it is really nice to know various bits and pieces of tech tips scuba, but I miss good old vintage scuba videos. Everything recent cuba is widely available, but vintage no longer. You're real history Alec. We would like to learn more about vintage scuba diving
Glad you like them. They will return likely in mid 2022. I'm still sorting through what is let to make more the next time Kevin and I meet for a shooting session at my ranch. The longer the wait, the more vintage they become! Sorry bad joke.
My wife asked me "are you watching your scuba grandpa again?".

got handles like that on my tubes, and you dont need to take the valve off to get it on you can actually just push it on its no problem oh and you had it uppside down :D
Good eye and yes I realized that after as it folds down. But I'm a one take guy so you can tell everyone at the next dive club meeting you caught me out. Of course I will just blame Kevin as that's his job, right?

I have been clearing fish tug propellers in Port Stanley since 1967
The new monofilament netting is invisible in the water
I have had to ditch the tank to cut it free
Can you do a Christmas socking stuffer video? Always enjoy seeing some of the knick knacks
I planned to but with Covid, the number of new, shiny toys has been reduced this year in stores. Hoping to amaze you next year with great Santa stocking stuffers.
I'm always looking for an easier way to do things. I like the idea. So if it stays on the tank, is there any interference with the regulator or hoses?
Not that I know of. The handle folds down against the tank so hoses won't snag. Thanks for watching and all your support Rick. Stay safe.
Hi Alec. 2 things- One is I don't see any real advantage of this handle vs carrying the cylinder as normal. Secondly, I do have tank carrying device that is nice (cannot remember if from shop or online) but it is a two velcro straps with a handle in the middle, and you carry the tank horizontal (like luggage) vs vertical. Easy to put on/off in seconds. Less bulky in luggage too.
Well my friend, when you pass 70, anything helps to carry heavy tanks unless you get your buddy to do it. As you mention, there are many tank carry devices around, this is just one that works and anyone can install. My preference is to get Kevin to carry my gear but he's getting old too!
Alec got any tips for moving & carrying around my steel twins 12 litres. They are very heavy. 🤿👍🏽
For sure, get yourself a Kevin, he hauls my tanks around! Gives him a purpose in life, ha! There are good 2 wheel dollies or 4 wheel wagons to haul all your gear around. It's on my ideas list for a future video.
I got a heavy duty fold up wagon on Amazon has the fat tires won’t get bogged down in sand and gravel. It folds small enough to go crossways in trunk and still have plenty of room for tanks and other stuff
I need your advise. You are a pro and I have learned a lot about my gear by watching your channel. My question is what advise do you have for divers taking full responsibility for their gear that has been serviced by a professional? I just had my and my wife's regs and BCDs rebuilt costing $588 Canadian at our local dive shop. I am a retired army logistics officer so believe in checking my gear so I took it to the pool tonight to make sure everything was good. It didn't take long to see that my reg had the hose installed on the wrong side of main stage 2. I suspect it is an easy fix for the dive shop tech to move the hose to the right side where it belongs but it has left me nervous as to what else is wrong. Will my wife of 33 years have a failure at depth? Just bothering me that a major mistake was made at a modern and reputable dive shop. What do you tell people about double checking the work they have had done to make sure they have safe equipment?
I can certainly appreciate your concern Rod.
I do think it's a good idea to visually check a regulator that has been serviced for any possible issues before using it. I also suggest that a brand new regulator or a recently serviced one be tested in a pool or shallow water before heading out on a dive.
In your case, here's my recommendation:
Step 1: take the reg back to the dive store, explain what you discovered without being confrontational & ask them to please check it over again. They should be happy to do so, at no charge, and they should thank you for your understanding.
Step 2 (assuming Step 1 does not return satisfaction): Take it to a different dive store. Again, without being confrontational, explain the situation and ask them to do a quick assessment of the reg, its performance and whether they think the service was done properly. They will ask but I suggest that you do NOT mention the name of the 1st dive store.
Step 3 (assuming you are still concerned): email the manufacturer with all of the details. Tell them your concerns and simply ask for their advice. The email might sound like this: "I have been pleased with your regulator & I really don't want to change but I need to be reassured that all is OK".
That should do it.
Hopefully your Local Dive Store will do everything possible to set things right.

@@AlecPeirceScuba_SeaHunter thanks so much! I have returned it and they did correct the fault at no charge. I’ll test it in the pool after Christmas. There is only one dive shop in the city so have to trust it as much as we can
Whatever happened with streamlining and minimalism while diving? The Hogarthian theory?
I see the potential of getting stuff like kelp, rope and fishing net trapped in this handle while diving.
To make it worse, the handle would be behind the diver while diving, hard to reach.
It is removable and in the environments you mention it could be a problem even though it folds down. For the majority of rec divers, not so bad.
Thanks for nice video. I have had a plastic hanle like yous now over 15 years. It is, indeed, very handy. However,. you had it upside down. If you install ot the right way you could push the handle against the tan ehen you don't carry the tank.

They are a potentialen risk to get stuck. It would be saver to install It on the other side. So it will be between the tank and the bcd.
When installed properly, it sits flat against the tank. Anyone with weight pouched on the tank strap has more risk of snags. Take care Sander.
They also a strap carrier, probably another old idea but it really does makes moving them easier.
There are lots of good products to carry and store tanks. This one is very universal and removable. Best solution, get your buddy to carry them.

Small pony bottles are available everywhere. I don't sell anything but my own vintage gear. Check your local dive shop for tanks and regs for them.
I have one on my 120CU Ft steel tank
The bigger the tank and this will save you hand!
