Jimmy, your work , it's brought so much to so many people! We have laughed, cried, partied, escaped, screwed up, tried to recover, screwed up again, & you've been there with us & always will be. "A legend never dies! The Parrotheads will still gather & celebrate, like the very strange family we are. You need a humanitarian award for all the contributions you've given us.
He has his halo and wings now and I hope they're shiny 100% gold. I went for a drive yesterday, neither of the country stations were playing his music. I had a CD in though.
I started listening to your tunes in 1979. That was way back. Your music has seen me through much, been both good and bad. I'll miss that outlook on life. We've grown accustomed to the way you take life easy and don't sweat the world. Best wishes. You have meant a lot to so many. Thank you
Damn. I've been listening to this wonderful dreamer and poet for most of my adult life. But now I get it all. C0ompletely. He was singing about how goddam short this life is and we have to take what we can of it while we are upright. RIP master.
When I was 15 in 1978, my older brother gave me a cassett he bought to prep for a concert of some guy he never heard of. He didn't go to the concert because he didn't like the music and gave me the cassette. I fell in love with the story telling. To me Jimmy was like a singing Mark Twain, but about many different types of stories about the world and people. I would end up seeing him over 20 times, at least that's what I've been told :). The cassette was Son of a Son of a Sailor. This song was not on that album, but it's fitting since he has fallen of this big round ball. Thanks for the memories.
RIP Jimmy son of a sailor Buffet. Thanks for the many hours of enjoyment that I have had listening to your songs and music. A legend never dies and the music will carry on your legacy. 😢 ❤❤❤
Thank you Jimmy for always bringing all of us joy with your music. So many life lessons in you music over the years almost feels like you have been like a uncle to me. I'm Sad that your gone but I as well as many others will not forget You and your Spirit and Your Music. Thank you Jimmy 😊 💓
I always will love Jimmy's connection to Canada! The fact this song is from a musician he admires...makes it more special. This video makes me value my life...the life I've lived...and the future I will live. Do what you've always wanted to do...life's short...live now. Fish on!
Jimmy you have been in my life since you first started. I am impossibly sad...you gave us all so much joy with your songs, poetry and stage productions. I hope you are headed to the most glorious beach ever. God speed 💔🦜🍹🎶
A great storyteller that found a way to afford his fishing habit. An unbelievable man with an unbelievable life. Thank you Jimmy for all that you have bestowed upon us as we have we have grown older
Oh my goodness there aren't words to explain what your music has meant to me. Godspeed to your next adventure. Thank you for sharing this one with all of us.
I remember hearing Margaritaville on the radio as a kid and laughing. I thought it was a great song then and I still do today. It’s the first song I learned on the ukulele and I still play it all the time. It always makes me smile. Jimmy was a great story teller who brought out our emotions and thoughts with his songs and though I never met him, he seemed to be just a genuinely great guy. Prayers to his family/ band mates and friends. I’m sad he’s no longer in this world.
Right? I didn't see this one coming, although I can't say I'm surprised. I just turned 70 in July, and as if it hadn't been bad enough before, losing all my musical heroes, it really seems to be ramping up now. Like another one of my fave singer/songwriters said: "Enjoy every sandwich!" 🕦⏳
@@MissAstorDancer Gordon Lightfoot stung a lot. When I lived on the water, I always played Buffet songs. When that chapter closed and I went back to land..it hurt to even listen to a Buffet song because it reminded me of that life. So I purposely cannot listen to his music..but today that all changed and I am playing his music on repeat. You don’t think of the day you will loose these guys or gals..but that day does come. It’s just the cycle of life..and it hurts.
@@americanman4746 - Yes, I was also really upset at Gord's death. He was probably even more of a fave than Jimmy is! But despite being an old Hippie and a rocker, I also REALLY love the singer/songwriters from my era. Just about all of them. It really gets more and more difficult to look at daily headlines. In fact, I don't look at any MSM anymore. But I do subscribe to Dan Rather's blog, and in the email update from him today, the title was "Margaritaville". It hit me before I even opened the email, and like someone else here in the comments mentioned, when I realized, I literally said out loud, "Oh, NO! SHIT!!" I tried to see if I could fire up my old turntable a bit ago, and it's even deader than it was before! This time, the stylus (the tiny needle part) just broke right off when I went to brush it with my tiny stylus brush. So, It's gonna be hours spent on this here channel, and whatever other tributes and coverage that comes up. DAMN! Crying gives me such a headache!!!
@@MissAstorDancer I understand..I went into my shop after I received the news..cracked a cold beer and listened to Jimmy. Instantly I was transported back into boat life memories. He was a wonderful man and I am thankful for his music..I will listen to him more often for sure.
Cincinnati Ohio USA 💯🇺🇲👑 sincerely appreciates everything you have done for this nation. Rest peacefully in heaven and may God's love and light heal our hearts and minds in Jesus name amen 💖🙏🏽
We will meet you on the other side. Where the coral reefs are even more magnificent and the water is even a brighter brighter blue that the keys. Can you imagine? Nope, you don't have to anymore. Thank you brother!!!
I once was at Jimmy Buffitts Palm Beach house to make a delivery. Fishing poles and surfboards all over. He really does or did love the ocean Sad he is gone.
in a time of environmental collapse I wonder what it will take from the creative and rich among us to finally address this issue of single use plastic. These waters we enjoy in Florida and around the world are now heavy polluted by coca cola, nestle, publix, safe way, etc on and on. It's only gonna get worse. Jimmy now you are gone . RIP dear brother Who among us will write the song?..who among us will right the wrong? Margaritaville with 100% bio-degradable everything. And why not? The money is there. The resources are there. I know millions now care Just an observation from long time fan who never reached a strong level of worldwide influence and loves his convenience same as the rest.
I want to know the origin of his lyric, "tattoos done while you wait". The first tattoo I ever got, I was 18. It was 1989. I went to a parlor in Louisville, KY called Tattoo Charlie's. The window of his establishment had those very words. It was his shop's motto.

It really amazes me. Jimmy Buffett was such an icon and yet the governor of Florida has not said a word about him. What's wrong with the guy?
The gov of Fl is a nitwit. I love Buffett and will vote for ANYONE except him.
Jimmy, Life is only short at one end. That's how we've lived it anyway. Willee
