Hi I'm applying to Canadian vet schools this round! Very exciting. I really like your channel!! So far I've only got ~500 shadowing hours. I was going to get more hours this summer and had already scheduled with some clinics but because of COVID I can't really do any shadowing at this point. What would you recommend me to do? thank u! :D
Thank you for the comment! Unfortunately, it's not uncommon that students got cancelled on work or vet shadowing due to COVID. Since you already have 500 hours of shadowing experience, it may be a good idea to talk to the admission office and see what you are short on. If you are applying to AVC, I would also recommend taking this time to study for the GRE.
Hi Yino! Thanks for your informative video, I enjoy watching it a lot. Do you think biological background is a must for people who want to apply to vet school? I am an undergrad student who is majoring in BBA (nothing related to vet lol), do you think it's still possible for me to apply for pre-vet education?
Yes you absolutely can! I didn't have a scientific background in high school and I kinda switched to biology in my sophomore year. Pre-vet programs are usually not very strict on admission, but they don't guarantee entry into vet schools either... You do need strong grades in the vet school prerequisites (mostly sciences) when you actually apply.

Hi, I love your channel! Thanks for the good reference information! I am currently studying undergrad at UofT. I always want to get into the vet school in Canada especially OVC, but I am an international student. Do you have recommendations for international student to get into vet school? I was wondering for the application do they check final two years or only the last year of your GPA. Is it necessary to apply to grad school before vet school? Thank you! So sorry I got a lot of questions.
Hi, thank you! You do not need to go to grad school before vet school. As for your application, they will look at your average of the required courses and your latest ten electives. Your cGPA and sGPA are not relevant. I am working on getting together a video for international students. It's going slow but it is coming:)
Hi, could I know did you ask for a recommondation letter from your volunteered places?
Just ask them directly. Vets know that you need reference letters for your application. The vet I shadowed was super nice and he actually offered to write me one before I even brought it up.

Hi! I have a few questions. If I'm still a highschool student (i'm in junior year atm) and I want to volunteer to work at my local pet hospital, do you think that it would be permitted? If not, do you have any other recommendations for highschool students to get some veterinary experience or just have some of those activities related? I think it would look great in a portfolio but unfortunately during this time, it's very hard to find anything. ;w;
Yes you can definitely volunteer at vet clinics (hospitals tend to have higher standards but you can try it by all means!). Volunteering at animal shelters, wildlife rescue are also great options! Good luck!
