different things that I forget it’s about time to do things. Like today I’m gonna get the things I need to do my trans. Fluid. And at same time check the hoses and steel lines. Cause if the hoses or lines are getting really rotted or rusted change them now before they get so bad you can’t get the fittings loose. This guy is good for keeping your vehicles in good running condition. Thanks Scotty

    Hey Scotty, I'm so so sorry but I just have to prove you wrong on the first one about jump starting. When I went to school I was told never to jump start a car by connecting both of the ground (negative) terminals. Instead connect both positive terminals first and one ground terminal to the other battery and the other on a ground source (header,block,frame...etc) away from the battery. this prevents a possible hydrochloric explosion provided from the arc when connecting the ground cable to the terminal. Most vehicles nowadays have a labeled ground source post in the engine bay.

    You should have mentioned that the easiest way to determine which is the positive and negative battery terminal, is the positive one is always bigger.
    So ft the markings are hidden, just stand directly over the battery and look down and it's easy to see that the positive terminal is always a lot bigger than the negative :-)

    HAHAHA! I was working at Moss Motors Dodge in Riverside, CA back in the late 90's. So a customer brings in his 96 RAM pickup with the 5.2L Magnum engine in because of a rough running engine. It had 42,000 miles on it. So we went out to look at the truck, pulled the oil cap off while it was running, and it blew all kinds of smoke and oil droplets out. So we pulled it into the service bay and put it up on the rack. When we looked underneath it, it still had the original oil filter from the factory. lol... The guy asked us if we would replace his engine under warranty. lol Man. I could go on all day about some of these people.

    I change the oil and filter in my 1986 Peugeot 505 GTi every five thousand kilometres.

    I buy quite a few cars and 4wd s in Australia. Most are mid 90s cars which handle the conditions here well.
    Before doing anything, I always do a synthetic oil change and filter. Air and fuel filters. Brake fluid, check rotors and pads and hoses. I flush the cooling system and usually replace the thermostat and radiator and heater hoses. I do the belts, swap old hose clips for new ones and then do an oil change (filter for automatic) on the gearbox, transfer and diffs.
    Every service I run an injector cleaner through both fuel tanks and do spark plugs once a year.
    I've had over 27 cars and I'm 28 years old and buy doing this, not one has ever broken down

    • @OFFICIAL_VIDEO_AWARDS
      @OFFICIAL_VIDEO_AWARDS 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Eric Schnauz I'm not even going to bother explaining why synthetic is better.
      I don't know if your trolling or if your really as passionate about coming into a TH-cam comment to abuse someone about the choice of oil they use in the cars they build as a business.
      The 4WDs we build have to do thousands of kms across highways, dirt, river crossings and cop a load of abuse. We're building a 105 series Landcruiser petrol with 330000kms as a tourer right now, it had lower than average oil pressure, by switching to a 15w-60 synthetic we have restored oil pressure and ensured it can tackle the coming summer when it drives from Perth across the desert to Brisbane.
      I sincerely thank you for your expert opinion.

    3-4k miles between oil changes is the biggest scam ever perpetrated on car owners. If you drive an old beater in the city with lots of stop and go, you might, might, need to change it at 4-5k. My 2012 Honda just had its first oil change at 8500 miles with 15% oil life remaining. Newer cars have sensors or computers to tell you when to change it. Follow it. We could save 100 million gallons of oil if we did the oil changes when we are supposed to instead of when the sellers of oil tell us to.
