The shuttle was one of the first steps of a great dream of humanity.
Thanks Discovery and thanks to his twins, some of which have been lost with his heroic crews.

Just spent nine minutes of my life watching a plane fly another plane from a third plane, and I don't regret a single second of it.

It is sad to see the end of the shuttle program, but, appart from Hubble the shuttles have been the ISS "repair man/ Tucker Truck van" and satellite service vehichle. Granted the crews have all been heros, not like football "heros", these people put thier lives on the line for humanity's progress. They were all incredibly brave people and we all owe them. As far as space exploration the quiet achievers are Voyagers 1 & 2 & the other unmanned craft that have proved thier worth.Thumbs up 4 NASA !

What a great Video. Never seen Washington before. I shall look later. Got to eat, catch Le Tour de France, then the Scottish Open Golf. Crikey, it's all go. Don't know what this HD is about. You are all being conned. My TV is "perfect". There aren't enough hours in the day, and I have followed all this from the start with Freedom 7. Thank you for the entertainment.

that was a cool video..it makes you wonder how the shuttle affects the plane..it looks like it might give more lift..but maybe make the rudder less effective as well?? :)

Though the shuttle is not actually a plane. It does have wings, but only for the purpose of re-entry, in which it glides to the ground. It has little to no engine power after it launches and would be incapable of flying on its own. But it is very interesting to watch!

I dearly miss the shuttle. It sent the Hubble telescope and created the iss. It bettered our understanding of aerospace. It sent and repair satellites. But there is always an end to things and there is always a new beginning. I can't for SLS and future missions beyond our atmosphere.

Just my opinion, the only thing that would make the final home for the Shuttles would be for them to release from the 904 and make one last finlal landing as a glider.....which is what is is, afterall.

I doubt it could. The shuttle is attached from the same hard points that it used to attach to the external tank on trips to orbit.

I was at the departure this morning, it was something else. But a freakin' gopro? You're shooting a spaceshuttle with a gopro? GoPro's are for kids with skateboards, not NASA.

I'm wondering how much fuel the jet carries and how long can it's flight last transporting the shuttle, it's not like baggage.
