    Hello! Thank you so much for this video c: I would get lost when trying to search up what I needed to prepare for vet school and I am so glad that you popped up in my recommended! I am currently a 2nd year Zoology student and I am worried about whether or not Animal Clinics would even hire me to work/volunteer with them since I have no experience. What was your experience like when you were first looking for a place to volunteer? How did you manage school workload + working/volunteering? And is there a limit to how many times you can apply to vet school?

    So pretty ❤️ My goal is to eventually apply for vet school, for the animal experience portion how far back can you go with it? My first job was working on a farm (petting/amusement type farm, but with a wide variety of farm animals) and I also volunteered at a horse ranch just a little before that. But that was over 5 years ago now and will be even longer when I'm actually ready to apply for OVC. Would I still be able to use that? I do have more recent experiences I can use (I've been at my local wildlife center for over two years and still with them/just starting at my local Humane Society) but it would be nice to be able to put all of it even though it was so long ago 😅

      Thank you and awesome job on the animal experience part💕 My school (AVC) asked specifically for experiences within 5 years preceding your year of application. I recommend talking to your school admission office and see if you can add these experiences somewhere. Chances are they will add to the diversity of your experience

So my question is, iv'e heard of an exam called NAVLE and ECFVG...and from this video i think those exams are only for the students who have done a DVM degree and want to do masters in veterinary science in North America? and if yes, i should probably focus mainly on my GPA and the GRE exam is that correct?

    I’m from Brazil and I pretend to do vet at Canada, however, I need to be resident as you already said in the video, so I pretend to start at college with 2 years program at the veterinary technician, I really don’t know a lot about the entrance, so is there a problem to do vet tech for after apply to Guelph vet school or it’s better to do biology?

    • @babyvetyino
      @babyvetyino  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi, great question here. Like I mentioned in my video, vet schools do not ask applicants to be in a specific major, but they do require completion of certain courses, which always include biology. The advantage of studying with a biology major is that your required courses will likely overlap with the vet school pre-requisites. A geography major wouldn't prevent you from preparing for vet school, it's just not the easiest option.

      @@parniapanahi5203 I think you should be fine as long as you have 5 credits for the school year. You may have to talk to the school admission about their specific requirements on this. but I would sweat too much. worse scenario is that you can't use these first semester courses to fill in your prerequisites, which most people don't use anyways since 1st year grades are usually lower.

If you can't take biochem this year, you can finish it while your application is in progress. In order to practice in North America, we need to pass the North American Veterinary Licensing Examination (NAVLE). If you have a vet med degree from schools not accredited by the AVMA, you would need certificates from the Educational Commission for Foreign Veterinary Graduates (ECFVG), or the Program for the Assessment of Veterinary Education Equivalence (PAVE) to take the licensing exam.

    Hello! I was just looking for videos like this and I am really interested in studying vet medicine in Canada, I will like to ask you some question as well, I am not form Canada and I don’t know many things... I will like to chat on Instagram (if you have).
    For now I just have this question
    Which college will you recommend if I am not a residence?
    How much time will it take the whole career?
    Do you now the average of money I need to applicate in the college?
    Was it difficult to you?

    • @babyvetyino
      @babyvetyino  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi, I'm glad that you are into vet med:) I don't use Instagram a lot but I can answer your questions here.
      1) There is no ranking for Canadian vet schools. They all offer the DVM program that is necessary for becoming a veterinarian in North America. However, different schools do have slightly different pre-requisites. I recommend looking through their website and see which school works best for you.
      2) Like I mentioned in the video, you need at least 2 academic years to finish the pre-requisites. Then the DVM curriculum takes 4 years, so they add up to be a minimum of 6 years in total. Btw I took 4 years to finish my bachelor's degree before applying to vet school.
      3) If you are asking about the application fee it's 75$ for my school and other schools will be similar to this. If you are asking about tuition, it'll be 60K+ Canadian dollars for international student tuition.
      4) I prepped for this application for 3 years before my first attempt, and luckily I got in. Most people don't get in on their first try, so don't be discouraged to apply again!
      I hope that answers your questions. Good luck and you got this!

      Baby Vet Yino 小兽一诺 thank you very much, for replying I have been searching throughout the internet and I found “The university of Guelph” which is in Ontario, really interesting, but I will continue with my searches. So, just to clarify the order after graduating from high-school is to go and get undergraduates studies and in these cases get a degree of animal biology(? Or any related science degree. Then, finish all the studies for the prerequisites to get to a DVM curriculum and then 4 years studying DVM right? (Correct me if there’s anything wrong)

      @@shiroosama2758 OVC is a great school, probably the best among the five if there is a ranking. The order is correct but you DO NOT need a degree to apply for vet school. All you need is to finish the pre-requisites in an undergrad school, I only chose to get a bachelor's degree because I was also interested in psychology and wanted to finish my psych courses in undergrad.
      In terms of scholarships you'll have to ask the school. Financial need may play a bigger role than academics
