  • In this tutorial I will show how to shape the back neck of a garment and how to join the cast off neck to the decreases to create an even transition from the neck to the shoulders. The same principle applies to shape the front neck.

You are most welcome Austin and thank you for your feedback. A little vacuuming between projects is how I clean the needle bed! 😊

I think you will find this is a good basic neckline. A practice swatch might be a good start so you don't have to do this as a first time on your sweater. That way you'll get a feel for the technique on a small scale. Have fun! Thank you for watching 😊

Love this tutorial! You mentioned that this method can be used for the back or the front neck. If the front neckline dips lower (so has more than 2 decreases after the center needles are bound off) would this still work and give a nice transition?)

Hi Nancy, the trick with getting a nice transition for the front or back is not about the amount of stitches decreased but to pick up the proper leg of the V shape on the knit stitch. The idea is to re-create a knit stitch to bring the edge of the neck to the edge of the beginning of the neck shaping to close the gap. I have to admit that I don't always manage to re-form the perfect stitch but practicing on a small swatch will give you the confidence for your next project. Thank you for your question and for watching 😊

@@knittingonthehook thank you for your reply! I understand now. And yes I probably need to practice getting that transition to look good. Off to check out your other videos.
