I didn't respect his playing when these albums where new, but after years I've grown to love it.. He really has his own unique style. Sadly the opeth is no more the same opeth..
Lopez was part of what made Opeth: 'Opeth'. Edit: Everyone in this iteration of the band made Opeth: 'Opeth'. Over the years I honestly start to believe that the longer the collective length of hair in a metal band is, the better they are/were.
I swear these fifteen minutes feel like one. What's crazy is that this gem isn't even one of my favorite Opeth songs. That's how good this band is. Every Opeth song is godlike.
And ALLTING TAR SLUT! The new Outro from in a cauda venenum record, the new 2019 album, My top 5, with Burden Studio version in that acoustic arpeggios.

I love how Opeth has that magic feel to its songs. Look at the crowd, everybody is quiet, well... you know what I mean. The jazzy vibe their riffs gives us just makes me appreciate music so much more.
he were so humble, now he's destroying, roasting, killing us. He's really funny. If Mikael doesn't want to play and just want to talk, that's OK, still that could make my life, not just my day.
much better than the studio version. I don't really like the way that distorted guitars were recorded on the album version, both the mix and the sound itself. live it sounds way more intense
This is (was) my favorite Opeth lineup, and this particular concert at Shepherd's Bush is prolly my favorite on youtube. Someday maybe i'll see them live... but it won't be the same without Peter and Martin, sadly.
It is midnight in West Bengal, India and I'm feeling like I have been kept stranded in a spaceship capsule and the saucer is flying away with this music all around the walls!
Great song and epic performance. The solo is very emotional, especially the 2nd part of the solo played by Peter, even though it was ignored by the cameraman.
They played it but couldn't record it because their label only wanted footage of the Blackwater Park, Damnation, and Deliverance albums. They played Demon of the Fall after this, but I can't find footage of it anywhere. Imagine if they recorded it, the quality ahhhh. Thankfully we have the roundhouse tapes.
@@jaspergillgannon4991 To be honest, I think Axe nailed that song at Red Rocks. Again, I haven't seen Lopez play that song live, but I certainly prefer the Garden of the Titans version to the album version
@@sammyloehnis3373 Disagree. Axe added a bunch of heavy handed fills in the early part of the song in that performance. Not a fan. His best work that night was probably Deliverance, where when he did add his own flourishes, they all fit perfectly and his double bass was spot on. For my money, the Roundhouse tapes version of "Demon" with Axe was near perfect, if lacking the amazing mix of the Red Rocks blu-ray. And Axe's performance on "Ghost of Perdition" on roundhouse is better than even the album version, IMHO.
Anybody else that was around for those shows when Opeth was first gaining in popularity, like '03-'05? Fucking magical times, for sure. I still love Opeth, love what they do now and they are probably a "better" live band now, but dudes... the vibe of the shows from the Deliverance/Lamentations tours? I miss being that young and so impressed with this beautiful music.
I don't know how much folks in this show paid for a ticket, but right now in 2024 and after 13 years since I discovered the band and it became my favorite, and not being able to be lucky enough to see them perform live especially the old stuff, due to my geographical position.. I honestly think it's worth every godamn peny ngl
I love how slow and heavy they play this outro live. Its one of my favourite to listen to on the album, but man the way they do it live is like no other.
This one along with Dirge are my two favorite songs from Opeth, I can't choose only one but I think these two songs represent very well both sides of Opeth before Heritage, which I love too
Martin Lopez was so great. I was a metal drummer thinking speed and heavy was everything until I heard him play. The techniques while keeping it metal, just amazing. Totally changed how I felt about drumming
I was aware that Opeth had a good drummer, but that very nice musical drumming, especially at the beginning of the song did surprise me in a very positive sense :D
Best song I ever heard, the melody creates a sense of serenity and peace but with a feeling of melancholy , the dynamic of the song is epic makes me Headbang with power of resistance and pure desire well great to get high with such a song Opeth rules
I think this is sitll Opeth's best song and what amazinfg performance from these five guys. My first Opeth album was Watershed and seen you guys few times in Finland.
i feel so sorry for people who do not know Opeth
Opeth changed my life
Baha Hamod I know them!
Baha Hamod and for people who do not understand Opeth! Feeling this is just for some of us♥
Only band that headbanging while I cry.
druce bickinson HAHAH yes you’re so right haha
Opeth is the best band on Earth.
I would say that's A Fair Judgement.
Not only a fair judgement, but one live at shepherd's bush empire, london
People like you move the world
bum bum ts
I totally agree with your judgement
A fair judgement is served.
Lopez plays the drums like he's painting a picture. An astounding artist and musician. It really shows in this performance here
It also shows in Soen 😄
I didn't respect his playing when these albums where new, but after years I've grown to love it.. He really has his own unique style. Sadly the opeth is no more the same opeth..
For sure, one of the best bands I've ever heard!

Phenomenal musician!
Lopez IS the song....he is in it and it's in him...The greatest drummer Opeth had and will ever have
Way to underplay every single great musician that has been and is part of Opeth
I like how slowly they played it this time.
Was about to say the same thing. It's better than the album!
Camerawork is fuckin epic here too. My god what a performance.
That's so right.
The sound engineer is phenomenal too, great job done✅️🎶🤟
For me it's their best lineup, with Lopez brutality on drums and Lindgren the artist!
oh yeah, totally agreeeeeeeeeeeee!!
YES 100%
I feel so sorry for people who don't have the right ears for listening to Opeth

That freak in outro shows that opeth can write a better doom metal riff than most doom metal bands lol
absolutely agree!
Pls someone tell about bands that make music like that
yami Katatonia, first two albums
Onur Kaya he is not asking for a band that sounds like Opeth, he is asking for something that sounds like the outro in this video, just the outro.
That was 100% inspired by Type O. Nobody else plays a slower drum tempo than they did.
One of their best outros, up there with Deliverance and Harlequin Forest
And ALLTING TAR SLUT!

That slowed down doom metal breakdown is so freaking good!!!!!
I watched this whole live show so many times. Most underrated prog metal band of all time

I wish my dad was alive to hear this....he was such a Frank Marino/Zappa/ Megadeth fan I think he woulda loved it
I like how this has an instrumental for the chorus. Nothing's left to say...here :)
11:16 starts one of the most iconic live Opeth moments ever I swear
Wow. Just wow. Every single note seems designed to make a perfect melody. This is an utterly beautiful song.
Opeth is really something else
Peter's tone in this is out of this world
Still one of the best songs I've heard ever. And what a performance
And this is why i love when bands and drummers play without a click track.
Best song ever to cruise on the highway with over long distances by car traveling at high speeds. A fair judgement! Opeth!

7:49 not a single note wasted on that little guitar solo. Incredible.
The last time these people were together for a live concert!
This audience was blessed to have witnessed epicness of the best line up Opeth ever had
It is midnight in West Bengal, India and I'm feeling like I have been kept stranded in a spaceship capsule and the saucer is flying away with this music all around the walls!
7:49. I could listen to that little solo over and over again!!
Man I never heard the live at bush take on this song, was going to bed yesterday I think I repeated this 4 times.
12:38 mikael "tf happened lopez"
11:20 “Abandon all hope, ye who enter here.”
The solo section is the absolute climax of this song
I would do anything to see them live with Lopez and Lindgren
Axe is amazing but Lopez is...you know...something else. He's John Bonham of our times
agree
got to see them 2x with Gene Hogland drumming !
People don't quite understand this-- but it's the reality of the musical unity. Lopez brought it all together. It sounds lifeless and barren now.
I would have to agree.
I miss lopez the most
Great song and epic performance.
The solo is very emotional, especially the 2nd part of the solo played by Peter, even though it was ignored by the cameraman.
Te amo Opeth, no hay un día que no los escuché, son esa voz de vida, ese soplo de felicidad
