if you have tamed boars and want to move them into a new pen build the path with the basic fence (its cheap only 1 wood) and then stand on one side and hold a torch they will run into the new pen
there is an easier way, just turn that boar agro against them. let them chase you, if they strike just wait a few seconds to let it/them circle back to attack you again then once at your home with a pen guide them in. I advise to use a pen with a 3x3 extention on fences and using 2 gates (larger extensions for larger groups of boar). I ran around my forest and got 12 boars doing so. For moving tamed boar you can use berries/fungi etc. Upvote so more people can do it like this.
Facts.... I came here because I wanted to move my tamed boar to another base..... Basically the only way for me is to scare it to the base with torch. :/ Because I won't build a tunnel with fences, nor will I push it until that base. That would both take for ever.

Also only way to lose your boar will be to other mobs trying to hit you and hit the boar, thus killing it. Fire also scares the daylights from them. If your boar runs cuz of a campfire or torch give chase he will slow to a trot. Also Firespark Ive also been enjoying your videos congrats on 100k!
I prefer herding them while wild with a torch. You can sprint and just chase them pretty easily across the map. Just make sure you have a pen ready at the end, with gates and all - I did lose one when my pen wasn't set and it took a minute to organise it. Getting them in can be a bit of a pest, they like to avoid the open gate, but keep on em and it's relatively easy. Then lock em in, and start the taming for your own warpig army.
FYI, if the AI is being really stubborn, you can use it against itself by opening a hole in your fence corridor. Had a star boar escape and it ran back to the runestone spawn where I first found it, it wasn't far away from base but it refused to be pushed back home. Even after making a pen "hallway" to push it through, it wouldn't move, it only wanted to go back to its spawn point. After it almost escaped a second time I realized when the AI is being really stubborn like this, you can use it against itself. After completing a section of fence "hallway", open up one hole in the direction you want it to go, so the AI runs in that direction thinking it can escape. And just drop a new fence piece to trap it again before it does. Rinse & repeat.
I found it easy to move tamed boars by holding the block stance while bare handed and walking into the boar. It took some practice but I was able to move them pretty quickly relative to the other methods
If they aren't tamed they will chase you essentially forever unless killed or scared by something like fire. On a new server I just run around getting as many as I can to follow and drag them home. I shoot for at least 5 a trip.
i'm sorry, but this is just straight up braindead. I'm legit speechless that this game has a taming mechanic but no ways to move the animal and you have to struggle for hours to move a boar.
Yeah, I killed a few boars out of anger last night because I couldn't get them to do what I wanted, even using a harpoon. I hope they make them just follow you after you pet them.
I´ve managed to tame Wolves with this method. - dig out a pit. - aggro a Wolf (with a shield in your hand). - stagger him in front of the pit. - bump him in works every time :D

Have you tried to agro a group of boar. Lead them back home to a pre-built pen, than have em chase you up stars and you all go over the stairs into the pen?
i find useing the half walls works best. They snap, can take a bit of damage and you can stand on the outside of the pen and throw food over it to feed the pigs.
@firespark81 i found a even cheaper way to raise the terrain, ill try to explain.. the hoe raises a 2x2 (or 1x1 of the bigger floor piece.) so if you put your hoe 'crosshair' circle thing on the very edge of the already raised ground and raise terrain you should be able to raise a 2x1 to the same height (i was raising it 6-8 blocks in height with one go.) this is cheap and convenient way since terrain manipulation is such a meta way to play this game.. big warning. if you manipulated huge amounts of terrain you will lag tf out, its not optimized at all. plz make vid and complain about lag so devs fix ;p
I think you are getting very focused on taming and methods :-) I have played 90hrs now and not tamed a single animal i just dont see what it offers to the game. That said great work and really enjoying your work, like and staying subscribed :-)
I just look at the questions being asked a lot on discord and on reddit and try to answer them. I agree with you that taming is a bit overrated but there are many out there that enjoy it. This will most likely be my last taming related video for a while.
@@Firespark81 i wish they would make it more of an incentive it seems a major part of the game but largely not very fruitful. i have more meat and hides than i can ever use, so tamed animals need to offer something unique
There is one use for it but you need 2 star boars. They will always give you meat. That with the turnips gives you a infinite food loop. That's about the only reason I see to tame.
If you don’t have the final pen ready you can build a temp one not tame so you can kite him to a more permanent home. Just fortify the temp so it’s protected a bit

you can just walk normally and the boar cant hit you. when they go to attack they have to stop for a split second which gives you time to walk away from their attack just enough so that they can never hit you lmao
found two 2 star pigs while out hunting drakes and wolves, put pen up, tamed them, got them almost to base then the ground started to shake and the boars got flattened by a bunch of giants.... :(
Maybe set up doors along the "corridor" and when the boar entering the doorway; Close the door and build a torch at the closed door. And move on... When in Solo mode

I just transported a boar on a ship, but with a twist. I found 2-star boar for the first time far from my base - there just weren't any near my base. So I couldn't pass it up even though I was exploring by ship and there was a river and a bay between my base and this boar - too far for any of these methods. I tamed it, then I managed to get it on my Karve by pushing it off a dock onto the ship. But it didnt like this and soon jumped off and swam to shore. Here's the twist... I bred it on site with a regular boar, waited for the birth and took the first 2-star piggy onto the ship. No problem... the ship's hull is too high for the little piggy to jump. I got it to base and corralled it into my boar pen. Warning: don't do this during storms, the rough seas will wash the piggy off the ship. If this happens, it will swim ashore.
This seems like a lot of work. I had some boars spawn fairly close to m home base. I aggrroed them 1 at a time into the pen I made. Those 2 boars turned into 12....
Ok, you made a path, just make a pen with a Door on it, Agro pig, run in pen, pig follows shut door and Jump fence. I had one follow me a long ways, just dont get to far away from them and If you have time to make a path, just toss the food down the fenced path you made, , when he goes to eat, shut it off behind him, Move fence path and when he is Hungary, repeat.

he spaws in the black forest area relatively close to the starting island, but its random fromeveryone. did u check all nearby islands to your starting one?
@@annouli8914 its not always close tot he starter zone. it can spawn in ANY black forest anywhere on the entire map. so the trader could spawn very very far away from starter zone.
I appears that the world (any given seed) will have several possible locations for the trader to spawn, but whichever location you stumble on first will be the ONE, and all other possible locations will not be used. This means, to find the Trader, it's better to explore the local area first and expand the search outwards before spreading too far out in any one direction.

On our dedicated Server, our Boars got scared any time (don't know why exactly), they NOT calmed down again, not even with Carrots or Mushrooms and any how all 3 Boars escaped form the "closed Pen" and ran away. Not Tested with Wolfs or Lox yet, but i will do next days if i have the time!
i have the same thing but now i do think it was caused by a flame inside my house as they are scared of fire and it was too close to the pen i made, i am going to log in now and test it.
You can breed boars for their meat and leather. 1 and 2 star boars give more meat and leather but are rarer and most likely not found right next to your base. This is a method for herding those 1 and 2 star boars back to your base so you can breed them to produce more 1 and 2 star boars. Of course, you may not care if your boar farm is in your base, this is just for those that do.
my boars keep escaping their pen. I've tried everything, repaired the fence, put a fence inside of a fence, made a fence out of core wood....they just randomly end out outside of my enclosure, and usually take a while to tame. Anyone have this issue?
The boars and animals load into the game before structures and fences, so boars can easily escape their pens if made how the video suggests. Your best bet for enclosures are large fenced in pens, or build the ground up with stone and the hoe, or use a pickaxe and make a pit. The latter being the most efficient. Take this video's suggestions with a grain of salt, because they are generally disillusioned. Lol.
Yep. I just block shoved a 1 star up a steep vertical incline, through a black forest and over half my island. It was obnoxious. Would love a lasso or animal cart. Something that you cannot portal.

I did transport "piggys" First I found a 2* Then I build a den for him/her then i tamed it and made it mate with another boar. The took the 2* piggy on the boat. Worked very well. Far distans sailing. Tought it jumped in the water 30 sec before docking at my base. But it was there when i got off the boat. Then it died :D Due to Skeleton attack when i was AFK :( But yes. You can transport Boars. Piggys are better. And I bet you can harpoon them too
@@SaganJumJum I did manage to get three boars on my Longship(two adults and a piggy) but they all fell out due to the waves it seemed. Anyway I did manage to get one of them back to base and breed it with one of the zero star boars to get a new one star, then I found a two star boar on the same island I live on.

Dont do this, takes way too much time. Just aggro the boar and let it attack you once in a while when you are going to your base.
The Boar will do like a circle and then come back and attack you. Just keep it close and run to base.

Boars never stop chasing me for the most part, I just get aggro and run back to my base no fencing or anything
The torch is literally a herding tool for the boar, it always goes the opposite direction of you when you equip torch.

I dont understand why you would build a path. Just hit the boar once and it will follow you infinitly.
Until they find a way to put them on follow this is such a waste of time. It's faster to just go out and hunt them.
You don't need to harpoon wild boar. They will chase you forever as long as you don't go near fires.

I tried. He stayed for a bit, but eventually jumped into the water.
I have done it over long distance with a long boat however it is twiggy and they sometimes randomly die.

You can harpoon them instead of you have ah harpoon. They take 1/3 damage but then heal when they eat.
I was having issues with this until I figured out I needed to have Friendly Fire on to be able to harpoon them

Found him... Near the edge of the world... We really need an indicator to his location after killing bonemass or something
I appears that the world (any given seed) will have several possible locations for the trader to spawn, but whichever location you stumble on first will be the ONE, and all other possible locations will not be used. This means, to find the Trader, it's better to explore the local area first and expand the search outwards before spreading too far out in any one direction.
We need a guide of how to *tame* a sea seperent.

@@cameronhoss4039 thx for your concern, but we do. We Go to the gym everyday, do service 2 times a week, and still come out positive on day trading and other such investments ... grind hard then maybe you can have the free time we do 😂
@@dezifued8530 I stand corrected good sir, I guess I am less efficient as I can only muster up around 4 hours per day with my day job, stock trading, and side hustle.
On our dedicated Server, our Boars got scared any time (don't know why exactly), they NOT calmed down again, not even with Carrots or Mushrooms and any how all 3 Boars escaped form the "closed Pen" and ran away.
Not Tested with Wolfs or Lox yet, but i will do next days if i have the time!
i have the same thing but now i do think it was caused by a flame inside my house as they are scared of fire and it was too close to the pen i made, i am going to log in now and test it.
@@lbwatty Hmm, yeah that can be possible because i also had a campfire nearby in my little "Farm House".
@@fuba1 i have a standing torch near by and watching this it suddenly twigged that maybe its all fire sources and thats keeping them scared.

You can breed boars for their meat and leather.
1 and 2 star boars give more meat and leather but are rarer and most likely not found right next to your base.
This is a method for herding those 1 and 2 star boars back to your base so you can breed them to produce more 1 and 2 star boars.
Of course, you may not care if your boar farm is in your base, this is just for those that do.
my boars keep escaping their pen. I've tried everything, repaired the fence, put a fence inside of a fence, made a fence out of core wood....they just randomly end out outside of my enclosure, and usually take a while to tame. Anyone have this issue?
I did as well! What I ended up doing was making a pretty ugly fence that was basically layers on layers on fences
The boars and animals load into the game before structures and fences, so boars can easily escape their pens if made how the video suggests. Your best bet for enclosures are large fenced in pens, or build the ground up with stone and the hoe, or use a pickaxe and make a pit. The latter being the most efficient. Take this video's suggestions with a grain of salt, because they are generally disillusioned. Lol.
Yep. I just block shoved a 1 star up a steep vertical incline, through a black forest and over half my island. It was obnoxious.
Would love a lasso or animal cart. Something that you cannot portal.
Can you harpoon a boar on one island and drag him to another island (on a boat of course)?
I want to know that too, I've found a one star boar that I want to bring back but its on a different island
@@Shadowdragon3710 You can use the fence corral method to a dock over a boat and then push them on the boat.

@@Shadowdragon3710 I think you can do that. Harpoon stuff thingy from boat. Did it with a wolf at least. For boars I dont know. I did transport "piggys" First I found a 2* Then I build a den for him/her then i tamed it and made it mate with another boar. The took the 2* piggy on the boat. Worked very well. Far distans sailing. Tought it jumped in the water 30 sec before docking at my base. But it was there when i got off the boat. Then it died :D
Due to Skeleton attack when i was AFK :( But yes. You can transport Boars. Piggys are better. And I bet you can harpoon them too
@@SaganJumJum I did manage to get three boars on my Longship(two adults and a piggy) but they all fell out due to the waves it seemed. Anyway I did manage to get one of them back to base and breed it with one of the zero star boars to get a new one star, then I found a two star boar on the same island I live on.
