Great knife that doesn’t get a lot of reviews. I have one and highly recommend it.

That knife right there is living "proof", that you don't need a ton of cash to get a GREAT KNIFE!!! Great video btw...

I own many Cold Steel knives and have never gotten a bad knife. I have the drop forged Survivalist and I can tell you it is a very tough knife. In fact, it is one of my favorite knives. Another knife from Cold Steel I have and love is my canadian belt knife. For an cheaper priced knife ( I paid around 15$ for it) it is an awesome little knife. It is razor sharp and very handy. Good video, brother.

People don't understand or appreciate what this knife actually is. It's the most revolutionary thing to hit the knife market in decades. Not only is the tang junction the STRONGEST part of the knife, but it achieves this with a full flat crossguard and the overall form factor of a combat knife without compromises. For the most part, if you wanted an overbuilt knife with the geometry to handle regular batonning you were stuck with ESEE and Becker type blades that were very poor combat knives. The CSDFS is actually even stronger than those knives while simultaneously being a much better combat knife. It's a free lunch.

I'm a Cold Steel guy from way back, but I was surprised at the chopping ability of that knife.

I dont like choils and i dont need or like batoning. Just make the edge close to the grip. A grip is much better to hold, than holding the blade. Pluss it does nothing, and what kind of fine work do you do with a 8" blade anyway. But i like this knife. And i hate the CS sheats, they have glass in them so they dull the edge and they look like crap, you can pay alot for some of they're knives and they give you that sheat. My new fav knife brand, is WTG knives.

I never considered one of those. Now, I want to try one out. I always liked the SRK Series for Survival Cold Steel Fixed Blades. I never considered trying out the Drop Forged Series; now, I do... :-) Well done! And, thank you for sharing. :-) Peace, Stiletto :-)

Careful with your hands. Holding steel in cold weather can get you frost bitten.

yes if it is relly cold, this is not cold weather. Because when it is really cold, it does not snow.

Conduction, convection and radiation contributes to lower the skins temperature. Metal in 0 degree Celsius does an awesome job of cooling your hands. Not recommended for prolonged use without gloves.

@@bushcraft_in_the_north well do as you please. I did my basic training in the northernmost military in sweden. So far north it was considered arctic with temperatures below minus 40 degrees celsius and i was taught never to handle metall barehanded even in temperate climate. Reason being the army had experience of service members getting frost bite that way. Ymmv. All the best to you.

@@tommysoderholm8305 i am not doing it in 40-, so no problem. But this knife we are talking about, would be carrier in a belt. Probably under a jacket. And hold pluss degrees. So does my hand, and if it is not too cold. It will continue too warm up in my hand. We in the north can easy handle some minus before a frostbite that way. We usally dont wear gloves before it is 15-20 minus. All the best too you too🔪🐻‍❄️🇧🇻

the completely skeletonised handle concerns me - these newer versions the tang is basically a ring -- nobody except joe x has adressed this

Think about what you said its made out of one piece of Steel...all Knives are made out of one piece of Steel except for pocket Knives...but all fixed blades are made from one piece of STEEL
