    I finally got another avocado in the ground. The Nabal Avocado on Toro Canyon Rootstock from Brokaw Nursery. Toro Canyon: Mexican rootstock comes from a survivor of an area attacked by Phytophthora cinnamomi. It has high tolerance to cold and root rot caused by Phytophthora cinnamomi. It is very tolerant to Phytophthora canker or collar rot caused by Phytophthora citricola. Its moderate canopy size is a very efficient volume of fruit production. It is more tolerant to salinity than other Mexican seedling rootstock.🥑Avocado Talk🥑

    I agree on getting 5 gallon trees. 15 gallons are amazing and closer to fruiting but after a year or two that 5 gallon the in the ground will be just as big if not bigger so if you don't feel like spending a lot just go with a 5.

    This is one of the few TH-cam videos that show how to plant an avocado tree correctly. No mulch underground, natural soil, and mulch on top to slowly break down and feed the plant underneath. And slightly elevated to ensure good drainage. This tree will do well if you can keep the sun off it on the those 100+ Riverside days.

      Hello MrEdwin, thanks for being a part of the journey. I'll keep on showing people and hopefully we can all lean and grow tons of avocados. The temps are nice right now but the HEAT will be coming on shortly, keep them protected the 1st year and they do well going forward. Thanks for watching!

    What fertiliser do you use to stimulate flowers and fruits?

    • @AvocadoTalk
      @AvocadoTalk  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Felix, I recommend using ones high in P in the N-P-K, so for examples: Vigoro All Season Bold Blooms Flowering Plant Food (15-30-15)
      If you want to go organic use: DR. EARTH Organic Flower Girl Bud and Bloom Fertilizer.
      Look for purple color bags which typically are set for higher P values. I plan to apply this in January.

    How do i identify avocados varieties by looking to the leaves

    • @AvocadoTalk
      @AvocadoTalk  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Organic G, There are only 3 that I can tell by their leaves like Bacon, Anaheim, and Nabal. Some you can use the new growth young leaf color plus stem color to identify like Kona. Another way would be using flower characteristics A vs B and when the female open. Finally fruit characteristics is the best. If you have a grafted tree, you add all of this up and you could get a good idea what it is. Good luck and thanks for watching!
