John. John. JOHN!!! My husband has LOVED your baked ziti recipe from years ago so much that he wants me to make it EVERY WEEK! seeing this recipe made me giggle but I know it’ll be wonderful. Thank you for keeping my family happily fed. Lol
Dear John! I am from Portugal and I watch every single video you post. This recipe was my dinner last night. It is really delicious!!! Keep up the good work!
This is also great with mushrooms and/or black olives added. I make this (and variations) frequently, learned at my mother's knee. She always called it Uninspired Casserole. My kids grew up on it, and now I feed to to The Spousal Unit fairly often.
I haven't made baked rigatoni in quite awhile. I think I will soon. I love your stove and all your copper. I have many copper pieces. I actually love your kitchen and whole house. You folks live in a beautiful place
Looks yumm 😋. I am going to make this next week . Please teach us more weeknight dinners …please , please . Love Mediterranean cuisine too. Thank you 🙏🏻
Hi John. My hubby and I made the baked Rigatoni recipe tonight, and it was SO good! We love watching your channel! You have brought us into the world of TH-cam cooking and baking! I love you and your recipes are wonderful! I shared the channel with my hubby, and he said he could see your passion for baking/cooking, and he loves that! Thank you for the great recipes and bringing us together with a fun thing to do together as a couple, in our late 50’s! You’re the best! 😊
Best rigatoni ever!! Thank you for sharing this easy, delicious dinner recipe, my company ate it all, no left overs. The sounds of approval and enjoyment were the best praise I could receive and I wanted to share it all with you, a wonderful chief. 😉👍
We always have a large family vacation with all the grandchildren (5) and their parents. I make a version of this recipe every summer. I will usually make several large casseroles ahead so I'm not stuck in the kitchen!! And, the leftovers make great lunches!
I only need to get some ground pork sausage, and I'll be making this soon. I will be able to make it and freeze some of it for another meal. Always a plus as I live alone, and don't always feel like cooking for just myself. Thanks John, for another hearty meal recipe!
My 19 year old college son, who has his own apartment with a nice big kitchen and who is actually a very good trained cook with a sophisticated international palate, likes the recipes from your easy cookbook which he uses when he has a houseful of hungry homesick friends over to cook together a hearty meal of everyone's favorite comfort food.
Love your videos :) You are way more talented than me - if I used that small of a pan to brown my meat and veggies half of it would end up on the stove with each stir :) I have to use a big pan to not make a mess. Food looked delicious!!
I like the idea of adding a protein to pasta especially to reduce the carb profile of the dish. I love sweet sausage, but I also love the flavor grass feed, grass finished beef on its own, so I may or may not use the sausage. I like those serving platters on the ledge.
Yum! I can taste and smell it all the way to Canada lol. Thank you for sharing with us John, I always enjoy watching and listening!! Thank you and have a great weekend❤️ ❤️ Tina ❤️
Thanks for this. If you are watching your salt intake because of health or medical reasons, you don't really have to add salt to your water in a baked dish like this one. The flavors of the meat, onions, garlic, sauce etc will contain enough salt & flavor to the pasta while baking that you'll never miss the salted water, & have cut the amount of sodium you take in. Mangia!
John, I like how many of your recipes include ingredients that I often have in my kitchen or are easy to find at the grocery store. I also like how they are recipes my whole family likes. Thank you. Keep them coming. 😃🩷
And here I thought I invented rigatoni casserole back in the 70’s!! I make my own marinara, which is my Nona Amelia’s recipe and which I make lots of frequently so I have it on hand. My family loves it and I started making this casserole when my kids would be yearning for my lasagna but I might be too tired or lazy (I was a full time RN with 5 kids and a hubby to care for) to make the time consuming lasagna! Your way is almost identical as mine with the exception of the marinara!! And you made me hungry for it!! ❤
Is that a new cookbook in the corner? I love your range, looks clean and all the copper pots, except that ship lap, must be hard to keep the steam and odors off. Love your preppy kitchen cookbook, thanks again ❤!
John! For the upcoming valentines day please do diy valentines day chocolates! I've been looking at different recipes but none of them have the creativity and reliability you have!
Just made this for the fam! Absolutely delish. Gonna freeze some and add some homeade sauce as I think it may need a bit given the freeze and then reheat...moving on to Blueberry muffins 'cause everything you make is delish!!!😊
Watching this video I noticed that those pans were getting "broke in", I've been watching your videos so long and can remember when they were shiny and new lol. I love your videos and look forward to getting the new cookbook to add to my collection (have your other one too!!) Please keep making these dishes
I love baked rigatoni! I like to mix the cheese into the pasta and meat sauce before baking though adding a bit more cheese on top. Also…for your audience….making your own pasta sauce is cheap and easy I large can of tomato purée (much cheaper than a jar of already made sauce) About 1 tbsp each of Basil, oregano, thyme, onion powder, garlic powder About 1/3 cup of tomato paste About 1/2 cup of water A splash of lemon juice Brown meat in just a bit of all of the seasonings then add the rest of the ingredients. Cook until thick and creamy It’s simple and delicious and no sugar needed. It makes a tangy sauce you can use with any pasta dish. Lasagna, spaghetti, pizza…. Enjoy!
Quick question, can be labelled as a silly one but need to clear my doubt so i'm asking. Is there an alternative to make this if a person doesn't own an oven(mechanical). I own an electric oven so can it be made in it & will it have the same taste...? Thank you to every one & stay blessed
You could make this in a toaster oven as far as I’m concerned. Since it’s being baked, it should not make a difference whether you bake it in an electrical oven or a natural gas oven. Gas ranges are very useful for precision cooking delicate ingredients on the stovetop, but this is a hearty baked dish.

i usually add ricotta cheese with an egg, basil and oregano in place of meat and its also delious
You should wait until your water comes to a boil before you add the salt. Salt water boils at a lower temperature than unsalted water.
But adding the salt would let it boil faster wouldn't it
@@tempest17703 It would come to a "boil" faster, but the temp is not a full boil temperature so lower. Better to boil at full temp.

Thanks, John. Appreciate your easy to follow instructions.
Your sauce looks amazing! This is a winner for me. Rigatoni is my favorite pasta and it's going to be on my dinner table tomorrow. ♥️🤗

I love all versions of pasta but rigatoni is my favorite
to keep ground turkey from getting "rubbery", add some baking soda. it comes out very tender and tasty
Wow. What a nice tip. How much baking soda per pound of ground turkey?
I am pregnant currently and this looks SO GOOD
Feed that baby his rigatoni!
@@cecilyerkerhahahahaa😂😂 I’m loving Italian and Taco Bell currently while pregnant lol
