Bro, I needed this months ago! I ordered IAG's premade fuel line kit and they wrap the lines in some sort of sheath that has NOOOOOO give in it. The amount of tension generated just by those lines makes me want to make my own... Love it man, these videos are awesome. Can't wait for your channel to blow up.
@@Smeedia I may switch and do what you did. The E85 and FPR they have in the kit mount up horribly because of all of the tension. I think it may be worth it while the car is still apart. I'll have to shoot you numbers I made. The gauge definitely close to FMIC piping if you do that route.
Keep up the great work, you’re killin it! Been watching your vids over a year now. Took me 6 years but I finally got an Sti, 2020 in magnetite gray. Can’t wait to put all the knowledge you have passed down to use.
To get the oem line adapters into the AN line, put a little bit of Vaseline on the barbed fitting. Will slide on much nicer! Love the videos man! Love to see other guys on the non stop Subaru grind!
I tried using a bit of oil and still did not want to go on 😅 going to be fighting with them a bit more. Ended up moving the FPR again but she's getting there 🔥😁
@@Smeedia Haha yeah they are a struggle for sure. If you’re running a front mount already & aren’t mounting your AOS on the pitch stop, you could mount the FPR in the pitch stop area. Nice centre location & you can view the FP gauge from the front of the engine! Good luck man!

What were the quick connect barbed fittings you used for the hardlines coming from the fire wall. Also doing this setup where do you run the evap line too. I’m lost as to what you do with that line coming off the firewall.
I like the way your fuel lines are routed. I, for whatever reason, did not think of putting them under the coolant crossover pipe on my Forester. They are still tucked under the intake manifold though. I will for sure be doing this when I break down and get some proper TGV deletes. Ha, to save a bit of cash I just removed the butterflies in mine. It's coming along though Tanner. Looking forward to seeing the final product and hearing that first start up.

@Tanner, thank you finally somebody went to making this video BUT I DO HAVE QUESTIONS. 1) @4:05, when inserting the hose into the reverse threaded nut, to ensure that the hose will not pop off under oil pressure, does the thread score the inside or the outside of the hose? If i made a mistake, do i need to cut the tip off and try again? 2) @5:10 When installing the fitting while the nut is on the vice, is this the locking mechanism that locks the nut and the fitting together or does this almost like crimp the hose into the nut sandwiching the hose between the tip of the fitting inserted and the nut? I have used a well known brand 10- AN braided oil lines (with the fittings and hoses already prefitted) when i installed my two oil coolers in my track car for fears of oil leaks while on track.
It shouldn't score the outside out of the hose, depending on how deep it went into the hose you may need to replace that section. This locks the fitting onto the nut creating a leak free seal, assuming that it isbtigneded down all thr way. The threaded nipple slips inside the hose and the threads ensure nothing will leak out.
It seams it. Your content is awesome and very fun go watch you make working on cars fun again and have alot of good info and you don't make your subs feel stupid for not knowing. Keep up the amazing work my friend.
I'm curious of your thoughts on parallel vs series for fuel lines. I think it's a myth that parallel helps at all, except maybe at the extremes like 800+HP builds. Like, the FPR is on the return line and makes sure you have, say 60psi under WOT and full boost. There is no way the last injector in the series needs more than 60psi for 100% duty cycle. I could see it helping for high end setups like your 2017 STi since it's going to be VERY thirsty, but for the average 400hp setup, I'm a fan of running them in series for simplicity and fewer hoses. Also, I'm just cheap and have a Tomei FPR that only has 1 port so I'm making excuses to avoid parallel, haha!
Lol I'm with you, I don't see a huge need for it unless your running high high horsepower. Someone who knows more than I can chime in on this but Inector duty cycle shouldn't need the extra bump with sub 600WHP cars
Tanner - I have a question. I followed that link to the line you suggested. It looks to be a CPE line and in the description it says it’s NOT okay for E85. Is that right? Should I run PTFE if I plan to go E85 later or is CPE actually fine and/or better for some reason? Also, do you think 20’ is enough or would you go with a different length? Any updates/recommendations on this process you have in hindsight would be appreciated. You said in another comment that the hardline adapters sucked? Lmk. Thanks!
If you plan for E85 I alqays suggest vibrant AN line. It is rated for E85. The evil energy is for gas only. Personally I'm not a fan of PTFE, pia to make lines for. They definitely do suck lol I just slide the hose over and slap a hose clamp on them 🔥
Hey Tanner, I found the fittings I need for the FPR, where did you get your quick connects with barbed ends and the clamps that hold the hose the end? Actually what size for the end that connects to the hard lines?
This was on a Honda b series turbo . Think at the time it was a B&G or B&M gauge(s)? Went in line right on the rail .even with isolators the vibration would eat the gauges.. I'm actually resurrecting my 92x at the moment
@smeedia I’m running new fuel lines but do not have your fancy fuel pressure regulator I have 2011 sti withCobb full flex fuel system with Cobb fuel pressure regulator radium fuel pump hanger . Was trying to figure out what fittings I need to use under the hood I just ordered some 5/16 nipples to hook it up. Same style fitting as a factory metal line.
I'm enjoying this build content. Do you have a specific use case or certain sets of mods where you decide to use an aftermarket FPR or is this just something common for you to do in your builds? I ask because the kit is not cheap, and many times people use FPR's as a bad bandaid for not upsizing the injectors properly. I tend to stick with stock FPR setups unless the build goals dictate otherwise.
Whenever I swap rails is when I do the FPR, alot of people use stock rails with 1050s and the Cobb FPR but it doesn't fully correct the fuel stumble issues. Ideally if your shooting for 375+ is when i would do rails, lines and FPR
@@Smeedia Great explanation, thanks man! Ah, I didn't know this gen had the fuel stumble issues as well. Wow, that went on for a long time. You ever tryout the OEM GR WRX dual fpr setup? I believe that fixed the issue and I've commonly seen people swap that setup to the same gen STI's to fix that issue as well.
Hey Tanner, I am looking at the A1000 fpr, should I get the gen 2 one or the original, I have 2021 STI. Also I am a bit confused on which a/n fittings, quick connects to get, size wise. I am just doing the lines from the firewall to the top of the manifold at this time. Thanks for your help and great videos.

Dude @smeedia, I’m currently doing the same setup but with stock TGV Sensors, because well..you know. I went with the IAG FPR, I have a question, the -6 an fittings to the FPR, can I run a -6 an to 3/8 npt? Thanks
When upgrading fuel pump and injectors do u need to upgrade the fuel rails too or no. 🤔 and any pros and cons if you were to use only 2 ports vs 3 ports that feed the fuel rails.
Hey Tanner, great video idea and am excited to do this myself someday soon. However I was quite upset when clicking your link for “cheap pilars” in your description, only to find that they were actually cheap pliars instead! Highly disappointed 9.5/10
Did you think about engine movement or shaking when driving? Don’t want that reg too close to the hood. My hood definitely got some bounce to it when I hit bumps
I love the video an it did help me out. I’m curious how I will run to the return line with my fpr. Also under the manifold by the turbo inlet. I’m trying to figure out where I go with the lines from the blue T connector. There’s the purge valve then a purge control solenoid with like hose connectors, if u could help me out that would be wonderful
Love the look of braided lines. Question why is Subaru bumper paint so soft? I know Toyota has soft paint too, but my pearlescent white GT86 got peppered and a windscreen chip (now filled) stone chip the other day. Anything bar ppf or respiratory/touch ups? What do you do with yr Subaru paint? Someone on the GT86 U.K forums said aerodynamics of car don’t help.
Subaru uses thin and soft paint which is just prone to damage, best way to protect it is PPF, and the gentlemen in thr UK is correct as air streams made by thr aero parts can pull small rocks up to the car. You can try touch up paint but I've never had good success with it
I'm going to do a setup like this on my 2011 Sti soon. I was looking to get the IAG braided lines that already come cut to length with all the fittings. But I feel like I'm perfectly able to make these lines too. I wonder how much more cost effective it is to do myself?
So I’ve found mixed answers on this. When running E85 does your whole fuel system need to be braided line? Let’s say you by the Cobb flex fuel kit. Do you need to change all these fuel lines or can you use the stock ones and the ones Cobb provides you?
Is the order of the fuel, evap and return line the same in every subie . Got a 2011 wrx and will be doing fuel line soon. Do you think parallel is that more better than series?
I've never seen a need for parallel unless your shooting for some high power but as for the fuel line it should be thr same in every subaru Blue = Evap White/Grey = Return Black = Feed
first of all, been following you for years! now i have been building my car for a year, and have run into a strange problem that i cant seem to get my head around. i bought the aeromitive fuel lines and AN fitting, FPR and rails with side feed injectors. since i have installed them i keep getting fault code that reads injector cyl 3 and 4 voltage low. when i return the stock fuel rails there is no problem and no fault codes. swapped in new injectors and got them scaled, put the aeromitive rails back in and same fault code. I have changed wiring harness, ECU. same problem. put back stock rails and problem gone. WHAT AM I DOING WRONG??? any help would be highly appreciated.
I actually just had this sane issue with my wrx and it ended up being the injector electrical connectors were bad. I'd start with there but the fuel rails dhoukdent change anything 👀
I’m in the process of doing mine, and I’m so lost. So the feed line goes to the Tee then to cylinder 1&2 first then back out thru 3&4 and feed line from cylinder 3 goes to the front side of fpr, and cylinder 4 goes to back side of fpr, then under the fpr goes back out to the return?
Feed line goes from the fuel rails into a T or a Y fitting then up to the hardliners on the fire wall. Both of the returns will go to the fuel pressure regulator then the fuel pressure regulator will go to the hardline in on the fire wall 🙏
Hey man totally unrelated to the video but what timing belt kit would you recommend on a 14 wrx oem all the parts are gonna add up to like $900 I called Subaru and that’s just the parts was looking at the kits but don’t know which one to get
The Aicin set up! I out out a timing belt replacement video a fee weeks back and linked a handful of cars in that video. I wanna say for everything needed it was around $300 🙏
Im curious... why not FP guage on the dash..? Is it running fuel lines into the cabin that's the issue? Or is it just tradition to keep it under the hood?
I'm doing a parallel fuel line set up on my 02 wrx. the thing i'm confused about is that there's 3 hard fuel lines. i know to route the feed and the return lines, but what about the third line? the breather/evap i think, what do i do with that one?
Got a CEL P0304 cylinder 4 misfire replaced the plug and swapped the coil pack. Swapped 2 to 4 and 4 to 2, still getting cylinder 4 misfire. Do you know if the coil packs are coded? MY08 Wrx 226bhp.
Cool spot to mount the FPR! I know it takes you a few days to get your videos up, but if you have not solved your pressure gauge fitment issue, I think you could likely get it to fit using one of the elbows that IAG sells for the regulator (probably would look better being able to see it from the front of the engine bay too). www.iagperformance.com/90-degree-1-8-inch-npt-male-to-female-zinc-plated-fitting/ Question for you: you are using a T for your fuel delivery line splitting, IAG uses a Y in their line kit. Do you think using a T makes any difference at the performance levels you will be running? I wonder if e-85 level of fuel consumption if it may make a small difference? Noob here, so don't know.
The videos are all filmed 1 day prior to upload 😁 and I ended up moving thr FPR to another spot this afternoon, but I did look into thr elbows 🔥 So IAG actually provided the T fittings, I was looking into that as well and from a flow standpoint a Y does make more sense than the T. I couldn't tell ya if it makes a huge impact but in theory a Y seems like we would get smoother flow

I'm going to do a setup like this on my 2011 Sti soon. I was looking to get the IAG braided lines that already come cut to length with all the fittings. But I feel like I'm perfectly able to make these lines too. I wonder how much more cost effective it is to do myself?
I've done both set ups now and doing it at home ND making thr line will save you around $250 or so
So I’ve found mixed answers on this. When running E85 does your whole fuel system need to be braided line? Let’s say you by the Cobb flex fuel kit. Do you need to change all these fuel lines or can you use the stock ones and the ones Cobb provides you?
No it does not, as long as the line is rated for E85 your fine. That will be steel, PTFE or E85 nylon braid. The ones Cobb provides are fine
@@Smeedia thanks again Tanner!
Is the order of the fuel, evap and return line the same in every subie . Got a 2011 wrx and will be doing fuel line soon. Do you think parallel is that more better than series?
I've never seen a need for parallel unless your shooting for some high power but as for the fuel line it should be thr same in every subaru
Blue = Evap
White/Grey = Return
Black = Feed
Not sure why I would think that return would be on the bottom. Thanks. What’s the P.O. Box in case I like to donate to the cause. Lol

🙌🙌🙌🙌
first of all, been following you for years!
now i have been building my car for a year, and have run into a strange problem that i cant seem to get my head around. i bought the aeromitive fuel lines and AN fitting, FPR and rails with side feed injectors. since i have installed them i keep getting fault code that reads injector cyl 3 and 4 voltage low. when i return the stock fuel rails there is no problem and no fault codes. swapped in new injectors and got them scaled, put the aeromitive rails back in and same fault code.
The fuel line to the firewall did the quick disconnect work for this car?
Yes and no, was not happy with them so ended up reusing thr stock clamps and sliding thr hose over the hardline then locking it down
@@Smeedia thanks Bud. Keep up the vids they are extremely helpful.
Looks dope dude
Eyyyy, thank you 🙌
The FPR did you use the vaccum line?
Yes I did 🙏
Hey Tanner quick question. Are your -6 ORB Fitting 8an ORB to 6an?
This is the one I have but there are a fee fitting options based off what you want 🙏
aeromotiveinc.com/product/a1000-regulator-with-06-ports/
Dude let’s get a start up already man you’re making me die my dude🤣
We still have a long way to go 😅😅😅
Smeedia I know it’s itching me so bad i can’t wait for the oil and gas to circulate
Any particular reason you went with the digital fuel pressure sensor kit over the iag guage on the 2017? I have the same kit and was curious.
The tuner suggested that sensor last time, did not see a huge need for it again. An analog gauge works just fine 🙏
@@Smeedia thanks for the reply. I'm in that dilemma with it atm. Lol
Either option works. If your etuning get the pressure sensor, if going onto a dyno get the analog gauge to save $$$
Do you block the evap firewall line?
Just route a line from the firewall into the fender area
Hey man totally unrelated to the video but what timing belt kit would you recommend on a 14 wrx oem all the parts are gonna add up to like $900 I called Subaru and that’s just the parts was looking at the kits but don’t know which one to get
The Aicin set up! I out out a timing belt replacement video a fee weeks back and linked a handful of cars in that video. I wanna say for everything needed it was around $300 🙏
Im curious... why not FP guage on the dash..? Is it running fuel lines into the cabin that's the issue? Or is it just tradition to keep it under the hood?
To adjust fuel pressure you turn the screw ontop of the FPR and its easiest to have a gauge on thr fuel pressure regulstor to see what your doing 🙏
@@Smeedia cool, thanks for the response!
Nice job 👍🏽
Thank you 🙌😁
What is done with the EVAP line?
Vents to the fender from the hardline 🙏
Where would the e85 kit cobb into play?
On the return side 🙏
@@Smeedia thank you 🙏🏽 bdw im local to you too 🤙🏽
WYA?!
@@Smeedia Tacoma, WA 🤙🏽
Not far at all 🙌
I'm doing a parallel fuel line set up on my 02 wrx. the thing i'm confused about is that there's 3 hard fuel lines. i know to route the feed and the return lines, but what about the third line? the breather/evap i think, what do i do with that one?
I just vent that line down into my fender, just pull off the softline from the manifold then reroute it
@@Smeedia Do you mean you just route an open hose to the fender area? Do you cap off the manifold where it was located? Thanks
Route the open hose to the fender 🙏
When doing the fuel lines that evap hardliners will be gone
Got a CEL P0304 cylinder 4 misfire replaced the plug and swapped the coil pack. Swapped 2 to 4 and 4 to 2, still getting cylinder 4 misfire.
Do you know if the coil packs are coded? MY08 Wrx 226bhp.
I don't think the 08+ is, I know some of the older ones are. I would double check and do compression and leak down to see what's going on
@@Smeedia Valves are gone or sticking mate.
Pop the valve covers off an looked inside?
If it is just the valves it should be too pricey to fix 🙏
@@Smeedia I think that's a garage job ha, done most of the above parked on the drive.
Cool spot to mount the FPR! I know it takes you a few days to get your videos up, but if you have not solved your pressure gauge fitment issue, I think you could likely get it to fit using one of the elbows that IAG sells for the regulator (probably would look better being able to see it from the front of the engine bay too). www.iagperformance.com/90-degree-1-8-inch-npt-male-to-female-zinc-plated-fitting/
Question for you: you are using a T for your fuel delivery line splitting, IAG uses a Y in their line kit. Do you think using a T makes any difference at the performance levels you will be running? I wonder if e-85 level of fuel consumption if it may make a small difference? Noob here, so don't know.
The videos are all filmed 1 day prior to upload 😁 and I ended up moving thr FPR to another spot this afternoon, but I did look into thr elbows 🔥
So IAG actually provided the T fittings, I was looking into that as well and from a flow standpoint a Y does make more sense than the T. I couldn't tell ya if it makes a huge impact but in theory a Y seems like we would get smoother flow
@@Smeedia Strange, they gave me a Y! Anyway awesome video, wish I had seen this 2 months ago :P
Lesson of the day: never go in dry
Don't do it 👀
Awsome
😁😁😁😁
IDEA ! Buy 3D printer , make these customs brackets u have been making for certain parts an sell whole kits possibly 🤔
I've been debating it, wanted one for a while 😅 lol you free from the army yet?!
@@Smeedia yup ! I got back to NC on the 28th . I’m not officially out till March 14 so I’m steady getting paid for now 😂 . Oh an I ended up buying another civic Si last week . 8th gen .
Why a civic?!
@@Smeedia I got it as 88k original miles , one owner , 100% guarantee car fax clean title no accidents , an it was in perfect condition . Plus I have owned one an decided why not again 😂 . Once everything gets rolling for me this year I plan to turbo it but the start of next year . Oh an it is 100% stock . Not a single mod done to it at all .
