It is really refreshing to see someone out in the woods that doesn't take himself way too seriously. Wish I would have come across your channel a long time ago!
Hi Joe. Just watching all of your oldies but goodies so that the TH-cam gods smile on you. Will like and comment when I can - these are on in the background whilst life goes on. Hope you heal fast and can get back to doing what you love!
could watch your vids all day brother. love the adventures you take us along for. you have alot of knowledge and I enjoy your camera personality. keep the videos coming as I look forward to the next one before I'm even done with the current lol. great channel bud.
Joe, thanks for your videos. I grew up in the woods, but unfortunately I'm stuck in suburbia for the next couple of years while I attend school. Watching TH-cam videos, like yours, and weekend camping trips, are the only thing that keeps me going.
i like that you are not pretending that you are in the middle of the wilderness and that you are not beating around the bush when you are trying to make a point. makes you much more credible, than some of the other dudes. great vid, thumbs up!
Epic video Joe, great demonstration of skill and like you I need to get out soon too as been too long since i've done a solo. For the length of video there weren't sufficient walking shots but i'll let you off this time as you're only getting back into the groove after the alone show! ~Peace~
Trying to make it all epic in the beginning, "No one will return for the next 24 hours" then from the background "Daddy! Bye!" Total cuteness overload.
Hey Joe Firstly I'd like to congratulate you on hitting the 250k. Amazing. Secondly, I'd like to thank you for standing up on the stage and sharing your experiences with us. My son and I are hooked. p.s big Ray Mears fans being from Scotland. Thirdly I'd like to offer my support to you in disregarding the negativity aimed towards your good work. Keep it up fella. kind regards, Enzo
Joe me n my kids have been watching your, correction I mean binge watching, your videos for the past week and I want you to know that you have inspired us to go out on a 3days camping trip for Thanksgiving to build a primitive shelter together. Thank you for all the hard work you put into these videos. I appreciate how much you explain everything. God bless!
Those are not dead crayfish. Crayfish molt just like crabs and lobsters. Their moltings are what you are seeing. That's how they grow. They are most vulnerable during these times and usually hide and don't come out in the open to eat for up to a week or so because their shell, which is their protection, is very soft. I've had shellfish as pets before, and the moltings look like a perfect dead instance of them. It's incredible that they are almost 20% bigger after molting but the meat doesn't fill out the new shell until later.
My 13 year old son started watching you videos after seeing you on "Alone". I have been following you for years, love your videos. He is now a big fan also, watched all your stuff and begging me to get in the woods. I asked him to cut up a fallen limb in the yard when I left for work yesterday, when I got home, he had a fire reflector built in the back yard...nice. Keep up the great work man. Would love to take one of your classes, but Canada is a long way from Alabama. :-)
Hey, Wild Carot is a biennial plant... if you collect the roost from it in the second year you have most likely very woody roots. In the first year (the year before it flowers) the roost will be much more easy edible. But nothing beats that steak :)
Great video Joe! I have a hard time finding woods that don't belong to a private owners. You just have to get out and practice where you can. Looks like you have a good spot there. I have been bringing my son with me lately I am trying to slowly get him comfortable out there. I need to do some more overnighters with him. We both enjoyed this one. Take care Mark
Good on the tummy tum.. peace to you bro, moments like this show that you are genuine and yourself in front of the camera... thank you for allowing us to follow you on your adventures, I always enjoy watching your videos
Paul Charron Agreed.... 1/2 mil $ Lesson that is.. lol But I am sure there are Monthly Royalties in being on the Show, or a nice paycheck for being there ;-)
Just a couple observations Joe, I like to use florescent 550 cord on my leather axe cover, my faro rod ,my knife sheath. It has helped me find my stuff in case I drop it or lay it down . Another thing I see people do is put a lanyard on a knife but not put the lanyard around their wrist. My buddy ended up cutting three fingers , one of which was lost , using his baco Laplander without the lanyard around his wrist. He cut thru the log the log fell, grabbing the lanyard and pulling the Laplander thru his hand severing his fingers.. Sorry I know it is graphic but if it stops one more injury I think it is worth it . Love the vids and am impressed with your safe use of tools God Bless buddy .
really enjoyed the video Joe, seen in a couple of your videos now that humans leaving signs at camp sites is a bit of a gripe for you, would be great to see how you extinguish and clear up your fire after a camp as many people do it differently.
Pinning a bounce fabric softener sheet to your clothes keeps the mosquitos away. Best life hack I've ever tried. You could even pin one to Scouts collar. It made gardening in a wooded area so much better for me.
Dude, all the plants you've found I've just recently learned about and it was nice seeing a video confirmation on them! I get a little cautious about the queen ann's lace, but I smelt the ones near where I live and there's no doubt it's carrot. As well as the dark flower spot in the center of the flower, growing in open and relatively dry fields and so on. Great video!
TheMadWolfProject The wild carrot is better when young in it's first year, that's why it was so tough, fyi lol, read it in a book. Thanks for being the guinea pig on that one haha
I have been binge watching your videos and getting to know you and your camping buddies. You seem to have a knack of setting up scenes and doing different angles. Great info on flora and fauna as well without sounding like an encyclopedia. You are lucky to have a wife who supports your work and all the days (and nights) away from home. LOL
By far my favourite bushman. I look forward to more videos. Favourite bit was when you put the fire lighter away so you don't lose it. You inspired me mate
Nice video Joe. I really enjoyed watching your bushcraft work. What did you study in college? I've been binge watching your videos. ---thank you Rgr Sully
Hey Joe , like the song , thanks again for another out standing video !!! I would never see these places if not for your video's !!! Can't thank you enough !!! Bluesman putting another log on the fire !

You have trees there that I dont have here tho. And it was great to see you gather wild edibles. Mosquitoes can be a real pain. I enjoyed this video alot and it made me longing to head out for an overnighter myself! Oh, and I loved to see that Swedish Bushcraft Black and the Swedish axe!!! Thank you for taking us along! /Ulrica
This was one of my first vids of yours I watched, came back to see it again. Good times. I will always remember the clamping of the steak here, good stuff man.
Thank you Joe for taking us with ya! Thoroughly enjoyed that hour really makes me wanna get out into the woods myself, Ive just ordered a DD Tarp and DD frontline Hammock, cant wait to get camping and try em out! I really look forward to the next one, Im sure it takes a while to edit these but boy are they worth it :D Big Love from Ireland!
Beavers will indeed change a body of water, not usually for the better in terms of fishing. Their dams stop up the outflows and snuff the currents (obviously), which is what kept the water well-oxygenated. The more still it is, the warmer and less oxygen-rich, which is not so great for trout. Also, without the current, the bottom gets silted up, which changes the ecosystem drastically: Where there was once rocks, weeds, etc. for all kinds of forage-type creatures to live, there is now just silt and mud.
Hey dude, I really enjoy your videos, are any large predators where you camp? I live in western Colorado and am a beginner bushcrafter, I fear that cooking a steak like that here would attract a bear though
I'm buying one of these packs .... this looks perfect for the day hiker that wants to extend to easy overnighters. Thanks for the great reviews as always!
Nice outing for alone time. Just enough "wilderness" to get you out there. I noticed the lanyard; nice idea. See ya on the next one..................Ross
Very cool video Joe thnx if I cant be in the woods myself at least I can enjoy them watching you hope to be in their myself soon waiting on cooler weather here and a break in work schedule.
You should move to BC -- it would suit your lifestyle a lot more. We have endless wilderness and mountains to explore. Within an hour of my city I can find complete, remote solitude. I practice bushcraft at a BEAUTIFUL creekside/waterfall spot I discovered about 3 years ago, and in that time I've NEVER seen someone else there, or even evidence of another person. This is pretty much the norm in my mountains. Plus, the mainland is not as wet as the island ;-) just sayin'!
It is nice out west, but for whatever reason Muskoka always gets better ratings from travelers and vacationers. (Muskoka is 2.5hrs north of Toronto for those that don't know, and where Algonquin Park is)
I've lived in both vancouver and toronto, and of course BC is beautiful, but ontario wilderness is very underrated in my opinion.. Less rain, and actual winters if you are into that sort of thing.
Thanks Bro! Enjoyed it! It's about 100 F everyday down here on the gulf coast of Texas so other than early morning short hikes no outdoors adventures here!!! Waiting for a cool front. Maybe in another six to eight weeks or so!!! At least can do a day trip then...

Joe, great video. I saw a post on fb today for a home made mosquito repellent that people swear by. I'll send out to you. Here in Florida I'm sure it will come in very handy. I haven't tried it yet. You kill me when you talk to the camera. Oh and, when I was in the army and stationed in Korea during the monsoon season we were taught that you spray ddt feet on your clothes and head gear more then the skin. I know in Korea and in f gory Stewart Georgia where the mosquitoes can carry you away at night it worked very well. Great video and enjoyed it very much. Great job, you had me laughing Manny Times. The one thing about your videos I really like is the fact you actually camp rather then just give reviews on different equipment. That's a big plus, at least for me. Thank you.

Thank you.
Cory Boyd Thanks, as always, Cory.
