Love how straightforward this is and how you explained it well in 12 minutes! I've been trying to look for this drawing technique. Most tutorials I've watched would draw the arch (going by the feeling) without much technical visual explanation on how the shape came to that. This will be a helpful guide when I try to draw from my ''imagination''. Thanks Wei!

Eyeballing is a better teaching material de than a ruler! The ruler should always be used last, to perfect it ensuring dimensions are correct! But don’t apologize for eyeballing! Perfection is over rated!😉👍🏽

ive learned alot of your "tutorials" arent time lapse... and you have no idea how happy i am about that. i can actually learn, thank you, im subscribing! and gonna binge watch all your videos. thank you for your great content.
dislike when "how to drsw videos" are time lapse cause i dont actually learn how to draw, i just learn how they did it fast as fuck. and im just like "chill, i barley did the circle for the head and your already done"

My shapes are typically wider than they should be, but I just thought it was because I'm part Asian. Now it'd be cool to see going from like the cylinder to a cup shape by building blocks on top of one another! Combining shapes, woo!

Thank you! I got caught in my doodling/practice... I can make a 2d square triangle and circle!
Then I can make a 3D square triangle.. but not circle, my sphere game isn’t too strong.
Then raises the question, I can make a 3D square and triangle transparent, but a circle or sphere... now transparent!!?

Is this definitely a perfect circle in perspective? It looks more like an ellipse as you didn’t use the circle to build the box. I’m not sure...

Timestamp 10:59 the shape is called a half-arch. Yes, I am a smart-ass. I too forget terms of shape in the moment of a conversation. My husband does the same thing: "Yeah, that 'thingy'" Me: "What thingy?" My husband: "The thingy thing thing" ROFLMAOLOL!

This is not useful for real applications, because you start off with a circle and turn it into an ellipse. But in the real world if you're drawing from an actual object or photograph, the wheels, gears or other round parts are ALREADY ellipses when you see them. The challenge isn't to turn them back into circles, the challenge is to accurately render the degree of ellipticalness that you see, so it scans right in the final drawing.
