Oh man, Dancing Rabbit! This community had a huge influence on my when I left high school. I moved back to the city and hated the concrete jungle. Every day, I would wake up, have my coffee, and fantasize about one day getting off the grid. I had even written these guys in hopes of visiting. I cannot say wether or not I regret never visiting but over the years, I slowly established a life for myself away from the city and now have some land on which to garden. Still, one day I’ll need to visit these dudes!
This looks like a great place to live. I live in an urban intentional community here in Canada. The Dancing Rabbit way of life is very good, but not really available for a lot of people. There are way more people than there is land. This is simply not accessible for very many of us. We need to get away from the single family home in suburbia. It is a waste of almost every resource and very isolating.I live in a one room studio cottage next to a family with 3 children and 2 dogs. The house next door to us is part of the community and houses 3 rented rooms, one basement apartment and a small hostel. We have a bunky as well as a small apartment building across the street. There are chickens, an organic garden, a sauna, a large gathering place for potluck Wednesdays,meetings and general fun. We have all age groups, backgrounds and economic circumstances. I am a single senior so I am beyond grateful to live with these lovely people. I know I am safe and that I will never be alone again. It literally brings tears of joy to my eyes. It is possible to do this in urban areas. I wish more people could live this way.
