Thanks for talking about the cost of actually doing the work so many of the guys talk about the gross but but not the true cost. I hear A lot of the other guys talk about that they made $2500 that day but they seem too forget about they spent $1500 out of the $2500 so they actually cleared $1000 or less for the day.
Yup. That's literally why I made the video. I've seen so many "day in the life" junk removal videos that talk about how they made X amount or how they booked X amount in one day and how you can to. Shut up and give me the fact! lol.

Thank you brother! You'll make money regardless but you need to know what your actually making so you don't say WTF! at the end of the month or year. Learning your monthly expenses is a HUGE game changer when it comes to profit. A little adjustment here and there can go a long way!
Even after the dump fees, clearing 2k is more than i take home in 2 weeks grinding 9-5 at a job I hate. Hopefully I'll be starting soon.

Our dump fees in NH here are $162/ton. Sometimes we sell our scrap
metal and recycle/sell items, if possible, to control costs. Do you ever
figure in “mileage” cost (to job site & back) into your estimates ?

Happy to hear that Pete thank you. As for your question on factoring in milage, no. I have created a service area and thats that. I will drive within my service area to provide estimates and do not charge extra for that.

The last two antique soapstone sinks sold on eBay for $700 and $750 (Local pick up only). Both were located in Massachusetts. Check the completed listings on eBay under "antique soapstone sink".
Interesting . I'll have to look into ebay I guess. I took one from a job a while ago and couldn't find someone to take it for nothing lol. I think it's a niche item. They also weigh 300lbs and are a PAIN to handle
@@SteveConroy1 Definitely a niche item. Larger antiques and architectural salvage items take a while to sell online, but can bring good money. Just list stuff online (local pick up only) and forget about it until a buyer comes along.
@@usa-ou2zw When we come across that sort of stuff its never planned. Its. just at the bottom of a pile and. we have a lot of other jobs to do so its just easier to. break them up and toss them. I've been waiting to get the call for one so I can plan accordingly.

Fun fact. I was driving through New Hampshire this summer and I saw one of those green historical signs. We talked about the soap stone quarry and that’s with the original soapstone sinks and countertops came from in New England. I wonder what you could’ve sold that for. I’m sure somebody would’ve paid decent money for it. You would’ve needed another two guys to probably get it out of there though huh
Interesting! I love NH. As for the soap stone sinks...not so much lol. you can probably get a couple hundred bucks for them but to pull them out of a basement, get it in the truck, off load it then most likely having to drop it to the buyer... count me out!
We never get charged for propane tanks, and we never have to remove frig doors. But you have a killer area to work in ..lotta money in Mass.
What state are you in? I know the fridge doors is a law (I think) so nobody gets stuck in them, but the propane tanks are just a money grab. Classic MA move. I'm pretty sure other states are charged to get rid of propane as well though.
@@SteveConroy1 I'm in Michigan. They tell us a hole has to be in the tanks but they don't enforce it. Frig doors are a law for people putting them out at the road but not at a dump.

I was actually VERY annoyed that the realtor gave us the wrong address then showed up 20 minutes after they were supposed to. Classic case of working with a realtor. You never know what to expect because they don't either lol

@@tajyoung3628 There a a lot of factors that go into pricing your full load rate but you should be in between $550 - $1000. I know that's a HUGE spread but when you boil it down, its all about what your expenses are.

So how much would you charge just to pick up a truck load of trash in the garage? Just 2 hours of labor for you and your helper ?

What percentage of the jobs do you do on your own vs having some help?
This varies depending on the stage of your business. Starting out, you'll be doing most jobs on your own and using help for jobs with bigger pieces of furniture or jobs with multiple levels of a home, office, apartment etc. Personally, I always have 2 men on each job unless we know that one guy can do it (junk in a garage or backyard).

Do you charg for moving stuff out the basement and is you're pricing different when you move stuff from the house?
If we can back right up to the pile, we charge less. I do not charge more if it's in the basement or attic. If were going into the house, it doesn't matter where its coming from (unless the location of the junk is very difficult to access and remove it). Some companies charge extra if its on the second floor or third floor (attic). I found that since we work so efficiently, we do not have to charge extra for locations thus landing us more jobs because were not jacking up out rate.

Negative. You need a CDL for a truck with a weight greater than 26,000 lbs
What do you pay your help for an hour
Awesome video. So I just don't do construction debris. Honestly how much money am I missing. I am working on getting back to work. Major construction going on lol. From website. Main man besides me. It's been a journey but still have a good name. I work and people that work w me work or they don't work at all. But I don't want little washer and dryer jobs. I want clean outs, trash outs, etc. I can't justify the others right now w virus. I will protect my self. But ya know. How did you get your next guy below you? My kids don't got the want to that it takes to make the money..😎At least right now. Both have careers. They just saw me get a start and I got really sick not from junk. 😀From Arizona soil and me digging. Planting flowers. Any how I need someone that wants to make it ya know. Advice. ,,
You are definitely missing out on money by not tackling construction debris jobs. Whether they are from a contractor or a diy homeowner, there is money to be made. If they don't or can't drop a dumpster, you should be their first call.

Enough to keep them happy lol. It all depends on what minimum wage is in your area. Figure that out and pay them a lot more.

Do you ever resell the furniture?
We do! We make the effort to donate before hand and if they don't accept the item, we'll turn around and put in on fb market place.
