In this video I discuss a technique that I leaned from Scott Robertson's book, "Drawing and Sketching Objects from Your Imagination." You can get it here with my Amazon Affiliate Link - amzn.to/3BLNYSx
This technique will show you how to draw and evenly space windows or other details in perspective. It takes a little time to setup but if you struggle to draw those details in with a freehand approach this can be a real life saver!
I also recommend that you check out the perspective tips from David Finch's channel. He is on my featured channels list and his tutorials are amazing!
I also have my full course on Perspective drawing where I cover 1 - 2 - 3 Point Perspective techniques. You can visit that here on my site - ram-studios-co...

Been trying to get thos concept for three days. Finally understand the way you explain it.. thank you. I was almost ready to throw in the towel.. or pencil... great job
I don't get how to establish the location of the first bottom left pencil point on the lower horizontal line.
Make it something that is easy to divide, for example if you need 10 windows, make it ten or 20 centimetres/inches long.
While he didn't mention it, you can actually draw in that line the whole wall with all its vertical details, windows, their divisions, columns between them, drainpipes and whatever. It's easy to do it in frontview and with that vanishing point they all turn into their right places in perspective.
His first technique makes you guess how many divisions you will get so it's actually useful only with telephone poles and such. With the second you can make the number anything you want it to be, but it is somewhat complicated and it needs space.
Here's a little simpler way to get the wanted number if you are willing to just eyeball all the additional details: th-cam.com/video/2cMtghUEp_k/w-d-xo.html
I swear I didn’t know how to draw windows since I was 1st grade till now. Thanks Rob, will try this new technique when I get home
How did get the point on the bottom line on the left? At 6:14? The point he says from this point to this..?
Thank you thank you thank you, from the first two minutes I know I will learn something precious from you, as soon as you announced about the book, I posed the video, went to amazon, ordered the book and back 👍🏻
Great advice, and good tips. Thanks for taking the time to help us out.
Eye Level and Horison Line is the same in 1 and 2 point perspective, but is not in 3 point perspective. In 2 point perspective "Station Point" determines where it will be vanishing point, and this is at 90 degrees, "Cone of vision" is on 60 degrees where we put our Picture Plane to avoid distortion.
Nice technique, always good to add arsenal to your drawing skills!
I like how you can get all the information you need from the first frame of the video (intro aside)
I like seeing how u use the ruler to set up the perspective lines! Very useful!!
It works for tile floors as well
I like your drawings, very good and inspirative.
Wow this looked really nice!
Looks great dude 👍
Muchas gracias, perfect timing.
great video, thanks for sharing, my question is.. how in the first place, did you decide the length of the horizontal line where you divided by the number of windows?? i hope you got my point..
Thank you for the tip Robert! 🙏🙏🙏This will definitely help with my next Profolio!
Helped my life out, thanks.
THANK YOU SO MUCH! I've been trying to find a method for scaling widths in perspective and I couldn't find a method anywhere
thanks this is good timing as I needed to do a road with a bunch of light posts in perspective and was just trying to "eye it". Can you tell me do I need that middle vanishing point to be in the center or does it matter. Thanks
Many thanks
Thanks
How did you determine the start point to get the third vanishing point?
Perfect timing
Grandioso muchas gracias genial video
Pat Quinn has an excellent perspective book available I believe, at the Blue Line Pro website. It’s where I got mine.
No fricken way. I am legit learning perspective for art rn
nice video
Çok güzel
Teşekkür
You messed up the second time.
You would STILL need to find the center of the 🎁 box. (Like the first method)
Find the entire center. That's where your third perspective point goes
I see how it's done geometrically, but I'd like to know the math behind it.
i stopped watching and quit drawing forever when you said that one window perspective drawing was really bad.
Bye bye 👋 to my Art block !!??
